I was blown away by the volume of high quality work that our students have produced in just 10 months this year. Thank you to Mrs Van for the wonderful art pro- gram you have implemented this year, and well done on all the hard work setting the Art Show up last week. Also, a big thank you to Mrs Vans daughter, Erin, the Myers family and Megan Sammut for their hard work in supporting the running of the Art Show. I hope many of you were able to come and enjoy the show last week. Camps and Excursions Last week our Year 5s enjoyed a big two day experience at Sovereign Hill, our Year 1 and 2 students headed off to Earth Ed in Ballarat for a Science excursion and seven of our senior students went on the Somers Camp for 9 days. This week, Mrs Ihlow, Mrs Burquest and I took our choir to the Ballan and District Health Care for an afternoon of song and music which was a fan- tastic experience for all. On Friday this week, Mr Marquand and I are taking our Year 6 students to Ballarat for the Kanga 8s cricket tournament. Fair to say, its a bust term already! Pupil Free Day A reminder that next Monday is a Pupil Free Day for teachers to engage in Semester 2 Assessment and Reporting. We hope that all families enjoy an extra-long weekend and a chance to relax before the silly season begins. Code of Conduct Reminder As the year wears on, it is timely to remind all members of our school community – students, staff, parents and the wider community – of our Myrniong Primary School Code of Conduct. I have attached it again to this newsletter and cannot stress enough how important it is that we maintain our sense of community and always engage with each other in a respectful and constructive manner. This includes face-to-face and phone interactions, as well as through written avenues, including social media. We have such a fabulous school and strong sense of community and I ask that we continue to uphold these values and expectations together. Finally, our Swimming Program is only 2 weeks away and we have had a huge uptake this year which is fabulous. I hope this program with Paul Sadler to be a positive change/improvement on many levels. Until I see you in person. Regards, David Garner

SCHOOL BANKING Our School Banking day is THURSDAY

Bank Books need to be at the office by 10am.

In 2020 our Grade 3 students enter our BYOD (Bring your own device Program)

Why BYOD iPads only? For a number of years we have been utilising iPads across our classrooms and more recently in our P-2 classrooms. Our students and teachers enjoy working with this device because it has; ● A great range of educational apps

● Quick and easy access to the internet

● Great built in features (camera, microphone and speaker)

● An operating system that is easy to use

● Mobility of the device

● Connectivity to other school devices (projectors, interactive whiteboards, computers and the school network)

Why use iPads for learning? The key success factor for any Netbook or iPad program is not necessarily the selection of the device but rather is the use of devices by engaged, supportive and prepared teachers within the context of a broader pedagogical change program. (Keane, Lang and Pilgrim 2012) Digital technologies are increasingly transforming the way we work, live, learn and play, offering new opportunities, better tailoring educational choices, and unprecedented access to services and resources. Social media, online games, multimedia, cloud computing, interoperable systems and mobile learning have become a pervasive and neces-sary part of everyday life. BYOD @ Myrniong Primary School iPad models Student wishing to participate in the schools BYOD program will need to have an iPad that meets the following re-quirements: 1. iPad Air or above

2. Wi-Fi only (No 3G/4G sim cards are to be installed in any device while at school)

3. No iPad mini’s, as the screen is too small 4. No first issue iPad 2’s as the current IOS is not compatible with many new APPS.

5. The iPad needs to be in a protective case to prevent accidental damage (preferably a drop rated case)

6. A screen protector to stop the screen from becoming scratch and broken
