From our pastor /mission director...

O U R L A D Y O F H O P E C H U R C H 2 R O S E M O N T , I L L I N O I S

As we approach the beginning of the month of July, we prepare for the new reality that comes with it. Through the Cardinal’s Decree we are to become a quasi-parish, a territorial mission dependent upon and associated with Mary, Seat of Wisdom Parish. Many of you, including myself wonder what it means, and what is going to be different. I wish I could give you all the answers. Unfortunately, I do not have them yet, and some of them will come as we move on with the transi on process. The transi on includes unpacking and understanding fully the ramifica ons of the Decree, especially the 9 detailed points that it includes. These 9 points serve us as a founda on of this new reality which we begin to build. Please con nue to keep Fr. Derek Ho, myself, and the en re RMC (Renew My Church) Team in your prayers as we take upon this great task and responsibility of guiding and leading our communi es in the new direc ons. Here are few things we know for sure as of July 1. 1. Fr. Derek Ho will be the pastor of Mary, Seat of Wisdom Parish and Our Lady of Hope Mission 2. Fr. Wojciech Oleksy con nues pastoral care of Our Lady of Hope Mission for the me being 3. Sunday and daily Masses, funerals, bap sms, weddings, and other liturgical celebra ons will con nue to be offered

at Our Lady of Hope Mission (Mass mes and other details to be determined at a later date) 4. Our parish staff con nues as is for the me being 5. Our religious educa on program con nues (details regarding the future of religious educa on program to be

determined at a later date) Happy Independence Day!!! As always, on July 4 we celebrate with immense joy our independence. For Colleen Ortega and myself this year’s Independence Day will be incredibly special because for the very first me we will celebrate as U.S. ci zens. May this day be for all an opportunity to give thanks to God for the gi of freedom and all that comes with it. Make sure to come to church to pray for our country and our na on! The month of July is dedicated to the Precious Blood of Jesus. It is in His Blood that we are washed from sin and death. His Blood redeemed us from eternal damna on and purchased for us eternal life. Make it your daily prac ce in this month to pray the Litany of the Most Precious Blood of Jesus. If you cannot find it in your prayer book simply Google it, print it out or use your electronic device, and add it to your daily prayer rou ne. Blood of Christ, most worthy of all glory and honor, save us! Our Lady of Hope, pray for us!

Fr. Wojciech Oleksy

Join us (June 22—29), as we continue to pray, reflect, and take action on religious liberty, both here

in this country and abroad. Religious Freedom Week ends June 29 All people desire to enjoy communion with God, and this desire gives rise to the search for religious truth and finds expression in the forma on of religious culture. Even people who claim no religious affilia on cannot help but need ritual, belonging, and truth. Why? Because we all long to know and love the One in whose image we are made. “For God formed man to be imperishable; the image of his own nature he made him.” The Church’s promo on of religious freedom expresses her solidarity with all people who seek the good and hope for fulfillment in the truth. As Pope Francis teaches: Hope speaks to us of a thirst, an aspira on, a longing for a life of fulfillment, a desire to achieve great things, things that fill our heart and li our spirit to lo y reali es like truth, goodness and beauty, jus ce and love ... Hope is bold; it can look beyond personal convenience, the pe y securi es and compensa ons which limit our horizon, and it can open us up to grand ideals that make life more beau ful and worthwhile (Fratelli tu , 55). Prayer & Worship Celebrate the Saints! The calendar of the Church is very deliberate in what we celebrate: there is a certain hierarchy of solemni es and feasts of the Church. Over the next year, we're going to begin to observe more of them, for they honor those whose lives point to God. They point us how to live our faith and they show us what God can accomplish through the fragile vessel of humanity. We'll publicize the upcoming feasts - watch the announcements and social media. Come to the liturgies when you're able. The Masses will be livestreamed, too, so if you can't be there in person, you can s ll celebrate this witness of Catholic faith. As our Renew My Church prayer says:

May we remain in the holy company of the Blessed Virgin Mary,

the apostles and all the saints. May their example and presence inspire us with pa ent confidence

in the work of your grace. Join us for the Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul on Tuesday, June 29 at 12:10 p.m.

Come pray with us the Divine Mercy

Chaplet at the conclusion of the 8:30 a.m. Mass every Friday.

We pray the Our Lady of

Perpetual Help Novena at the conclusion of the 8:30 a.m. Mass every Wednesday. There are offertory envelopes in the narthex for those who wish to have their personal inten ons to be prayed for during the Novena. The offertory envelope must be placed in the Novena Inten ons Box that is on the cart next to the Chapel. The Novena Inten ons will be discarded on a weekly basis. Please join us!

Parish Life Are you called? A very important ministry at Our Lady of Hope is a service to our homebound through the Ministry of Care. We presently have 5 ministers who have been trained by the Archdiocese to visit and bring Eucharist to our shut- ins. During the pandemic all changed and weekly visits were limited to phone calls and Spiritual Communions. Throughout all, our ministers remained faithful and those who had no one else appreciated the call to pray together. Kathy Wildtrout says that we are her family and Kathleen Leonard always remarks how our visits li her spirit, either in person or by phone. Of course, we all felt the confinement of being quaran ned and watching Mass on TV with no physical Eucharist, just like our homebound experience. Thank God, we can once again gather in church to worship together and receive Eucharist. We are fortunate to have the opportunity to come out of our homes each week. Yet, our homebound parishioners con nue to be confined with no way of coming to church. Now that restric ons are being lessened, once again, the Ministers of Care can bring Church to our shut-ins. We presently have 13 people whom we call on. Surely there are more in our community who are unable to get out of their homes, but in order to increase the number of those we visit we need more ministers. If you feel called to visit, pray with and bring the Eucharist to our homebound please let Fr. Wojciech know. This is a simple act of faith that allows us to share Christ with others.

INDEPENDENCE DAY MASSES SUNDAY, JULY 4TH 8:30 & 10:30 A.M.

Join us as we give thanks for God, for our country and our freedom.

(In observance of the holiday, the office will be closed on Monday, July 5th.)

Happy Fourth of July! God, source of all freedom, this day is bright with the memory of those who declared that life and liberty are your gift to every human being. Help us to continue a good work begun long ago. Make our vision clear and our will strong: that only in human solidarity will we find liberty, and justice only in the honor that belongs to every life on earth. Turn our hearts toward the family of nations: to understand the ways of others, to offer friendship, and to find safety only in the common good of all. We ask this through Christ our Lord. R/. Amen.

JESUS’ EXAMPLE OF HELPING OTHERS (June 27, 2021) In today’s second reading Paul offers a wonderful argument to his converts at Corinth for seeking to help those in need. He is dealing with a prac cal problem, arranging a collec on for the poor of the church of Jerusalem; but as he o en does, he develops an important teaching about Jesus to make his point. A er asking that they show their faith by generous gi s, he reminds them of the “gracious act of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, for your sake he became poor, so that by his poverty you might become rich” (2 Corinthians 8:9). In the Incarna on our Lord assumed our human nature, certainly becoming poor for one who is God. The ul mate gracious act of this poverty was going to the cross with all its terrible sufferings. By this act of poverty we definitely become rich. Now our sins can be forgiven; we can share in the very life of God through the sacraments; we can a ain eternal salva on! Copyright © J. S. We are Blessed to be able to con nue our program here at Our Lady of Hope Church which has been a spiritual home for you and your children for a long me. We look forward to your return.

TO THE PARENTS OF OUR YOUNG CHILDREN, MAY WE SUGGEST……….. ♦Relax! God put the wiggle in children! Don’t feel you have to suppress it

in God’s house. All are welcome! ♦Sit toward the front where it is easier for your li le ones to see and hear

what’s going on at the altar. They get red of seeing the backs of oth-ers’ head!

♦Quietly explain the parts of the service and ac ons of the pastor, liturgist, choir, etc. Sing the hymns, pray and voice the responses. Children learn liturgical behavior by copying you.

♦If you have to leave the service with your child, feel free to do so, but please come back. As Jesus said, “Let the children come to me.”

♦Remember that the way we welcome children in church directly affects the way they respond to the Church, to God and to one another. Let them know that they are at home in this house of worship.

************************************************

TO THE MEMBERS OF OUR CHURCH…………. The presence of children is a gi to the Church, and they are a reminder that our parish is growing. Please welcome our children and give a smile of encouragement to their parents! ************************************************ TO THE CHILDREN… Please feel free to do your artwork.

Confirma on Make Up Class There will be a special make up class during the summer for student who were unable to a end our Level 7 and 8 Religious Educa on Class in 2020-2021. Since prepara on for the Sacrament of Confirma on is a two year program it is important that you a end this class in order to be Confirmed. E-mail messages have been sent to those to whom this applies. Keep your eyes open for details of the program, me, loca on, etc.
