God saw she was getting tired

And a cure was not to be.

So He put His arms around her

And whispered, “Come with Me.”

With tearful eyes we watched her suffer

And saw her fade away.

Although we loved her dearly,

We could not make her stay.

A golden heart stopped beating,

Hard working hands to rest.

God broke our hearts to prove to us

He only takes the best.

Kirby

Dear Fellow Corvette Club of Richmond Members,

As we all know, we lost one of our beloved members on Tuesday, September 15 @ 7:10 PM, Pat Roper, beloved wife of Barry Roper, a Sister and a Mother and Grand-mother to loving children and Grandchildren; went to Heaven. We loved her too, and we love Barry.

Barry wrote to Marcie and me, and wanted us to know how much pleasure he and Pat have enjoyed since joining the club in 2008. Barry went on to say that one of his partners observed soon after they joined, “you’ve not only gotten a new car, you’ve gotten a whole new set of friends!” Barry felt he could not have said it any better! Bar-ry wanted us to know that he and Pat hated to miss club functions for so long, but Pat’s health precluded it. He will see us all when things settle down a bit, and he sends all CCR members a sincere and heartfelt THANK YOU from his family to all CCR member, and asked all to stay healthy and hold tight to each other….

At Pat’s services, as Marcie and I greeted the many CCR members who were able to attend, I reflected on what a great family CCR can become! First you join, and you have a whole bunch of new acquaintances. As you become more involved and time passes, you make a lot of friends. As more time passes and involve-ment continues, you make really good friends. We care about each other. We become family. It is good.

Now, are you ready for some fun? Try Trivial Challenge on October 10, OD’d by Paul Murman. Marcie and I will attend for the third year and it is loads of laughs, and there is food too (pot luck dinner organized by Ka-ren Dubosky). Come and join us!

Then there is the Mariner’s landing weekend October 16 and 17, organized by Bob Brody and Pot Luck Din-ner organized again by Karen Dubosky (Bless her!). Included as an optional activity that weekend is a cruise to Chateau Morrisette! Sound fabulous, wish we could go!

Kathy and Rick Franklin are OD’ing a cruise to Monticello with a lunch stop at Michie Tavern on November 7. Even if you have been to Monticello before, come on and join us, as it is about the camaraderie as well as the history of Monticello! Marcie and I go every time we have visiting relatives, and we are going again (how many times will this be?).

Don’t miss this; December 5, Christmas Dinner Dance at Meadowbrook Country Club! It will be truly fabu-lous; great atmosphere, great food, great service, and an awesome band. It is only $35 per member plus a cash bar. Nonmembers are welcome at $70/person (due to fees, on line registration is slightly more). The club subsidizes 50% of the actual cost for members, so this is truly a bargain evening! Let’s get 100 at-tendees this year, sign up now!

The next day, December 6, we will take 5 convertible to the Parade and be honored to carry representatives of the Miss Virginia and Miss State Fair Pageant. As of this writing there are only 3 spots remaining availa-ble, so sign up on the CCR web site under events!

I have been hearing for many years about the good times at the Virginia Beach Lights outing, to be held this year on December 12. This is OD’d by the well-known Group; Danny and The Dolan’s, making another re-turn engagement to Virginia Beach during the Christmas Season. Check it out! One of these years Marcie and I will be able to go!

That closes out 2015! Can you believe it!

Save the wave and enjoy the ride in your Corvette!

Your CCR Buddy,

Elections and Report of The Nominating Committee

The Corvette Club of Richmond By-Laws call for nominations for office to be made at the October and November General Membership meetings. Elections are to be held at the November member-ship meeting.

Currently, this is the slate of candidate running for office for the 2016 year:

Rick Franklin-President

Bob Brody-Vice President

JR Walker-Treasurer

Mary Belcher-Recording Secretary

Donna Carr-Corresponding Secretary

Bubba Carr-Sergeant at Arms

Mike Starr-Webmaster

James Wilson-Newsletter Editor

Dave Dolan-Historian

While we have a candidate for each officer position, nominations remain open and can either be sent to all three nominating committee members, or nominations can be made at the October or Novem-ber General Membership meetings. It is expected that anyone being nominated has had their nomi-nation discussed with those placing them in nominations, and the candidate has agreed to being nominated. It is also expected that the candidate has taken the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the duties of the position that they may be nominated for.

In the event we have more than one candidate for any officer position, a ballot will be taken at the November General Membership meeting. For CCR members unable to attend that meeting, an ab-sentee ballot will be published in the November newsletter and also posted on the CCR web site. Absentee ballots must be delivered to the CCR PO Box by election day, Friday, November 13 in or-der to be counted.

Let's see...what can I say about our weekend at Corve es at Carlisle? Well, it hasn't taken long for the C7s to take over‐‐6 of the 8 cars in our caravan were C7s. Needless to say, we didn't need to stop for gas and there were no breakdowns along the way! I guess John Q. Public knows how good Corve te brakes are‐‐because he tested us around Bealeton as he tried to push us (caravan leader) off the road with his RV to take our lane at the exit. Close call! We had a breakfast stop about 1 1/2 hours into the trip and then a quick stop at a rest area on I‐81. Next stop was to our hotel to check in and unload the car before heading to the fairgrounds. I must say that I can now cross off "visi ng a 3rd world country" from my bucket list because that's what it felt like walking into the deserted lobby of our Knights Inn (formerly Howard Johnsons) at about 1 pm. The lobby was dark and the decor old and thri ‐shop shabby. The restaurant/bar was chained with a padlock alt‐hough its sign read "OPEN." A sign on the registra on desk announced check‐in was at 2 pm. That was rea‐sonable, but there was no one in sight and even though we whistled and hollered out hoping to raise some‐one, no one answered. We even tried calling the hotel but only got an answering machine. It was eerie. We had had bad vibes about this place from the start when we had trouble ge ng confirma on numbers for our reserva ons and because of this, Kirby made a back up reserva on at another hotel. When we finally dug up someone to check us in, half of us didn't have the reserva ons we had made. Not good! Member Vincent Charity had booked a hotel up the road and a er checking in, he came back to check on us. He took Norma Bonner & Danny Terry and Nancy & Jim Kavalieratos to his hotel where they were able to get a room. Kirby gave his reserva on to Dan T (sorry, forgot last name) and opted for his backup hotel. Perry and Edee Leven‐son were brave souls and also stayed with us at this freaky "Hotel California." We lucked out with the weather this year. It was a li le warmer on Saturday but Friday was perfect! We did a lot of walking around and ran into a bunch of other CCR members at the fairgrounds (and prospec ve mem-bers Lorna & Ken spor ng their CCR t-shirts from the August mee ng). I don't know why, but we didn't take many pictures this year. If you took pics, please be sure to send them to Mike Star for the website. Dave & I didn't buy much while there‐‐unlike Nancy & Jim. Nancy's main reason for hi ng Carlisle was to get a new exhaust system for her '07 conver ble. Because she was at Carlisle, she got a great price, got to see and hear a bunch of different exhausts and chose the Borla EXTREME. Thanks to hearing Kirby talking on the club radi‐os on the caravan up about all the "bling" he thought Walter & Penny Johnson should buy for their Ve e gave Nancy an idea to add a li le more bling to her rear (the '07, that is). So, out came the credit card again for a C6 exhaust pipe filler plate and chrome tail light kit. Their Ve e looked and sounded sweet for the parade!

Perry & Edee joined us Friday night at the Pickled Pig (the hotel lounge). They were good sports about having to stay at this horrible Hotel California I had suggested to everyone. Although the beers came quickly, ge ng something to eat took a while. It seems that although the padlock had come off the lounge, the kitchen was s ll locked up. (Can you believe it??)  We were about to order pizza delivery (to the lounge!!) when we finally hear that the kitchen was open. The menu was a joke with most items blacked out. Dave asked the bartend‐er/server what she recommended and we all se led for steak and cheese sandwiches. We did a lot of talking and a lot of laughing that night. What an experience! Oh yeah. Perry had been to India and could speak a li le Hindi. One of his phrases was "My heart is filled with song." We got him to say that over and over and we laughed and talked and drank un l it was me to head to our rooms. Dave & I slept in the next morning and when we went to the fairgrounds we headed straight to Gate 1 where parade par cipants would line up later. Dan T was already lined up near us so we called Nancy & Jim and Beach Bobbi & Bill (from Beachcombers) and had them park in spaces close to us. Kirby had enough of the heat on Saturday and chose his hotel pool over the parade (uh oh...bragging that his hotel had a pool!  Lucky!!) The parade was fabulous and the crowds were enormous. UNbelievable!

This year we were closer to the beginning of the parade, so we weren't parked near the same restaurant (Alibis) as last year. It took Smartphones to get us to Alibis‐‐and then because we were six at a table instead of two at the bar, service was slow‐‐plus‐‐servers called in sick (maybe to watch the parade) so the restaurant was shorthanded! (Imagine that.  Another problem!) At 9:30 pm, tow trucks were wai ng to tow parade cars parked in the middle of the road or on the wrong side of the road. Luckily we got back to our cars in me. We all went back to our hotels and in the morning Dave & I headed to Charlestown, WV to Hollywood Casino where we ran into Gayle Murman (another Hollywood regular). Dave wanted me to tell all C5, C6 & C7 owners who aren't considering Carlisle because they're not looking to buy anything for their Ve es to consider going to Carlisle next year and doing the parade It is worth the trip!

I'm pre y known for my 4‐le er words but this year I found a NEW one that isn't offensive. I think you'll hear it alot! It is TA DA! (Oh yeah. My heart is filled with song!)

Once again the Corvette Club of Richmond had the opportunity to promote our club to the public. This time it was the State Fair of Virginia. We were asked by a representative of the State Fair if CCR would be willing to provide Corvette convertibles (and drivers) for some of the dignitaries for the parade on Sunday, September 27. This is the second time since I’ve been a member of CCR that we have been asked to be part of the State Fair parade. Since the number

of Vettes requested was limited, only the first ten to sign up were accepted and that list was later reduced to six.

The following is a list of the dignitaries and their drivers:

Savannah Lane, Miss Virginia 2016 – Driven by Paul Murman

Morgan Rhudy, Miss State Fair of Virginia’s Outstanding Teen 2016 – Driven by Danny Terry

Raygen Wright, Miss State Fair of Virginia’s Princess 2016 - Driven by Bob Ste-vens

Hayley Boland, Miss Virginia’s Outstanding Teen 2016 – Driven by Linda Walker

Chairman, Farm Bureau, – Driven by Mel Rice

Harlie Dale, Miss State Fair of Virginia 2016 – Driven by Cheryl Maddern

In the staging area before the parade we got an opportunity to meet and get some pictures with the parade participants. Danny Terry got the opportunity to dis-cuss various topics with what appeared to be a relative of R2D2. Unfortunately, I do not know what they dis-cussed.

The parade began at 4 P.M. and traveled through the entire midway. The distance was almost a mile and the crowd along the entire parade route was very large and very enthusiastic. The people we drove were spread though out the parade so we were not one di-

rectly behind the other. Although we were few in number, the number of people we reached was huge. Most of us had our Corvette Club of Richmond banners on our windshields and thus, CCR was in every picture tak-en of the dignitary.

Afterwards, we were allowed to park in a reserved lot next to the staging area and we had free access to the Fair. I thanked the person who asked us to help and indicated that we would be willing to help in the future. She responded that we would be asked again. I would also like to thank all the CCR members who volun-teered for and assisted in this event.

Trivial Challenge IV ODs Paul Murman and Karen Dubosky Upcoming Event

Are you smarter than a Mustang owner? Then prove it.

On Saturday, October 10, 2015, beginning around 6:00 p.m., we will have our fourth annual game night.

We will play a version of that popular game of the 1970s called Trivial Pursuit. The goal will be to answer

as many questions correctly within a specific time limit. Points will be awarded for correct answers with

more points earned based on how quickly the questions are answered. Additional points can be earned for

a variety of reasons only known to the OD and those who have attended in the past. The winner will be

awarded the coveted revolving “Smart _ _ _” trophy, currently held by last year’s winning team’s captain.

So that no one person is embarrassed, we will compete in four person teams. Teams will be created based

on random selection. All questions will be selected from the “easy” category, except for the team that has

Rick Franklin as a member. His team only gets questions from the most difficult category. Following the

agenda used last year, and, as is the custom in our club, a potluck meal will also part of the experience.

The location will be the clubhouse for the Brickshire Residential Community (which is near the Brickshire

Golf Course in New Kent, not far from Colonial Downs). Each couple will pay $10.00 to help cover the

rental of the clubhouse. Those who sign up will be contacted regarding their contribution to the potluck

meal. This is also a BYOB event. While on the surface this may seem like an event that requires some

measure of intellect, but nothing could be farther from the truth (I based my conclusion on those who partici-

pated in the past and their demonstration of trivial knowledge). It is an event that you will spend more time

laughing than trying to answer questions. If you doubt me, ask someone who participated in the past. Eve-

ryone is encouraged to sign-up early and give fun a chance.

Christmas Dinner Dance Montgomery’s—OD December 5, 2015

Upcoming Event Get your dancing shoes out and shine ‘em up! Once again we are returning to the fabulous Mead-owbrook Country Club (3700 Cogbill Road, Richmond, Virginia 23234) for an evening of great food, fellowship and dancing to the swing of a truly marvelous band known as L.P. & Company (more on the band later). Happy hour will begin at 6:00 PM with a cash bar and light hors d'oeu-vres.

This Christmas party is a “dress up” event, with many leaning toward the formal side (not tuxedo formal however, but you can wear one if you wish!), so please dress accordingly. No coat and tie is required for men, but customarily we wear them (for a while anyway!). Ladies you know what to do! The cost for this year’s party is unchanged from last year; just $35 for members and $70 for non-member guests. For the purpose of definition, a non-member guest is anyone who has not paid either the $25 annual membership dues or paid the $10 membership fee for their spouse or signifi-cant other.

Dinner will be served by the marvelous staff at Meadowbrook beginning at 7 PM. You must identify your entrée selection with your payment. If you do not identify your selection, one will be made for you (we would prefer for you to make the selection, so please be sure to do so!).

This year you have lots of ways to sign up for the Christmas Dinner dance. You should have re-ceived an email dues renewal notice along with a Christmas Dinner Dance registration form. You can mail in the renewal form and dinner dance registration form along with your total payment. You can also register for the Christmas Dinner Dance and pay on line using the CorvetteClubOfRich-mond.com web-site. Go to the “events” tab and find the Christmas Dinner Dance and follow the instructions. Please note there is a $5 per person surcharge to pay for the Dinner Dance on line to cover the fees associated with on line payment. You will see the opportunity to make your entrée choice selections whether you use the Christmas Dinner Dance paper registration form, or you elect to register for the Dinner Dance on line. Finally, you can sign up to attend the dinner dance in the event books at the General Membership meetings in October and November, but you will still have to make your entrée selections on the mail in paper form or on line, and make your payment.

Don’t miss this event! Last year we had just over 90 people attend and we all had a great time! This year let’s see if we can get at least 100 attending! Come on out and enjoy! Did I mention that the $35 member registration fee is only half of the actual cost of the event? (NO, I didn’t!). The club pays half for you! This is one of your benefits of membership, so please take advantage of that benefit and attend this year if you have not in the past. All of you new members who have joined since we had the Christmas Dinner Dance last year, this is a great event to meet more members and have a marvelous evening while you do so.

Finally, just be there or be SQUARE!

Your CCR buddy, Kirby

Holiday Lights at the Beach Danny Terry & Dolan’s—OD

Dec. 12,2015 Upcoming Event

Danny and Norma’s 15th Annual Holiday Lights at the Beach event in Virginia Beach is Saturday, December 12th. This is a popular event because it definitely covers CCR’s 3-Fs (Food, Fun & Fel-lowship) with: a great Corvette caravan, dinner at a beach restaurant, a chance to drive the board-walk decked out for Christmas, a party with music, dancing, fun games of chance, and for the cra-zies among us, a polar bear plunge into the Atlantic! And because this is an overnight event, we have plenty of time for mingling and socializing with fellow Corvette Enthusiasts during the dinner, the party and at the complimentary breakfast the next morning.

Details: We will meet at 11:30 a.m. at the Dairy Queen at Route 5 & 295 and depart at noon. We will caravan by way of scenic back roads and again this year Susan Jaworski and Bill Hardy have invited us to their Suffolk home for a pitstop. From there, we’ll travel to the hotel, check in and get situated before heading out around 5 pm for a great dinner at Ru-dees on the Inlet (227 Mediterranean Ave).

After dinner, feel free to take the Holiday Lights at the Beach tour on the boardwalk or head back to the hotel to prepare for our evening party. Holiday Lights at the Beach stretches from 2nd Street to 34th Street along the boardwalk with over 250 animated nautical and holiday-themed light dis-plays! It is the largest grand illumination display to grace the Atlantic seaboard AND each year the order of light displays is changed to help create a new and fresh experience for visitors. The cost per car is nominal (about $15) and includes a CD of holiday music.

Please make your own hotel reservations 1-757-437-9100 (Country Inn & Suites at 1801 At-lantic Avenue) and ask for our special CCR $75 rate. The hotel has good, covered parking and if you’ve put your Vette away for the winter, come in your OTC (other than Corvette). We have an indoor pool, so bring your suits! Please pack a cooler with your beverage of choice for after din-ner partying and bring along some munchies to share. If you’re feeling lucky, join Dave Dolan in a little game of Texas Hold’em OR a game of LCR $1 dice game (Left-Center-Right). Around 9:30 pm CCR’s Polar Bear Club will take a dip in the ocean. Join them if you dare!

You'll never think about Corvette the same way again after

your drive the Z06 supercar By Matthew DeBord September 12, 2015 12:30 PM

Business Insider readers already know that we like the Chevy Corvette Stingray.

We named it our 2014 Car of the Year, concluding that although it might not be the mythical Corvette

of the Mind — that honor goes to the second-generation version of the car from the early 1960s or

the third-gen Vette, built from 1968 to 1982 — it was certainly the best Corvette to yet emerge from

the storied bluegrass assembly line in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

But you should know something. There's actually a better Vette.

A much better Vette.

There's just one drawback. While the Stingray (technically the C7, or seventh generation of the all-

American sports car) is a deeply compelling motoring experience, the better Vette is a way of life.

It's the Z06, and it's a living, breathing supercar.

The stats: 650 horsepower, 650 f00t-pounds of torque. You'll know this because Chevy has included

a small plaque with the data, located on the center console.

Other stats: 0-60 in 2.9 seconds, according the manufactur-

er. And one more stat: Just look at it!

For comparison, here's a first-generation Vette, a charming

little thing:

And here's the Z06:

You've come a long way,

baby.

GM let us borrow a Z06 for a weekend, and we took the car and its

supercharged V8 engine and its groovy targa roof all the way out to

eastern Long Island, then back across Manhattan and into New

Jersey. If this sounds like fun, it was.

in the news Page 24 October 2015

Page 25: Oct. 2015 Newsletter - Corvette Club of Richmond · Page 3 A Message from the President October 2015 Kirby Dear Fellow Corvette Club of Richmond Members, As we all know, we lost one

But it was also an exercise in personal discipline and focus. The Stingray is a Corvette through and

through and therefore not a well-mannered Buick either in town or on the highway. But driving it is

like piloting a Honda Civic when compared with the Z06's snarling mechanical dragon, which quite

often feels as if it's powered by a Saturn V rocket that woke up on the dark side of the moon.

The performance is dismaying and actually rather difficult to properly assess without access to a

track. When we reviewed the Stingray, we pointed out that for its sub-$100,000 price, you get a car

that, although front-engined, could be every bit as much the track warrior as a mid-engined,

$270,000 Ferrari 458. A street-legal race car for the budget-minded.

The Z06 also comes in at less than $100,000. High-performance Vettes are nothing new. This Z06

can trace its heritage back to the 1960s, when the designation first emerged. Corvette's role at GM

is to push the envelope.

That monumental LT4 eight-banger is a good example; General Motors says it's the most powerful

engine it has created in its more than 100-year history.

In my case, it was mated to a seven-speed manual transmission (you can also get an automatic)

equipped with a nifty rev-matching feature that will rhyme your engine speeds with your downshifts

and match them better than you can with your left and right foot. You don't need to flirt with escape

velocities to derive gobs of unholy human pleasure from that powertrain setup.

True, the entire arrangement is specifically designed to take gasoline and transform it ruthlessly and

rapidly into raw speed and a sound that will make you curse the quiet. But in mild-mannered freeway

cruising, you can get the Z06 up around 20 mpg, which is sort of mesmerizing when you consider

that while I was doing this on the Long Island Expressway, a Lamborghini Aventador came scream-

ing up alongside and I thought, "Well, it's pretty much you and me, bub, on this stretch of road —

nothing else can touch us."

And, for the record, I didn't act on that knowledge as the Lambo wailed off into the distance, achiev-

ing something like 12 mpg for its exertions.

More Stingray

The design of the Z06 is best described as the Stingway with just MORE. More pronounced angles,

more aggressive adornments, and more aerodynamic elements. More, more, more. The overall

package does feel completely different from the Stingray, even though the bones of both cars are

effectively the same. When underway, the Stingray, with a mere 505 horsepower, feels light and

flicky. The Z06 feels like it could blot out the Sun with violent combustion. In the Stingray, you smile.

In the Z06, you furrow your brow and tighten your grip.

in the news Page 25 October 2015

Page 26: Oct. 2015 Newsletter - Corvette Club of Richmond · Page 3 A Message from the President October 2015 Kirby Dear Fellow Corvette Club of Richmond Members, As we all know, we lost one

You simply can't relax in the Z06 — an understandable state of affairs given that this car is com-

pletely and totally too much for everyday living. It commands your attention. But the thing only costs

about $90,000. This definitely should not be. But there it is.

So only thing standing between a lot of folks and a Z06 is the stigma associated with Corvette own-

ership. In this respect, the Z06 is meant to be something of a trans-Vette. Yes, it's a Corvette. But it's

a Corvette that hangs out with Pagani Huayras and drinks good tequila. The words "singles bar"

aren't printed in the owners manual. The word "Nurburgring" is.

And believe me, the Z06 is truly a machine that longs for the race track: A few months back, I

watched the competition version tear around Watkins Glen International in impressive fashion, being

chased by Ferraris and BMWs. (It was the C7.R, the GT racing version of the Z06.)

New mindshare for the legendary Vette

Ever since the "Boogie Nights" third-gen Vette established itself in the collective imagination as the

preferred vehicle of the male midlife crisis, Corvette has been trying to modify its reputation. The ef-

fort has always been honest and determined, but the fact is that it's taken literally decades. The cur-

rent Z06 stands at the pinnacle of that undertaking.

That said, it's hard to tell if it will actually work. When Vettes were for guys going through changes,

Porsche, BMW, Ferrari, and Lamborghini were exotic imports. But now the competition is every-

where. It used to be rare to spot a Porsche 911 in the American wild. Now you can't swing an old

crankshaft in Los Angeles without hitting one.

So even thought it's easier to justify buying a Vette now than it used to be, it's harder to convince

yourself that the car is really as good as it looks on paper. And so those creeping doubts combined

with the Vette's, um ... reputation lead you naturally toward Porsche.

However, the Z06, if experienced under proper conditions (that would not be on a 10-minute test

drive) is adequately mind-blowing to alter this familiar psychological dynamic.

It's too early in Corvette's Generation 7 to tell if we've crossed over into truly new territory. The Z06,

however, is a departure, and not simply because this is both the most powerful and most technologi-

cally advanced Vette GM has ever created. Inside and out, it was designed to mean something

new. General Motors examined the epistemology of Corvette, found it wanting, and took the steps

necessary to change hearts and minds.

With the Stingray, the steps were huge. With the Z06, they're gigantic.

Honestly, I think the engineers doth protest too much with the Zo6. They didn't really need to stretch

quite this far, to reach for distant supernovas and figure out a way to reshape them as a drop-top

two-seater that sounds like it has eight live volcanoes under the hood.

But then again, you don't change hearts and minds by holding back.

REVS & RUMBLES @ THE NCM Of con nuing concern to CCR members and those of Corve e Clubs across the na on is the ongoing legal ac on ini ally described in the September NCM Ambassador report. The presenta on shared previously will not be rehashed except to say that the issue is one of noise created by the opera‐

on of the NCM MotorSports Park during its first year of opera on and the complaints it has generated from a group of Clark Circle residents residing in the vicinity of the track.

The updated informa on is borrowed heavily from a narra ve provided by Stephanie Morrill, overseer of the NCM Ambassador program, on the Ambassadors' Facebook page earlier in the month. On 09/09/15, the Code Enforcement Board conducted a hearing on the NCM's appeal of the cita on issued by the Planning Commission. Its decision was to uphold the ci‐ta on regarding the NCM having opened the Park without a cer ficate of occupancy. The PC Director then submi ed his recommenda on as to what should be required of the NCM to address the issues in the cita on. Problema cally, the main ac on required the NCM to cease construc on and cancel all scheduled events a er the weekend of September 12‐13 un l issues are resolved. Ci ng ques onable authority of the CEB to issue the cessa on or‐der, the NCM a orney appealed the decision to the District Court. That ac on allows con n‐ued interim opera on while permi ng ongoing nego a on for ul mate resolu on. It also facilitates comple on of the sound study previously authorized to generate specific op ons to effec vely reduce the noise levels.

A noise abatement berm is already under construc on and is within days of comple on. While all par es agree that it is not the defini ve sound deterrent, it does lower the sound level to some extent and provide a visual barrier. Immediate and full cancella on of ac vi es will affect 15 scheduled events for 2015. The impact on exis ng contracts also affects booked hotel rooms, emergency services, corner workers, etc., and creates immediate nega‐

ve economic consequences for the community. Obviously it is desirable to maintain opera‐ons while abatement measures are agreed upon and constructed to the sa sfac on of all

par es. Hopefully this is a workable scenario but at this me the District Court ruling is pending with the outcome yet to be determined. Con nuing . . .

CORVETTE RACING AT COTA: Pair of Prototype Podium Positions Garcia, Magnussen lead GTLM efforts for Corvette Racing

Wayne Taylor Racing, VisitFlorida.com Racing second and third overall Tough fight for both Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs in GTLM

Chevrolet closes in on Prototype Engine Manufacturer titleCorvette Racing's Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen remain in the hunt for the GT Le Mans (GTLM) Driver's title in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship headed to the season's final race.

The pairing led the team's efforts with the two Chevrolet Cor-vette C7.Rs on Saturday in the Lone Star Le Mans race at Circuit of The Americas. Winners of the first two events of 2015 - the Rolex 24 At Daytona and Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring - Gar-cia, Magnussen and the rest of Corvette Racing can now turn their attention to the 10-hour Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta in two weeks time.

Also in Saturday's TUDOR Championship race, Wayne Taylor Racing and VisitFlorida.com Racing scored podium finishes with their Corvette Daytona Prototypes to move Chevrolet closer to clinching its fourth consecutive Prototype Engine Manufacturer Championship.

Jordan Taylor and Ricky Taylor placed second in Wayne Taylor Racing's No. 10 Konica Minolta Corvette DP for their third runner-up finish of the season. Prototype championship leaders Rich-ard Westbrook and Michael Valiante were third in VisitFlorida.com Racing's No. 90 Corvette DP and unofficially increased their points lead to six points heading to Petit Le Mans.

Action Express Racing's two Corvette DPs are tied for second in the championship after Satur-day's race. Eric Curran and Dane Cameron were fifth in their No. 31 Whelen Engineering Corvette DP after leading the race early, while defending Prototype champions Joao Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi were sixth in the No. 5 Mustang Sampling Corvette DP.

In GTLM, Garcia started fourth and drove the first 90 minutes in the oppressive heat and was able to stick with the lead cars during his double stint. Magnussen took over at that point and attempted to keep the No. 3 Corvette close in the race's final hour. However he had to stop two laps from the end for a late splash of fuel and finished sixth.

Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner, winners of the 24 Hours of Le Mans with Jordan Taylor in the GTE Pro class, placed eighth in GTLM with their No. 4 Chevrolet Corvette C7.R. Milner started the race from sixth and gained a spot early. After struggling early in the week, the stronger pace for the No. 4 Corvette was evident early on.

Milner drove the opening 80 minutes before the No. 4 crew called him to pitlane in a strategic call. Gavin replaced Milner on the stop and rejoined the field just before the race's second and final full-course caution period. Gavin ran second on the restart and tried to hold his position on older tires compared to the rest of his competitors.

The final race for the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship is Petit Le Mans on Saturday, Oct. 3 from Road Atlanta in Braselton, Ga.
