Basic Seamanship and Safe Boat Handling

all drivers of mechanically-driven craft having an engine output of 30 H.p. or more, including small boats and jet skis, are legally required to be in possession of a nautical licence (as per legal notice 57 of 2010).

this intensive 14-hour course leads to the attainment of the nautical licence. it equips learners with the necessary knowledge and practical skills associated with the effective handling of mechanically-driven crafts. lecturers with extensive seafaring experience will guide you through every step of the way to help you enjoy your boat or jet ski safely.

Together with the application form and payment, applicants are requested to attach a photocopy of their ID Card (front and back). Applications without full payment and photocopy of ID card are considered incomplete and will not be processed.

Courses to which an MCAST Level and number of ECTS/ECVET have been assigned can be used as building blocks leading to a full Certification.

As an example, it may be possible to take separate units at level 4 in engineering totaling up to 30 credits and thus qualify for a Level 4 Certificate in Engineering. The combination of units needs to be approved by MCAST.

Units can also be taken separately and in such cases a single unit certificate will be issued after successful completion of the unit.
