How blessed I am/we are to live in this community. I am so proud of all the good people that have compassion, kindness, sympathy and love for one another. Again, this was displayed in March. God said we are to, “Love one another, be kind to one another, help one another” and I see this in our community, and it’s AWESOME! So, with that being said, I want to challenge every one of us to do something kind for one another at least once a week and let’s watch God’s love grow.

Please join us as we celebrate the MOUNTAIN LAUREL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE 20th ANNUAL GOLF OUTING at the Norvelt Golf Club. The celebration begins with registration and a light breakfast at 7:30, followed by the playing of our National Anthem and a shotgun start at 8:30. Golfers will be golfing to the tunes of 98.7 JACK FM who will be broadcasting live from the putting green. We’re going a little retro this year in rememberence of Johnny Shaffer of the Donegal Dairy Queen by once again giving away all of our items as door prizes donated by our Title Sponsor, Bud & Bud Light and each golfer will take home a participation gift. There will be lunch on the turn & fun skill contests on the course, followed by a mouth watering steak dinner, refreshments and awards ceremony in the new pavilion looking out over the picturesque course. The newest member of the Mountain Laurel Chamber of Commerce, Thistledown at Seger House is a stunning early 20th century mansion turned boutique hotel located just minutes away from Donegal and the PA Turnpike in beautiful downtown Ligonier.

I signed a one-year lease and had to pay a security deposit equal to one-month’s rent. What is this and do I get that back?

The security deposit is a refundable deposit retained by the landlord as security against damages to the property and any unpaid amounts due under the lease. Under Pennsylvania law, when there are no damages or unpaid amounts under the lease, the landlord must return the full security deposit to you within thirty days after you move out. You will have to inform the landlord of your new address. If the landlord deducts any damages or past due payments from the security deposit, the landlord must, within thirty days, provide you with a written list of the deductions and return to you the difference between the total security deposit and the amounts deducted. You can still contest the landlord’s failure to return the full security deposit if you dispute the amounts owed.
