HISTORICAL SOCIETY CHILI-tASTERS
PICK 2015 WINNERS!
CANINE BEHAVIORIST, AND COLUMNIST, “DIDI” McELROY— FEBRUARY 12TH PROGRAM
The Manteca Historical Society will be hosting lo-cal Canine Behaviorist, Dierdra "Didi" McElroy, for an entertaining presentation on canine body language. Learn how to interpret a dog's tail wag, ear twitch, sudden
scratch or eye blink. Do dogs see in color? Why do some dogs chase shad-ows? What is the best reaction to have when en-countering an off- leash Pit Bull? As a weekly col-umnist to the Manteca Bulle-tin, these are the
types of questions Didi answers. She has been working with animals for over 25 years. Didi gradu-ated Texas A&M Universi-ty in 1991 after com-pleting a veterinary in-ternship at the El Paso Zoo. She has trained ser-
vice dogs, therapy dogs, detection dogs, police dogs and sport dogs. She currently consults with rescue groups around northern Califor-nia, police departments, the department of cor-rection and pet owners on behavioral issues. There will be a question and answer period plus Didi's own personal dogs will be at the meeting collecting ear rubs. Please join us for this hour of educational fun! The program begins at 7pm, February 12th, at the museum, 600 W. Yosemi-te, and is free to all mem-bers, and guests!

There was a nice crowd on hand at the museum on Thursday, January 8th for the annual chili tasting competition. Joining the winners’ circle this year, is Anita Napier, with her winning entry,
called “Anita’s Chili Pot”. 2nd and 3rd place finishers this year were: Al Marsden, with “Al’s Last Minute Chili”, and Tommie Gallardo, with Tommie’s Tomahawk Red Chili. Many thanks to all the chili-chef participants, in-cluding new member TJ Wharff, and to all our members and friends who turned out to taste chili, patronize our gift shop, and enjoy some good ‘ole-fashioned camaraderie.
Here are the ingredients for the award winning chili called “ANITA’S CHILI POT”.
Ground Beef, Ground Pork, Spices, Tomatoes, Vegies, Beef Stock, Beans. Sides of
Cheese, Garnish and Sour Cream.

Clancy Rogers, Manager
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our members for their support through their membership and donations for 2014. Without your generosity we could not keep this wonderful Museum open and operating.
I would also like to thank all our Docents for doing an outstanding job in 2014. They donated thou-sands of hours of their own time to help keep the Museum open to the public and lastly I would like to thank the “Tuesday Crew” and all our volun-teers for all the work they have done during the year. Again THANK YOU!
