FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents,

We have had a smooth start to Term 3 and students are happy to be back at school. Welcome to the new families and children who have come to the school.

This term we look forward to the Year 5/6 Camp at Point Walter, Fac-tion Athletics Carnival, Science Week, School Band and Choir and class assemblies. Due to band and choir recommencing this term, Mt Claremont’s Got Talents has been cancelled for this year.

School Watch Security

Unfortunately, over the holiday break we experienced significant van-dalism and graffiti on the school grounds. Our gardener, Ed Hinder has had the task of cleaning up the mess and reporting the damage so it could be fixed before staff and students returned to school. Par-ents were also quick to report the damage to authorities.

School Watch Security is a 24 hours service provided by the Depart-ment of Education. To report any suspicious activity on school prem-ises after hours, please phone: School Watch Security on 1800 177 777 or contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

School Development Day

Last Monday the staff were engaged in Professional Learning focus-ing on Literacy and Digital Technology. The collegiality and profes-sional engagement of staff sharing their knowledge, expertise and skills showed great leadership and collaborative team work.

Administration Upgrade

Planning for the administration renovation is well under way and con-struction is due to start in September. In a few weeks, Camp Austral-ia will relocate to the Undercover Area in accordance with a new li-censing agreement. Bridie will keep parents informed of changes. SCHOOL PHOTO DAY IS COMING!

Dear Parents,

For the duration of COVID-19, please be aware that Kapture photographers are following all rec-

ommended health guidelines and safe practices. Kapture have modified the photography system

whereby photographers will remain at all times 1.5m from students and staff. Photographers will use on-

ly verbal queues and instructions in an effort to uphold a high standard of student presentation. Stu-

dents may be instructed by photographers to use single use sterile combs, use wet wipes or tissues, to

fix collars, buttons and stray hairs - all without physically touching students.

In addition to the above, the class group photo format has been modified whereby a full length

‘character’ pose will be taken of each student in a white studio. The photo is a fun shot with the view to

students showing their personality – ‘strike a pose’. These poses will then be combined with all students

in the class to form the class group photo of 2020. An example of a character pose can be seen as a

purchase option when ordering your photos online.

Our school photo day is coming! Approximately two weeks prior to the photo day every student will re-ceive a Kapture Photography personalised flyer to bring home. The only method of ordering your photos is online through the Kapture website as your payment is secure and can be easily verified at any time.

Sibling orders can ONLY be placed online. Late requests cannot be granted.

You have the option to order a sibling photo package online, however please note sibling orders will close in most instances at 12-midday sharp, one business day before the first photo date. We suggest you place your sibling order as soon as you receive your flyer with your order instructions as places are limited.

Log on to kapture.com.au for your sibling photo order cut-off date and time.

You can place an order online for class or individual photographs at any time for the remainder of the current school year. However, a $20 fee will apply if you order more than 10 days after photography.

If your child is in a sports or special photo, you can use the same school code on your information flyer to view and order these photos on the Kapture website, around the time that school photos are ready to be delivered. Please note class, individual and sibling portraits are not available to view online prior to purchase.

Kapture offer a money back guarantee for any parent who is not fully satisfied with their photo package.

Should you have any queries before or after photo day, please direct them to the Kapture office on 9240

1714 or email [email protected].

All students will be photographed individually on photo day for school administration records AS WELL

as included in their class group presentation available for purchase to all families. Should there be any

reason why your child should NOT be included in the photo shoot –please contact the school office.

Choir Thursday mornings 8.00am - 8.40am

The gate on Jacaranda Ave will be unlocked at 7:55am and locked again at 8:10am. Children need to

be dropped at the gate and will need to walk themselves straight to the Music Room.

Band Thursday after school 3.05 – 4.15pm

The gate on Jacaranda Ave will be unlocked at 4:15pm. Students who need to be collected by parents/

guardians will be dismissed at the gate by Mrs Buchanan. Students who ride a bike home or walk home

Athletics Training

Athletics for Years 3 to 6 starts this term and normally runs Tuesday and Thursday for the term; unfortu-nately Mr Staples has broken his foot and is unable to undertake the Tuesday training.

Thursday training will be available and run by Rebecca Wood and Christine Burke.

Please note that Athletics is a P&C activity and it is assumed that there are supervising parents on site.

In addition, if you do wish your child to undertake athletics training please note that each parent will be expected to assist with training for one Thursday session.

Sessions start Week 1 (Thursday, July 23) at 3:30pm and will go for approx. 45 minutes to 1 hour and will be on the oval across from school.

Thank you
