I hope you all had a great break and our students are refreshed and ready to go. We have a busy and exciting term ahead of us and I want to see our students at school every day. Too many students last term had unwarranted days off . I look forward to seeing those students attend more regularly and join the rest of the students who hardly ever take a day off. Its our job to make sure that happens, as much as it is yours, as the parent. I unashamedly state that this will be a focus for this term. New Staff Welcome to Miss Woodmansey as the Kindy teacher for term 4, as Mrs Ward is on leave. I wish Mrs Ward a well-deserved break and we are excited to have Miss Woodmansey on board. Also a warm welcome to Mrs Sheppard who is working in the Senior SLP hub for the remainder of the term. Great to have you on board. Year 6 Camp Its that time of the year again. I am pleased to report that we did not lose any kids on camp! Thank you Mr Cutting, Mrs Rogers and Mrs Heal for taking time away from your lives and your families to go with the kids. I visited on the Wednesday and all of our students were having a ball. Camp memories are something they will remember for the rest of their lives. Interschool Athletics I was very proud of the students who represented our school at the interschool athletics. We finished third overall which was an outstanding achievement. Well done team! It was very pleasing to see a strong turn out from parents too. Special recognition to the following students who took out individual awards: Klaudia H- Yr 6 Champion Girl, Cody M- Runner Up Year 5 Champion Boy, Olivia M- Runner Up Year 5 Champion Girl, Marshal L- Runner Up Year 6 Champion Boy. I look forward to next year. Well done to Mr Boulay who worked really hard on preparing the students and for his work at the carnival. Mr Eric Jones, our School Board Chair, commented on the way Marangaroo kids handled themselves on the day. All were cheering and supporting each other, congratulating rivals after the race or game and showing great sportsmanship. Congratulations – Mrs Higgins Congratulations to Mrs Higgins, our Year 4/5 teacher and an important member of our team here at Marangaroo. You may (or may not) have noticed that our lovely Mrs Higgins, is expecting her first child. I am sure you will join me in wishing her all the very best for the pregnancy and beyond. Mrs Higgins will be taking maternity leave in 2020. Blue Faction Change and New Faction Names Due to the schools declining numbers over the past few years, there has been plans in the past to reduce the number of factions from 4 to 3. After discussion with the School Board and in preparation for next year we are going to act on this, and reduce our factions to red, green and gold as of 2020. Continued …….

Dear Parents/Carers and Community Members

Welcome back to term 4! I hope you all had a great break and our students are refreshed and ready to go.

The reason for cutting blue is twofold. Firstly, our school colour is blue. Secondly, the faction with the lowest number of children to reallocate is blue faction.

We do have a plan for this, to ensure that the students in blue faction are catered for. The senior students will be involved in renaming the factions, all blue faction students will be asked a preference for a new faction, and all parents from blue faction will be involved in the process. If you have any questions, please see Mr Boulay or myself.

Open School Board Meeting

All parents and community members are welcome to attend the next Board meeting. Annually school boards must have one meeting that is open for anyone to attend. The meeting will be held tomorrow at 3.15pm in the board room.

I look forward to seeing you at the Pre Primary assembly on Friday 8 November. Until then, my door is always open to parents who wish to come and talk.

Regards

Taylor Webb

Principal

The students in the Kindy/Pre-Primary SLP Hub have started this term off fantastically. To begin this term we completed a writing or oral language task about our holiday experiences. The students all did a fantastic job and couldn’t wait to show off their work to Mr Webb!

We are working hard learning about Zones of Regulation and recognising what emotions we feel in each zone. Photos of these emotions are then placed on our Zones of Regulation display board as a visual reminder.

The students are engaging in play based literacy and numeracy tasks throughout the day, which is not only increasing their numeracy and literacy knowledge but also improving their social skills at the same time.
