Hello Everyone,I have been talking about how

to enhance and take care of ourbrains, and how to take care ofsomeone who is experiencing anytype of dementia. This month Ijust want to give a review of wherethe actual science anddevelopment is now when itcomes to our brain research.

Then: Your brain cells are finite:you have only so many, and theycan’t be replaced when they die.

Now: Your brain makes newneurons in some areas.

Then: Your brain is hardwired, like a machine or a computer

Now: Your brain is changingevery second in response to theenvironment and your mind.

Then: Stroke damage is mostlyirreversible and can’t be improvedafter a few months.

Now: Stroke victims can regainfunction even years after thestroke with ongoing therapy.

Then: Parkinson’s disease andepilepsy are treated with drugs butcan’t be cured.

    Now: Brain implants can stop

    tremors of Parkinson’s disease andepilepsy.

    Then: Memory is accurate andunchanging

Now: Memory is changeable.Events are “recollected” in a newcontext and slightly changed.

Then: Alzheimer’s disease andloss of brain function are aninevitable part of aging.

Now: Active brain retains morefunction than inactive ones, evenin some very elderly people.

As you can see, there have beena lot of advancement and findingsthat will be beneficial inthe future.

But for now, I hope youcontinue to work in improvingand protecting your brain to lowerthe risk of developing dementia. As always, if you want to talkmore about this topic, feel free tosee me.
