One cold and moonless night,a lonely dragon shuffled

slowly through a dark denseforest. (Baukje)

Through his big green eyes he

saw a Ben 10 toy hanging froma branch. (Brooke)

The dragon flew up and pulledhard and got the Ben 10 toy out,

whose name was Joe, to comeand help him undo the spider

The little boy liked the toy and saidthank you. On the boy's way out, a

giant black spider grabbed him andtook him to the tip-top of the castle.

The dragons went after the spider. They breathed fire on the

spider and burnt her. But the fire was magic and it didn`t hurt theboy or Ben 10 toy. The spider fell to the bottom of the castle and

the dragons saved Ben 10 toy and the boy. (Charity)

roamed the plain world. The clouds covered the

sun.

The fairies didnt want to walk across the cold

empty world.

After a day of chanting the

rainbow was created.

The rainbow was so beautiful that colour

snapped into the world.

The satisfied fairies now live up inside the

Kyle, Brooklyn and Jessie each made their own sustainable house.Jessie has a really big tank to save the rain water off the roof for a bigfamily.The spouting catches the water and the downpipe takes it into his tank.I would like that at my place because every summer we run short ofwater.

Heres our inventorStanley.He had a problem - his kite wouldnt fly.

He had to think of a solution.He got out his bike and pedalled really fastand . . . . . . up went his kite!

Why did that happen?!

Burton lives in Singapore where thetemperatures are very high. He has hadto think of ways to keep his house cool.

Running an air-conditioning unit to coolthe house would use up a lot of power,sohe has thought of natural ways toproduce his own power and to keep hishouse cool.

1. My model house has solar panels and a wind turbine that sendelectricity

* to the energy light bulbs* to the fridge* to heat washing water for dirty dishes.

2 The big windows face south so little sun gets in.3 The north windows are little and shaded by an overhang.4 The roof is a light colour to reflect the heat of the sun.

5 The roof has insulation on the ceiling.6 There is a gap between the ceiling and the roof for wind to go through;

also on the hot west wall.

In New Zealand we like our big windows to face the sun to let all the heat in!In Singapore they want to keep the heat out. What would the windows be likeon the sunny side of Burtons house?

What do you think of this idea ofgenerating power for the house?

The wheel is the same idea as a mousesexercise wheel. You could invent

something with a little battery to save theenergy so the mouse could power aheater and lighting for his house.

That would be agood idea. I

could light myhouse and lose

weight!

I was thrilled to hear about that.The blades turned the axle attached to thetower.As most designers do, she found a problem.The blades were too heavy for the wind toturn.She did some problem solving and came upwith a fun solution.She attached one end of a very heavyrubber band to the axle at the back and theother end to the tower. When she turns theblades it puts tension on the band andtwists it and when she lets the blades go . . .. . . . . . guess what happens?

Maraea designed and made a windmill out of wood.

Padriaghad such fun with his Power for Everyone unit.

Padraig lives in a house truckso his model sustainable house was a house truck!Its features were* a roof top garden* solar panels* a water collection tank

* it runs on bio-diesel* a security dog* a wood burner* the house battery charges from the motor and runs the lights* gas appliances* wind power

He and his brother put sails on their Lego cars so they were wind powered. What fun.Great idea.

Padraig also did a special investigation into usingtidal power.He found out about the planned KaiparaTidal Power Station.
