Automotive courses

following the success of the full-time courses delivered by our aircraft Maintenance training Centre, we are now also offering a new part-time advanced aircraft maintenance course through evening classes. this programme will lead you to the eaSa part 66 Category B 1.1 licence examinations, an international qualification required to work as a technician in the aviation maintenance industry.

this course will be delivered through various modules, starting with Module 1 – Mathematics. Other modules required to obtain this qualification will be offered in the following months.

this course provides you with a basic understanding of the components and mechanics involved in automatic transmission gearboxes used in different types of motorised vehicles. auto mechanics and individuals who have a sound knowledge on how vehicles operate may apply for this course.

through this programme you acquire practical and academic knowledge (as per eC 842-2006) to properly and safely handle the f-gases (fluorinated greenhouse gas) used in air conditioning systems of light vehicles and car derived vans. all motor vehicle air conditioning technicians must be in possession of this qualification (approved by defra) to meet eu f-gas regulations.

Course Examinations and CertificationSuccessful completion of courses certified by MCAST entitles the student to either a ‘Certificate of Attendance’ or a ‘Certificate of Achievement’. Further information on which type of certificate one can achieve can be obtained from the course outline available on www.mcast.edu.mt/shortcourses.

1. Certificate of Attendance A certificate will be issued if attendance exceeds 80%.

2. Certificate of Achievement To obtain a Certificate of Achievement, a student must; • Attend a minimium of 80% of the course • Pass successfully the test/assessment.

A student will not be eligible to sit for the final test/assessment if he/she has not attended 80% of the course.

Full CertificationCourses to which an MCAST Level and number of ECTS/ECVET have been assigned can be used as building blocks leading to a full Certification.

As an example, it may be possible to take separate units at level 4 in engineering totaling up to 30 credits and thus qualify for a Level 4 Certificate in Engineering. The combination of units needs to be approved by MCAST.

Units can also be taken separately and in such cases a single unit certificate will be issued after successful completion of the unit.

Studenti li ma jattendux għal 80% tal-ħin ta’ attendenza ma jkunux eliġibbli li jersqu għall-eżami finali tal-kors.

Ċertifikazzjoni Korsijiet li ġew mogħtija Livell mill-MCAST kif ukoll ġew assenjati n-numru ta’ ECTS/ECVET, jistgħu jservu ta’ ħolqa f’katina li twassal biex persuna tikseb Ċertifikat jew Diploma.

Pereżempju, wieħed jista’ jieħu numru ta’ unitajiet fl-inġinerija li jkunu kollha ta’ Livell 4 u li bejniethom iġibu 30 krediti u hekk jikkwalifika għal Ċertifikat ta’ Livell 4 fl-Inġinerija. It-taħlita tal-unitajiet tkun trid tiġi approvata mill-MCAST.

L-unitajiet jistgħu jittieħdu wkoll separatament u f’każijiet bħal dawn, l-istudent li jtemm il-kors b’suċċess jingħata ċertifikat għal dik l-unita’ partikolari.
