It has been another year to celebrate or London Business Schools ull-time MBAprogramme. The Financial Times placed us number one or the third year in a row in theirglobal rankings; the percentage o 2011 alumni securing employment 3 months atergraduation has increased to 93%, up rom 91% in 2010, and the number o studentsundertaking summer internships hit 100%. I would like to thank our recruiters orbelieving in the impact that our students and graduates can have in their organisationsand continuing to hire rom the School through these uncertain times.
My frst ull year as Career Services Director at the School has been a rewarding onein which we have built on past successes and taken the courage to try new initiatives. The intention is always to improve urther our relationships with organisations aroundthe world and prepare and support our students in fnding employment. For the frsttime we created sector specifc CV books, making it even easier or recruiters in someo the major sectors to fnd the talent that they need. The team is working more closelythan ever with student clubs, including supporting a growing number o career treks. The treks to Shanghai, Hong Kong and Singapore have contributed to the increase o
graduates fnding roles in Asia, 11% compared to 7% in 2010. This region continues tobe a ocus or the School and the Career Services team. In addition, our MBA programmehas undergone an exciting review to ensure that we continue to oer participants andemployers what they need at a world-class level.
This years employment report shows that there was a airly even split in sector choice, with 36% o our 2011 MBA graduates fnding employment in consulting, 34% in fnanceand 30% in other corporate sectors. Although this is the frst time in several years thatthe majority o our ull-time MBA graduates have gone into consulting, the transition dataindicates that a smaller percentage have changed sectors this year (55% o those withroles in consulting had a previous background in consulting compared to 42% last yearand 61% o those in fnance had a fnance background compared to 55% last year). Thissuggests that in times o uncertainly it becomes harder to change sectors o employmentas organisations preer to recruit those with experience in their feld.
Whatever your relationship with the School, I hope that you fnd this employment reportinormative and useul.
Best wishes,
Fn SnddDirector, Career Services,London Business Schoolwww.london.edu/recruitourtalent
