Niagara-Wheatfi eld 2020 grads get a special year-end celebration.BY MICHAEL DEPIETROInterim Tribune Editor

Niagara-Wheatfi eld High School’s Class of 2020 got a send-off to remember on Saturday, June 20. After a year fi lled with uncer-tainty and setbacks, school admin-istrators worked with students to create a unique three-part gradu-ation ceremony that included a virtual ceremony, drive-up com-mencement and a community parade led by community fi rst re-sponders, including the Lewiston Police Department.

Traditionally, N-W seniors make a year-end visit to each of the dis-trict’s elementary schools. Don-ning their cap and gown, the se-niors take part in a walk-through parade to the delight of the young-er students.

As such, school administra-tors setup this year’s community parade route to pass each of the district’s four elementary schools: Colonial Village, Edward Town Bridge, Tuscarora Indian School and West Street – in honor of that tradition.

Hundreds of community resi-dents came out on the warm sum-mer afternoon to cheer on the graduates as they drove by. Many camped out in the cars, giving the whole affair a delightful festival at-mosphere. (See photos on Page 10)
