Addendum No. 3

Tender No. 300-2018

Re: North Facing Dock Wall Reconstruction in the Western Channel, 5 Eireann Quay, Toronto.

Closing Date: 12:00 P.M. Noon (Local Time), January 31, 2019

Please refer to the above Tender Call document in your possession and be advised of the following: 1. General Clarifications To Questions From Bidders

Q1. In regards to detail of area drain found on L02 drawing which is sheet 23 of drawings.

You show the drain under the granite cobble stone. How is water to get to drain? The tight spacing and polymeric sand in cobble stones do not allow water to penetrate down through the slab. Is there a concern for free flowing water on top of slab to get to drain? This will cause sand washout or settlement. Should not the drain be closer to the soil/sod transition area? or HPB be used to allow free flowing water

A1. The drains are provided to deal with any water that may percolate or seep through the

paver stone joints and polymeric sand. Q2. We have counted 63 area drains on drawings the tender form has a count of 60.

Please confirm quantity required A2. Per the drawings, there are 43 drains in Part 1, and 20 drains in Part 2 – for a total of 63

drains.

The tender quantity for Item 28 (Part 1) in the Unit Price is revised to 43 units, per the revised Unit Price Table in Section 3 – Tender Submission Package, Pricing Form – Itemized Prices (enclosed with this addendum).

Q3. Is wifi/cellular available in both the tunnel section and the stairwell? If wifi/cellular is not available can we run a wire for an antennae to the ground surface via the stairwell?

A3. There is no wifi/cellular available in the tunnel section and the stairwell. The

contractor would be responsible for having their own set up in the site trailer. Q4. Is 120VAC power available near the four proposed vibration monitoring locations to

power the sensors, data logger and communication equipment? A4. Contractor should assume that it will have to self-power the monitoring equipment.

Q5. Can a small job box (0.5 m x 0.5 m x 1.0 m) be situated on the floor at each of the proposed locations? If fire code or pedestrian traffic requirements prevent the use of the job boxes, can we mount equipment enclosures on the wall or ceiling? Will the locations be free from potential tampering/false readings due pedestrians?

A5. Toronto and Ports Toronto will work with the contractor to accommodate the

monitoring station locations and positioning. Contractor should ensure that the boxes are tamper proof; foot traffic will not affect readings of appropriately selected equipment (as selected by a tender compliant party). The box dimensions are acceptable.

Q6. Is one setup to monitor noise level adequate? A6. There will and must be 4 locations. The locations will be decided by the City of Toronto. Q7. For turbidity monitoring, what quantifies as regular monitoring? What is the

occurrence required per week? A7. Per Section 01 57 19, Clause 3.1.1 of the specifications, frequency of turbidity

monitoring may vary over the in-water construction period Monitoring will only be performed during in-water operations. Bidders should assume a minimum of 2 monitoring events per week, but this number could increase or decrease.

Q8. What is the load capacity of crib/dock wall once top cap and slab have been

removed? Will equipment be allowed to work off this area? A8. Following removal of the existing concrete cap and deck, work will proceed using barge-

mounted equipment. The contractor is responsible for making his own assessment and determination of load capacities to avoid overloading and damage, and ensure the safety of structures and personnel.

Q9. In regard to Maxxam analytical data provided. Where were the samples taken from? Is there a map of sample locations?

A9. The laboratory analytical data provided is the general soil quality for the property (i.e. 5

Eireann Quay) and should be used as a baseline to determine off-site disposal options of excess soil during construction. Please see site plan attached for borehole locations.

Q10. Are there any contaminated soils below the slab structure to be removed or bore

whole samples? A10. No boreholes where advanced directly below the slab structure. However, boreholes

were advanced in proximity to the structure (see attached Site Plan). The laboratory analytical data previously provided is the general soil quality for the property and it is expected that soil beneath the structure will be of similar quality.
