Lyle the Crocodile first appeared in The House on East 88th

Streetforty years a go. The P rimm fa mily welcomed Lyle into

th eir home, a nd since then children ha ve welcomed him into

th eir hear ts. Fort y years in print is truly something to cele-

brate!

To help Lyle celebrate this anniversary, here is your Lyle

Activity Kit, wh ich cont ains various r eproducible activities

such as a crossword puzzle, a m aze, word ga mes, story

activities, an d much more. Included a long w ith t hese activities

are invitations, name ta gs, and ordering information for the

Lyle books.

With a SWISH , SWASH , SP LASH , an d SWOOSH ! Lyle came

into th e lives of the P rimm fa mily and t he world of childrens

books. He has a ppeared in eight books wr itt en an d illustra ted

by B erna rd Waber. Over th e year s, Lyle ha s done all sorts of

th ings including sa ving his neighbors from a fire, ent erta ining

hospita l patients, going to th e jungle to find his mother, a nd

appearing t he world over with H ector P. Valenti, sta r of stage

and screen. He likes to skip double-dutch, watch building con-

stru ction, ice skat e, and eat his favorite food, Turkish caviar.

Lyle still lives in the H ouse on Ea st 88th street w ith Mr. a nd

Mrs. P rimm, J oshua, Miranda , and his mother, Felicity.

The adventures of Lyle the crocodile have entertained children

for more tha n forty yea rs. Now, with th is kit, children of all
