KSM ELECTIONS 2014

AbsenteeismSDM in KSM will put pressure on the

administration to notify students regarding absent lecturers as soon as possible.

Extra-Curricular Activities Throughout the year SDM in KSM will

make sure to host activities such as “Get to know your Council”, Raising awareness regarding LGBTI concerns, Sports events in aid of local charities, Culture Fest, an annual MCAST Prom, Farewell Events for graduating students, Debates with local personalities as well as Futsal and

Beach Soccer Tournaments.

Student ExchangesSDM in KSM will collaborate closely with University organisations and MCAST so that Student Exchanges are increased.

AssignmentsSDM in KSM will discuss with the

MCAST Administration to find a solution in facilitating the process of collecting

assignments by Gozitan students from Institutes.

SDM in KSM will work with the Institute Directors towards having the possibility

of implementing set time frames for issuing assignment results after the

submission date of the same assignment.

ArtSDM in KSM will work to install various

informative and educational noticeboards around the Campus.

SDM in KSM will work with the MCAST Administration to create an Art Wall.

This will serve as a means for students to express themselves through art.

Online SystemSDM in KSM will work to create a

‘Fora’-based system, applicable to all institutes within the college similar to

the Moodle system already used in the Institute of ICT.

SDM in KSM will work with the MCAST Administration to improve the wifi

systems around the Institutes.

SDM in KSM will work to assure that the transfer of notes between teachers and students is more efficient and practical.

SDM in KSM will look into the possibility of introducing the KSM app with various

facilities to all students.

TransportSDM in KSM will discuss with the new Operator of the Malta Public Transport

Authority to assure reduced student ticket fares and also put pressure to have efficient bus schedule notification boards.

SponsorshipsSDM in KSM will discuss with various

sponsors, a promotion-based idea for the council itself. This will help the council in

financing its work.

Environment SDM in KSM will work to create Green

Areas in collaboration with various MCAST institutes.

SDM in KSM will work to create a green policy that addresses all current

environmental issues and concerns.

SDM in KSM will work to ensure that the present sanitary facilities are kept in the best possible conditions and safe to use

by all students.

SDM in KSM will put pressure to have properly kept parking spaces in all

institutes. These include the painting of parking lines in places where it is absent.

SDM in KSM will ensure that there are enough cigarette bins and garbage bins

around and outside all institutes.

SDM in KSM will ensure that adequate mirrors are present in all restrooms.

SDM in KSM will make sure that clocks are installed in all classrooms.

ConcernsSDM in KSM will work to launch a

campaign through which students can voice their concerns and difficulties to the council in an anonymous way, thus ensuring that every student’s voice is

heard directly by the council.

SDM in KSM will work to construct bicycle shelters over the present bicycle racks next to MCAST Library in Paola and the Institute of ICT. SDM will also look into the possibility of introducing

bicycle racks and shelters in other institutes where needed.

SDM in KSM will keep working on revising the present MCAST Clothing Regulations so students will have fewer

restrictions on what to wear on Campus.

Social PolicySDM in KSM will work to improve the

Social Policy Structure while scheduling a monthly KPS meeting involving all

student organisations. In this way, the council itself can be sure that the

concerns of every organisation is heard and acted upon.

Other BenefitsSDM in KSM will work with the

Administration in launching the KSM Discount Card, which can be used to obtain student discounts on various

products and services.

Maritime InstituteSDM in KSM will look into the possibility of helping maritime students find better timeframes for their time spent at sea. This will be done hand in hand with the

Institute’s administration.
