    OVERVIEW

Petroextract S.A. with an innovative vision

has developed this project that focuses onharnessing the gas from oil producing wells.

The gas obtained from this process is a clean

gas, with a high octane number which may beused in internal combustion engines.

For this reason we have developed a bi-fuelsystem that enables the operation of a dieselengine replacing between 40% and 70% ofdiesel by appropriate pretreated gas, asrequired by engine power.

    MODULAR TREATMENT SYSTEM OF GAS

The MTSG can be transported; installed close to the engine

area, connected to the gas line out of separators and treatthe gas, then connecting to the internal combustion enginesto supply them with fuel gas and allow the bi-fuel system to

    operate.

The recovered condensate back into the process of the

    station.

    MSTG PROCESS DESCRIPTION

The process is divided into three stages described

    below:

  • 8/7/2019 MODULAR TREATMENT SYSTEM OF GAS.rev1

    8/32

    CONDENSATION

    Liquid separation process

    1STAGE

At this stage, the amount of liquids associated with the gasare separated by putting them in contact with the verticalvessel (separator).

The size of the separator will depend on the volume of thegas to be treated, the required period of residence, itsinterior design and the amount of liquid to extract.

    CONDENSATION

    Gasoline Recovery

At the first separator liquid streams that are associatedwith gas are removed, as well as heavy hydrocarbons

such as C6, C7, C8, and liquid water.

In a second instance, the gas passes to a heat exchanger(Chiller A) to undergo a cooling process at knownpressures, thus lowers the temperature of gas to get thedew point temperature for both water and pentanes that

are found in vapor form, achieving in this way they cancondense and separate from the gas as a liquid phase

    Propane and butane recovery

    2STAGE

In this second stage, the gas that comes from the secondseparator is directed to another heat exchanger (Chiller B) todecrease the temperature and reach the dew point forpropane and butane, so as they can be condensate andseparate from the gas through a separator.

All this cooling process is governed by condensing units (UCA / B / C / D) using ecological refrigerant, they allow us toachieve the parameters we need in the process.

    GAS SWEETENING

    3STAGE

Gas sweetening is a term used to explain the processwhich removes components that make this gas is acidic

    GAS SWEETENING

The amount used for each of the molecular sieves wascalculated from data of the chromatography which indicatesthe percentage of acid gases entering.

    The molecularsieves used are:

    Zeolite:remove carbon dioxide (CO2)

    Activated alumina:remove hydrogen sulfide (H2S)
