Dr. MacDonald is a former math professor at West Point and this will be his third season with the Panthers. He presented an analysis for variable ticket pricing using various predictors. The results helped the team come up with 3 tiers of pricing for various NHL opponents. He helps analyze data on both the business and hockey sides of the team. The event was well-attended and thanks to Dr. Gershman of the Math Department for inviting Sport and Recreation Management to the event which is part of the Mathematics Colloquium Series. Pictured to the left is Jason Swafford who is a new SPT student. He attended the event and found it meaningful. Take ad- vantage of the many opportunities offered on the NSU campus!

OPPORTUNITY Here’s an opportunity shared by Dr. Jason Gershman, Department Chair,

Department of Mathematics, Associate Professor of Mathematics & Statistics, NSU

ASA, and its public education campaign, ThisIsStatistics, are hosting a Sports Statistics Webi-

nar on September 14, 2016, at 5 p.m. Eastern for high-school and college undergraduate stu-

dents. Students will be able to join in on the live conversation during an interactive Q&A seg-

ment. Space is limited to the first 200 connections. A recording will be available immediately

following the webinar’s conclusion. We’re looking forward to showcasing an exciting behind-

the-scenes perspective of how professional sports rely on data and statistics professionals.

9Round is one of the hottest and fastest growing fitness franchises with over 360 lo-cations worldwide and expected to grow to 1,000 within the next few years! 9Round is a specialized gym/fitness center dedicated to circuit training with an emphasis on kickboxing fitness training. Its 30-minute full body workout incorporates functional, in-terval, high intensity cardiovascular and circuit training regimens. There are nine rounds (stations). There are NO class times. The workout changes EVERY day. A trainer guides each member through the workout to not only demonstrate and teach proper form, put on/remove gloves and motivate, but to also to correct form through-out the workout.

Major in School of Business and Entrepreneurship; Minor in Entrepreneurship, Sport & Recreation Management or Marketing. Strong Athletic ability; Friendly, outgoing, confident, resourceful. Excellent Computer Skills and expertise in Social Media; Ability to multi-task; previous experience with MMA a plus, but not required. Good academic standing: 2.5 GPA or higher. The Huizenga Business School fosters learning through the application of classroom theory in the workplace. Undergraduate students have the option of participating in a university sponsored internship for academic credit. The minimum internship work re-quirement is 180 hours during one semester. Registration for internship is done through the HSBE Office of Academic Advising, not online, after conferral with the NSU Office of Career Development. ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS: good academic standing, GPA of 2.5 or higher, and completion of at least 36 credit hours. Prerequi-site: MKT 3050

The 9Round Business Intern has three main responsibilities:

Sports Sales Account Representative

25,000 base plus 7% commission

Annual take home compensation averages 40-100k last year Note: Email Professor Olson for details.

Summary: Sells and services new and existing accounts. Performs sales and service functions for targeted prospective

clients, programs and sale of new and existing products as assigned. Must love sports and have broad sports

knowledge. Excellent phone skills and outgoing friendly demeanor to build rapport with new and existing customers.

Have current knowledge of professional and collegiate Teams, Players, Coaches, and keep up on current sporting

events. Requires taking initiative, lots of drive and ambition, ability to “talk” sports and quickly learn new hot ticket items

in the sports memorabilia industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Establish new customers via outbound sales by marketing high volume calls daily to customers

Service existing customers by taking orders, presenting a new product and providing problem solving and customer service.

Creative thinking and product development.

Support other divisions within Fanatics Inc.

Review new inventory reports.

Review open order reports and assist in facilitating shipments.

Act as liaison between customers and company’s customer service department.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Ability:

Able to work with minimum supervision and capable of self-checking for completeness and accuracy of work produced.

Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Strong PC, spreadsheet skills.

Must be able to thrive in a fast paced working environment.

Must have good organizational skills and be able to multitask.

Ability to meet goals, schedules and volume of outbound calls.

Must have broad sports knowledge.

Education and Experience

Associates Degree. Bachelor’s preferred.

Must have 3-5 years retail sales experience-inside sales preferred

1-2 years of spreadsheet creation experience using Microsoft Excel.

Telemarketing and outbound sales experience.
