CEO Focus We need your Help. On November 4th you will receive via email an electronic survey asking your opinion as it relates to the economy, local government and future Chamber programming. The survey will be used in two ways: 1. The results will be compared or bench-

marked against other Chambers across the west to see how we compare.

2. Most importantly the results will be used to help the Chamber’ cra- the 2016 business plan during the board retreat in January. This plan will provide maximum return on your investment in the Chamber so please take the me to helps us.

Budgeng Ideas to Market your Business in 2016

As the year is coming to an end, it is me to plan for 2016. As a business owner and/or manager you are forced to be more cre-ave and deliberate with your markeng efforts. As a remind-er, your business has many opons that are cost effecve or even built in your investment with the Chamber. Outside of our daily referrals to people looking for reputable businesses, there are opportunies for your business to reach new and current residents and other businesses through-out the year. Here are some ps to help your business get more exposure:

Spread your “word of mouth” about your business to other Chamber members!

Check out our calendar online www.visitcastlerock.org for up-coming opportunies throughout the year with other members who might be able to connect you to new clients or resources. Don’t forget to budget for the annual events like the upcoming Healthy Living Expo coming in February.

Discounts?

Many Chamber member business offer Member-to-Member and general discounts online for people to use. The coupon or discount is a>ached to your lisng online for everyone to ac-cess. And this service is FREE for our members to promote themselves.

More directed markeng to people looking for your business?

Consider adversing in the Chamber’s new Livability magazine, the VisitCastleRock.org website or at a Chamber event. Each is directed toward a specific audience and costs considerably less than some types of tradional markeng. Also, don’t disregard the use of social media in your markeng efforts. Check out the Chamber’s Facebook page www.FaceBook.com/castlerockchamber

Gain more recognion for your business

Place the Chamber’s investment scker in the window of your business, it recognizes you as a proud member of the Castle Rock Chamber and the business community. Why not tout that in your promoons? Members may use the Castle Rock Cham-ber logo on their website, business cards, staonery and adver-sing. The associaon with the Chamber will add credibility and shows your support of the area business community. For more ideas of how your membership can benefit you, call Alicia Early, Membership Development Director at 303-688-4597 or [email protected].

STUDENTS BEGIN ENTREPRENEURIAL JOURNEY The Young Entrepreneurs Academy, a program of the Castle Rock Cham-ber, kicked off its new year on Mon-day, October 19, with students in grades 7 -12, who have a keen drive to launch their own real businesses. The weekly evening program and credit-bearing elecve (for high school students) a>racts creave and driven students who will receive hands-on experienal learning over 30 weeks that will serve as a founda-on for future business endeavors or advanced collegiate business cours-es. Throughout the year, students will work in close cooperaon with local business leaders, community leaders and educators who use their person-al experiences to demonstrate how to develop business ideas and objec-ves, write a business plan, pitch to investors, obtain funding, register with governmental agencies, estab-lish e-commerce and a web pres-ence, and more.

By the end of the academic year, students own and operate fully-formed and funconing businesses, which may be carried on a-er their graduaon from the program. Developing Leaders in Douglas County

Leadership Douglas County History & Open Space Day Host Sponsors: Cherokee Ranch & Castle Foundaon, Philip S. Miller Acvies Cen-ter, Charles Schwab & Co., Trans America Financial Advisors, Inc., Mr. Greg Hernandez The Leadership Douglas County (LDC) Class of 2016 parcipated in their first monthly session on October 7, with an introducon to Douglas County History and Open Space. The day began in Se-dalia at the 1450’s ScoLsh-style Chero-kee Castle where Mildred Monque Genevieve “Tweet” Kimball lived for nearly fi-y years before turning the land, her prize winning Santa Gertrudis ca>le, the castle and its col-lecons, into a permanent legacy, by establishing a foundaon that has main-tained the estate for public benefit since her death in 1999. Douglas County Open Space Natural Resources Specialist Jackie Sanderson hosted the class at the privately held Prairie Canyon Ranch, where pastures have had ca>le almost connuously since Frederick Bartruff, a German im-migrant, created a homestead in the early 1860s. Douglas County invites the public to visit the Ranch once a year, in August, or the Ranch may be visited by appointment.

“Be intenonal, grateful, acve, and disrupve to find your purpose, be

successful and leave a legacy.“ Class of 2016 parcipant

Class parcipants were challenged to consider their leadership as a 24/7 com-mitment—“Elite Leadership”—rather than an eight hour job. Greg Hernandez, author of Refining Moments, provided strategies for leaders and encouraged the class to not to zoom past the mo-ments that can make us, break us, shape us and, if we allow, refine us. Tweet’ Kimball’s vision and generous bequest. Douglas County’s intenonal commitment to preserve, protect and maintain open spaces for its cizens. Castle Rock’s use of dedicated funds to provide indoor and outdoor recreaon-al acvies and experiences for resi-dents. Elite Leadership. None of these happen by wishful thinking. All of these require an intenonal and relentless focus on personal and community vi-sion and mission. If you are interested in applying to the LDC program and would like to preview the program by aending a class day, please let us know! Agendas are posted one week prior to each class, which meets on the first Wednesday of each month.

Leadership Douglas County is

designed to broaden parcipant knowledge of the community while

enhancing leadership skills, to increase the strength and

effecveness of our community leaders.

For more informaon on the Leadership Douglas County program, please visit leadershipdouglascounty.org, call Carrie Buchan at (720) 440-3726 or email [email protected]. LDC gratefully acknowledges these major sponsors: Patron Sponsors—BreakThroughs, Inc., Castle Rock Chamber of Commerce, City of Lone Tree, Douglas County Government, Highlands Ranch Metro District, Town of Parker. Program Spon-sors—Black Hills Energy, Charles Schwab & Co., Douglas County Li-braries, South Metro Fire Rescue Authority, Town of Castle Rock.

make each monthly session a success.
