    This schedule contains tuition fee information principally for international students who

    are studying at Otago for the rst time in 2010 or who are already enrolled at Otago but

    commencing a new programme of study in 2010.

    International students are dened as:

    2010 INTERNATIONAL TUITIONFEES

    Thisfeesscheduleprovidesanestimateofcostsfor2010.Thetuitionfeeslistedinthisschedulemaynotrepresenttheactualcostofaprogrammeofstudy.Generally,astudentstotaltuitionismadeupofthecollectivefeesforeachpaperforwhichthestudentisenrolled.Thesubjectcategoryfee(aslistedinthisschedule)andtheEFTS(fundingequation)valuewilldeterminethefeeofanypaper.Theactualprogrammefeewillbeaffectedby:

    theenrolmentformoreorlessthan1EFT(anormalfull-timecourse)

    theinclusionofpapersfromdifferentsubjectareas(whichareatdifferentfeerates)

    thesequencingofenrolmentinpaperswithinthecourse achangetothestructureofthecourseandtheavailability

    ofpapers

    Tuitionfeesareassessedeachyear.Thefeecategoriesareapplicableonlytothecalendaryear(January-December)inwhichthecourseiscommenced.Ifacourseofstudyextendsforoneormoresemestersinasubsequentcalendaryear(s),thestudentswillberequiredtopaythetuitionfeeapplicableforthatcalendaryear(s).Annualfeeincreases(ordecreases)areexpectedtobemodest.Undercurrentcircumstancesthiswouldbeintheorderofupto5%perannum.

    ThisscheduledoesnotincludethefeespayablebyPhDstudentsandstudentsenrolledintheDoctorofEducationandDoctorofClinicalDentistry.Thesestudents,undercertaincircumstances,areeligibletopaytuitionfeesattheNewZealanddomesticlevel.Pleaseseenote12attheendofthis

    1. FullFeesReFund

    Feesmayberefundedinfull,lessarefundfeewhereastudenthascompletedtheCourseApprovalprocess,underthefollowingconditions:

    b) astudentisunabletoobtainastudentvisaand permit

    c) astudentfailstomeettheconditionofanOffer ofPlace

    Exceptionalcircumstancesaredenedascircumstancesthatarebeyondthecontrolofthestudent,andincludeillnesssupportedbyaNewZealandmedicalcerticate.

    3. GeneRalReFundConditions

    a) AnyadditionalcostsincurredbytheUniversity forexternalclinicalplacementswillbededucted fromanyrefund.

    b) Norefundsaregivenforstudentswhodiscontinue studyaftertheofcialwithdrawaldates.

    c) Onceastudenthascourseapprovedtheyaredeemed tobeattendingtheirchosencourseofstudy.Failure toattendisnotgroundsfordeletionofenrolment aftertheduedateswithentitlementtoarefund.

    CHANGE OF RESIDENTIAL STATUS

    a) InternationalstudentswhoaregrantedNewZealandresidencywhileenrolledmaybeeligibletopaydomesticfeesforthecurrentandsubsequentyears(seebelow).Proofofchangeofresidentialstatuscanbedemonstratedonlybypresentinganoriginalpassportwithresidencypermitstamp.

    b) Tobeconsideredforarefundoftuitionfeestotheequivalentdomesticfeelevel,thedateofawardoftheresidencepermit(asprintedonthepermit)mustbepriorto:

    18January2010forSummersSchoolpapers 31March2010forrstsemesterandFullYearpapers 31July2010forsecondsemesterpapers

    Awardoftheresidencepermitafterthesedateswillmeanongoingchargingattheinternationaltuitionrateforthe

    durationofthepaper(s). InternationalstudentswithpendingNewZealand

    residencyareadvisedtoseekadvicefromtheUniversityabouttheirsituationpriortoenrolment.

    FEE PROTECTION POLICY

    TheUniversityisgovernedbythePublicFinanceAct,theEducationAct,andUniversityCouncilregulationsinregardtostudentfees.Anindividualfeeaccountismaintainedforeachenrolledstudent.IntheeventthattheUniversityisnotabletoofferanacademicprogrammeforthesemesterintakeindicated

    onthestudentsOfferofPlace,allfundswillberefundedtothestudent.FurtherinformationontheUniversitysrefundpolicyforinternationalstudentscanbefoundabove.
