2 About OpenText RightFax
This section provides an overview of OpenText RightFax 10.6 Feature Pack 1, Service Release 3.
OpenText RightFax 10.6 Feature Pack 1, Service Release 3 includes bug fixes and enhancements
since the release of OpenText RightFax Feature Pack 1. For details about what is included, see
Section 5, Fixed Issues.
2.1 New Features
2.1.1 New Features in this Release
2.1.1.1 PCL6 Conversion Enhancements
The following PCL6 registry keys have been replaced with a configuration file called PCL6.xml in the
RightFax\Shared Files folder. This file will be created with default settings if it does not already exist
when the PCL converter starts up. The values in the XML file override any matching command line
arguments.
Registry Key New Process ControlPCLFileName Add the file name to the end of the arguments. The file must be in
the Shared Files\PCL folder PCL6AdditionalParams Add each key to the XML file.
PCL6_DeviceName Change -sDEVICE=tiffg3 to -sDevice=<New Device Driver>
OpenText RightFax 10.6 Feature Pack 1, Service Release 3 Release Notes
4
PCL6_GetResolutionFromPCL Add the following line to the XML file:
<NamedValue Name="GetResFromPCLFile" Value="True" />
PCL6_NormalMode_RParam Add -r=100
(if -r is not set, the command line value, if any, will be used.) PCL6_FineMode_RParam Add -r=200
(if -r is not set, the command line value, if any, will be used.)
PCL6_TextAlphaBitsParam Now handled by ConversionControl.xml
PCL6_DownscaleFactor Add:
-dDownScaleFactor=<value> -sDEVICE=tiffscaled
-sCompression=g3
where <value> is an integer greater than 1 and less than 5. Values
of 3 or 4 will slow processing significantly.
The converter will multiply the resolution by the downscale factor. If
you specify resolution with -r, multiply the resolution by this value.
PCL6_TwoPass Now handled by ConversionControl.xml using the PCLToPDF
converter. Example: <ConversionFileQuality ConverterId="Word
Automation,PCL6ToPDF,GhostScript TIFF,G3 to TIFF"
ConversionQuality="0.9" SourceFileFormat="application/msword"
TargetFileFormat="image/g3" /> Example:
<NamedValue Name="StandardArguments" Value="-sDEVICE=tiffg3 -r800 -g6616x9360" />
Creates an A4 sized image converting at 800 dpi.
2.1.2 New Features Introduced in Service Release 2
2.1.2.1 Firefox-based HTML conversion
This release includes Firefox-based HTML conversion because Google Chrome, due to updates, can
no longer perform HTML conversions by running as a service. To use Firefox-based HTML
conversion:
1. Install the latest version of Firefox before installing this update.
2. After installing the update, stop the RightFax Conversion Engine (or start and then stop it if it
is not running). This will generate a new subfolder in <rightfaxpath>\Worksrv\Converters
named “FirefoxConverterProfile.”
3. Restart the RightFax Conversion Engine.
For best conversions, install two Firefox add-ons, Greasemonkey and UnMHT, into the
FirefoxConverterProfile subfolder.
1. From an Administrator command prompt, navigate to the folder where Firefox is installed.
2. Run firefox -profile "<rightfaxpath>\Worksrv\Converters\FirefoxConverterProfile"
where <rightfaxpath> is the path to your RightFax installation, usually
c:\Program Files (x86)\RightFax.
OpenText RightFax 10.6 Feature Pack 1, Service Release 3 Release Notes
5
3. In Firefox, click the Open menu button at the upper right-hand corner and then click Add-
ons.
4. Search for and install UnMHT.
5. Search for and install Greasemonkey.
6. Restart Firefox when prompted by Greasemonkey's installer.
7. Ensure that both add-on icons appear in the upper-right corner of Firefox (when using the
converter profile).
8. Close Firefox.
9. Restart the RightFax Conversion Engine in order to detect the add-ons.
Notes:
This functionality was tested with Firefox 35.0.1, UnMHT 7.3.0.5, and Greasemonkey 2.3.
Other add-ons may be compatible, but are untested.
Settings for the converter profile are stored in user.js. Do not edit this file. If user.js is missing
from the profile's folder, it will be replaced with the default settings when the Conversion
Engine starts. (Settings are not stored in the pref.js file because it can be deleted if a
conversion problem causes Firefox to crash when running as a service.)
2.1.3 New Features Introduced in Service Release 1
2.1.3.1 Updated Dialogic Brooktrout SDK
This update includes Dialogic Brooktrout SDK 6.7.1, with support for new low profile analog boards
and G.711 fallback.

3.2 Related Documentation
For additional information on OpenText RightFax, or for supplemental information on related products,
refer to the following documents, which are available in the OpenText Knowledge Center
(https://knowledge.opentext.com/).
3.3 Documentation Errata
Since RightFax 10.6 Feature Pack 1, the WebClientServer and WebLinkURL registry entries are no
longer required for configuring Web Delivery. They have been replaced by user interface elements.
For more information about Web Delivery, see the Administrator’s Guide. The
WebDeliveryURLOverride registry entry can be used to override the settings in the UI.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\RightFax\FaxServer
(64-bit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\RightFax\FaxServer)
The REG_SZ value takes the form of a URL, and can contain the following macros that are replaced
at runtime:
For Web Access (WebUtil):
{WebServer} - name of the IIS server hosting the web app
{RFServer} - name of the RightFax server
{handle} - handle of the fax
Example:
For Web Client:
{WebServer} - name of the IIS server hosting the web app
{RFServer} - name of the RightFax server
{handle} - handle of the fax
{UniqueID} - unique ID of the fax
Example:
http://{WebServer}/WebClient/fuwww.dll/?X=LNKFX&SERVER={RFServer}&HFAX={handle}&FAXUID
={UniqueID}
In both cases, https//: can be used if the site is secured with SSL.

4.1 Before You Begin Installing
Before you install this feature pack, please note the following important information.
This feature pack is intended to update OpenText RightFax 10.6 Feature Pack 1 and client
applications. If you have not installed OpenText RightFax 10.6 Feature Pack 1, download it
from the OpenText Knowledge Center and install it before applying this feature pack. (You can
also install OpenText RightFax 10.6 Feature Pack 1, Service Release 3 client applications by
using the included client installation program. For more information, see Installing New
RightFax 10.6 Feature Pack 1, Service Release 1 Client Applications.)
Apply this update to local RightFax servers before installing it on remote RightFax servers.
An update to this readme file may be available. Verify that you have obtained the most current
readme file from the OpenText Knowledge Center,
https://knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/llisapi.dll/open/15703289.
Caution
Before applying this update, all remote RightFax services must be shut
down. If they are not shut down, data loss can occur. Also, database
scripts could be run while a remote server is accessing the database,
causing a failure to upgrade the database.
Important

existing whitelist. The previous whitelist is backed up in the
RightFax\$Uninstall RightFax 10.6 FP1SR3\Bin folder.

the update. The package is available on the Microsoft web site at http://www.microsoft.com/en-
us/download/details.aspx?id=5555.
