serving as Rabbinical School Dean at the Jewish Theological Seminary, and serving as rabbi of Temple Israel of White Plains, NY, Rabbi Gordon Tucker was a member of the

Conservative Movement’s Committee on Jewish Law and Standards for 25 years. During those years, his thorough knowledge of the Jewish tradition, his acute mind, and his warm heart affected everything he said and wrote, and we are all the better for his contributions to our thought and practice. teacher through his leadership of the Ma-sorti Foundation for Conservative/ Masorti Ju-daism in Israel and, frankly, in everything he says,

writes, and does. Elliot has been especially blessed to work with him with rabbinical students and on the

Committee on Jewish Law and Standards. And Gordon has been our friend from the first time Elliot

met him in Washington in 1973 even though we are both still in our twenties! Gor-
