Quality by DesignPAG uses only the highest quality components in theconstruction of its batteries. Safety, reliability, and durabilityare the prime concerns, from conception to final assembly.

Branded CellsPAG uses premium grade branded cells, which have beenextensively tested to ensure excellent cycle life and capacity.High-quality, branded Li-Ion cells are a vital prerequisite to thecreation of a safe Li-Ion battery. Poor quality cells may developinternal shorts, or their electrolyte may be contaminated,giving rise to further problems. Unfortunately, PAG hasdiscovered that this kind of low-quality cell is being used inbatteries that are branded as professional broadcast products.

The name PAG on a battery is an asurance thatonly high-quality cells and materials have beenused in its construction.

Protective CasesHigh-impact, injection-moulded polycarbonate, or mediumimpact ABS cases are used, which incorporate integral cradlesfor protection of the cell-pack, and non-slip external featuresfor secure handling.

RF ResistancePAG Li-Ion batteries have built-in RF resistance to preventshut-down in the field when used in close proximity to radiotransceivers.

United Nations TestingIt is a legal requirement of air transport andcivil aviation authorities that Li-Ion batteriesbe independently tested to comply withUnited Nations regulations, before they canbe certified ‘air safe’.

Regulations exist because poorly constructed Li-Ion batterieshave been known to break down internally and self-ignite.

PAG Li-Ion batteries are tested and certified tocomply with United Nations specifications.

Each unique Li-Ion battery assembly is issued with a test reportnumber. You should always ask the battery manufacturer for atest report number that relates to the cell-pack assembly, andnot just the individual cells.

Service SupportA PAG customer is able to call upon expert technical adviceand a full back-up service throughout a product’s lifetime. Thequality of service that PAG provides is one of the main reasonswhy broadcast organisations choose PAG (see Page 1).

RecellingInstead of recelling your battery, PAG offers UK customers asubstantial discount (25%) on the price of a new battery ofequivalent or greater specification, including a full warranty.

A cell replacement, by a company other than PAG, is a falseeconomy. It degrades the build standard of the product andleaves you with a battery of dubious quality, and a potentialsafety concern.

RecyclingPAG provides a recycling service for all of its expired batteries.Simply return your batteries by prior arrangement to your PAGAgent, or to PAG Ltd. London. This ensures that the materialsinvolved in their manufacture are recovered for future use,where possible, or disposed of in accordance with theappropriate legislation.

No Cell-ImbalanceThe low-resistance inter-cell nickel strapping and cell layout areconstructed to optimize current sharing, reducing one of thecommon causes of cell-imbalance, and prolonging battery life.

Electronic ProtectionPAG Li-Ion batteries have a higher safety standard than those ofother manufacturers. PAG’s electronic protection system guardsagainst: over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current, over-charge,over-discharge, over-temperature, under-temperature andinappropriate charge sources. Low-Cost Li-IonAlthough relatively low in cost,compared to the cameras theypower, high-quality Li-Ion batterysystems can appear expensivewhen compared to some of thecheaper options available. However,low-quality Li-Ion batteries can failwithin a year, and provide poorvalue for money. For this reasonPAG has introduced a highlyeconomic Li-Ion battery thatmaintains the high quality andsafety standards for which PAG isrenowned.

Power & Time CircleThe PAG L95e is ideal for those whorequire the benefits of a Li-Ionsystem but not the highly accuraterun-time information provided by thePAG Time Battery (see Page 5).

The L95e incorporates a new display,the PAG Power & Time Circle. Itdisplays charge status in terms ofpercentage, using 5 LEDs. Each LEDrepresents approximately 20% ofavailable capacity. When the batteryis on-load the display will alsoprovide an estimate of remaining run-time. It uses the 5 LEDs to indicatethe remaining hours and minutes.

CompatibilityPAG provides the new L95e Li-Ionbattery in PAGlok and V-Mountcompatible formats.

Capacity in the ViewfinderThe V-Mount L95e, when used topower certain Sony cameras, willprovide a percentage display ofavailable capacity in the cameraviewfinder.

Longer Cycle LifePAG has incorporated many levelsof protection within the L95e toensure that it is one of the safestLi-Ion batteries available. Thesefeatures help prevent the damagingprocesses that reduce capacity,and in combination with proprietarycharging techniques, ensure alonger battery cycle life. PAG is ableto offer an impressive warranty of 18months on the new L95e.

The PAG L95e incorporates qualitybranded cells, and an internal pro-tection circuit coated with Paryleneto protect against the results ofsevere abuse to the cell pack.

No Service ChargeThe new 5 LED display maintains itslevel of accuracy after repeatedpartial discharge cycles, and thebattery does not require a periodic'service charge' to re-establishaccuracy.

Self-RecoveryIf the battery has been shut down byits protection circuit it can berecovered by simply removing it

from the load and pressing thedisplay button, provided the batterystill retains some charge.

PAG Li-Ion Time Batteries.

One of the great advantages of PAG’s Li-Ion Time Battery is thePAG Power & Time Display. This built-in capacity indication andrun-time display was designed and developed by PAG at a timewhen a 4 or 5 LED ‘fuel-guage’ was the best available.

PAG’s revolutionary display provides a prediction of equipmentrun-time, on-load, that is continually updated and accurate to theminute. The battery’s internal processor achieves this taking intoaccount the changes of load that occur during use, the chargestatus and condition of the cells, and the ambient temperature.PAG’s display was the first to achieve this. No other capacityindication device displays equipment run-time this accurately.

The Power & Time Display uses an easy-to-read digital characterformat, and displays remaining run-time on-load, at the press of abutton; hours are displayed first, followed by minutes.

The next button press shows available capacity in Ah (0.1Ahincrements) and a further press shows capacity as a percentage(1% increments).

Capacity indication in ampere-hours and percentage can also bedisplayed when the battery has been removed from theload, providing an accurate charge status at all times. ...followed by percentage.

PAG ZL-Series flight-friendly batteries are welcome aboard.Air TransportationCertain airlines have refused to letLi-Ion ENG batteries on-boardaircraft in hand luggage, despitelegitimate air safety certification thatproves compliance with IATAregulations for lithium content andUnited Nations testing. For thisreason, PAG has introducedZL-Series Travel Packs, a range offlight-friendly batteries that containzero-lithium, and are alwayswelcome aboard.

A Choice of CapacitiesThe ZL-Series comprises batterypacks with capacities of approx-imately 150, 125 and 50 watt-hours.Models are available that arecompatible with either the V-Mountor PAGlok formats. In addition thereis also a 40 watt-hour NP1 pack.

Highest Capacity BatteryThe ZL-150 is PAG’s highestcapacity battery and is packaged inPAG’s popular slimline SuperPackformat, rather than the cumbersome‘brick’. Li-Ion batteries of thiscapacity are limited to two units inyour hand luggage, whereas theZL-150 has no such restriction.

In addition to the air transportationbenefits, the PAG ZL-150 is an idealsolution for those who requireextended run-time, and a highercurrent-draw capability.

Zero-Lithium Time BatteryPAG has incorporated its highlyaccurate Power & Time Display intothe 125 watt-hour ZL-125; it is idealfor those who require increasedcapacity and accurate run-timeinformation.

Smaller, Lighter PacksThe ZL-50 is a more compact battery.Its dimensions match those of the PAGL95. It has a capacity of approximately50 watt-hours. The PAG ZL-50 is ableto indicate the state-of-charge bymeans of a four LED display. If thebattery is more than 87% charged allfour LED’s will light, when the displaybutton is pressed. If the battery is lessthan 12% charged none of the LED’swill light.

PAG Ni-Cd Batteries.Nickel-Cadmium batteries, designed for professional broadcastapplications, are not affected by European Union legislation preventingthe sale of Ni-Cd batteries in the EU, which came into effect inSeptember 2008. The legislation includes exemption for Ni-Cd batteriesintended for industrial and military use. For this reason PAG continuesto sell its Ni-Cd battery range. PAG will aim to meet your demand for Ni-Cd batteries, where possible, until Ni-Cd cells are no longer available,or become uneconomic.

The process of developing alternative products for the Ni-Cd range hasalready begun with the introduction of the ZL-Series batteries and Ni-MHPagbelts. These batteries utilise the latest high-capacity, long-life Ni-MHcells, and are capable of providing the higher-currents that new, high-definition cameras require. The new Ni-MH cells are superior to thoseavailable when this technology was first introduced to the BroadcastIndustry. The combined weight of the PowerPlate and two L95s is 1.87kg, lessthan a single Ni-Cd SuperPack ofthe equivalent voltage. This weightis an ideal counterbalance for theweight of the lens.

The Power Plate incorporates acharge-status indicator that relatesto the voltage output of the batteriesconnected.

Paglight Kits are designed toprovide everything required for alighting source that can be usedeither on or off camera.

The Paglight incorporates a standardhalogen lamp holder and a choice of2 bi-pin halogen lamps (20W, 35W,50W, 75W or 100W).
