November 2019, Issue #160 PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Greetings OAA Artists, Thanks to Carol, for hosting our "Show and Tell" at her house in October. We had a really interesting discussion about our art, inspirations, challenges and wishes for our upcoming work. Thanks to all those who attended and shared with us, it is always nice to meet and get to know one another better. The wine, nibbles and prize made it even more delectable. Congratulations to those who have recently sold their work at the Nectar Gallery. Our exhibit last month was one of the most interesting yet. I look forward to seeing what you will bring to hang for the month of November, which is our Fall Award Show submission. For the Fall Award Show we will be doing things a little differently, we're going to have our work judged by jurors instead of member's choice. Given that we have a smaller venue than in the past and we have fewer members participating it seemed like a worthwhile change for us to make this year. We have four categories to enter, oil, acrylic, watercolour and other. We will be serving food and wine and there will be prizes to win, so do come along, even if you aren't submitting. It should be a fun night! In December we will be having a volunteer appreciation night for all those who have volunteered over these past years. Let us know if you wish to attend, we will be tallying up interest before deciding on the restaurant of choice. We want to thank all those who have made valuable contributions to our organization over the years, past and present. We are open to members utilizing the Nectar Gallery for solo shows. Let us know if you are interested and we can pass along the information about what is involved. Hope you are enjoying the many vibrant colours of fall and hope it inspires you to create. WALL SPACE GALLERY Drew Mosley: Hellocene/New Beginnings Show dates: November 2 - 23, 2019 Artist Reception: Saturday, November 2, 5-8 pm

WALL SPACE GALLERY is proud to present the latest exhibition by Ottawa artist Drew Mosley. Drew Mosley forms fantastical narratives inspired by the study of natural history, mycology, ancient civilizations and social evolution. His works tie together contemporary concerns of collapsing ecosystems, hyper-consumerism, and capitalism in a Dutch Renaissance style. Played out across Mosley’s canvases are stories of misguided notions of wealth and social status. In a world with an uncertain future, the characters populating Mosley’s fairytale environments offer examples of empathy, community and reverence for nature. Mosley’s overall oeuvre speaks to a desire for a shared existence with greater environmental and social consciousness.
