Grace and Peace be multiplied to you!

Holy Week begins the ceremonial journey down the Via Dolorosa (Latin for “Way of Grief”), a

street in the old city of Jerusalem. Traditionally, it is hailed to be the path that Jesus walked on

the way to His crucifixion, It is marked by nine of the fourteen Stations of the Cross. The last five

stations are inside the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.

Our preparation from our Daniel Fast and observance of Lent through fasting, forgiving and

praying prepares us to “re-live” the passion, pain and purpose of Jesus coming to the earth to

complete the mission of reconciliation.

This week our local assembly will intentionally observe the sacraments of the Church of God in

Christ: Holy Communion, Water Baptism and Feet Washing. We have prepared our candidates

for Baptism and will engage in personal and family ministry through acts of service on Maundy

Thursday. On Good Friday our congregation will dramatically review The Seven Last Sayings of

Christ as He died for us on Calvary’s tree. On that evening, we will extend our evangelism

initiative by inviting non-members to a showing of The Passion of the Christ. During this week’s

activities, we will also distribute Holy Anointing Oil prepared according to Exodus 37:23-26.

Greater Community Church endeavors to provide a ministry atmosphere where “every man,

woman, boy and girl will have repeated opportunities to hear, see and feel the Gospel of Jesus

Christ.” Our mission remains to bring people to Jesus and membership in His family; develop

them to Christ-like maturity and equip them for their ministry and life mission in the world in

order to magnify His name.

We invite you and your family to share with us in this most solemn week of Christendom. We

will celebrate Resurrection Sunday with special music, didactic word and family fellowship. Our

church will conclude our Super Seed Spring Campaign and celebrate our collective efforts to

expand our ministry footprint in the city of Marietta.

Join us as we continue to advance our ministry and celebrate another dimension of God’s grace

and favor as we “Bring Kingdom to Community.”

Stay in His face and journey well,

Senior Servant

WE BELIEVE the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible written Word of God.

WE BELIEVE that there is only One God, eternally existent in three persons: God the

Father, God the Son and, God the Holy Spirit.

WE BELIEVE in the blessed Hope, which is the rapture of the Church of God, which is

in Christ, at His return.

WE BELIEVE that the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance

and faith in the precious Blood of Jesus Christ.

WE BELIEVE that regeneration by the Holy Ghost is absolutely essential for personal

salvation.

WE BELIEVE that the redemptive work of Christ on the Cross provides healing for

the human body in answer to believing prayer.

WE BELIEVE that the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4, is given to

believers who ask for Him.

WE BELIEVE in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the

Christian is enabled to live a holy and separated life in the present world.

GUEST HOMILIST

PASTOR OF

NEW VINEYARD CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST

MABLETON, GEORGIA

Elder Lander Collins, Jr., is the Pastor of New Vineyard Church Of God In Christ, located in the heart

of Mableton Georgia. He is married to the love of his life, Missionary Mellinee Collins, and together they

have shared over 40 years of holy matrimony.

As an ordained Elder of the Church Of God In Christ for over 30 years, Elder Collins has been gifted

to serve in many ministerial capacities under some of the great spiritual giants of our church.

Elder Collins received his ordination under the jurisdictional leadership of the late Bishop J. A. Blake

of Southern California Jurisdiction #1, and served locally at Liberty COGIC under the pastoral leadership of

Bishop Harvey Tyler (Bishop of India) and under the pastoral leadership of Superintendent James Lewis,

Sr., at New Antioch Church Of God In Christ in Los Angeles, California. After ten years, he was lead to

relocate his family to Central Georgia under the Jurisdictional and Pastoral leadership of the late Bishop J.

D. Husband, where he faithfully supported the ministry of the Hinsley Chapel COGIC until the demise of

Bishop Husband.

During the early 90’s, Bishop C. D. Owens (First Administrative Assistant to the late Presiding Bishop

L. H. Ford) assumed the leadership of the Hinsley Chapel COGIC and currently the Greater Community

Church Of God In Christ. Elder and Missionary Collins remained faithful to the ministry of the late Bishop

C. D. Owens and served during his entire tenure in various capacities. Elder Collins was blessed to enjoy

the fruitful rewards of sitting under the dynamic preaching and teaching of the late Bishop C.D. Owens.

For approximately seven years, Bishop Owens afforded Elder Collins the distinguished honor of

serving as the mid-week Bible Study Teacher of the “Institute Hour,” a weekly service delegated to

teaching the “whole-counsel” of God’s word. Elder Collins was also blessed to assist in facilitating the

Eucharist services to the sick and shut-in members and non-members. Elder Collins is known for his passion

to share the Word of God wherever the opportunity presents itself; especially in street-ministry to the less

fortunate and lost souls.

Until the birth of New Vineyard Church Of God In Christ on September 4, 2011, Elder Collins and

his wife remained active members of the Greater Community COGIC in Marietta Georgia under the

leadership of Elder Matthew Brown, Pastor-Teacher, a tremendous man of God in his own right.

With a great sense of achievement in 2013, Pastor Lander Collins earned his Master’s Degree in

Theology under the auspices of Charles H. Mason Seminary at ITC Seminary in Atlanta Georgia.

Pastor Collins is a man who seeks to please God first, to love his family and to serve God’s people.

It is his hearts’ desire to always redeem the time and to walk humbly before God.

Serving at God’s pleasure to bring Jesus Christ to the world.

MINISTER TO CANDIDATES:

“Do you believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and

earth, and Jesus Christ, His Son, who died on the cross for our sins?”

CANDIDATES: “I do.”

MINISTER TO CANDIDATES:

“Will you obey God’s will and His Holy Commandments?”

CANDIDATES: “I will.”

Good Friday

Our solemn observation of the greatest moment in Christian history demands we pause

and look retrospectively on the emblem of suffering and shame. Our gospel should

remain rich with emphasis on the cross and the blood. Without it, we run the risk of

preaching a cross- less, bloodless, gospel that reduces the grace of reconciliation.

The gruesome truth is that Jesus suffered for our salvation; that suffering during this season

some two-thousand years ago was with pain-staking accuracy in order that all scripture

would be fulfilled. All the roads of the past erode on the cross and all the roads of the

future restore hope; giving life and possibility of unmerited love towards unbelievers.

Good Friday provides opportunity to reflect on forgiveness, rescue and completion of

God’s plan for reconciliation. Our redemption and reunification of fellowship with the

Father is the purpose of the cross. Today, we have the opportunity to forgive others who

have hurt us, bury grudges and resurrect the possibility of relationship and reconciliation.

Our gathering today is an intentional worship that brings like-minded believers together

for the sole purpose of recreating, reinventing and resurrecting the memory of the sacrifice

and thus reliving it with profound appreciation and celebration. The world will make

light of the expressed demonstration of a sovereign God who loves unconditionally as

though they have an inherent right to eternity with Him. We have no such right. We’ve

been graced to salvation due to the fact that no work of man could ever justify the

benefit of heaven.

May this resurrection season be just that for all of us who gather in His name; may we be

so resurrected in forgiveness, faith, patience, doctrine and fellowship. The cross is a bridge

and a gateway. A bridge that reconnects man to God and a gateway that leads to

fulfillment in life, vision, hope and aspiration…may the glory of God be resurrected in

you today by the shed blood of His son and the ultimate expression of His worship…the

giving of His life that we may live forever.

Happy Resurrection Day!

Grace and peace be multiplied to you as we celebrate the cornerstone of

Christendom; the Resurrection of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. In a day

when seemingly churches are moving far away from the bedrock principles of

faith, community and doctrine; we unapologetically affirm our faith in the risen

Christ.

Easter is a celebration of the newness of life accomplished through the bitter

tragedy of betrayal, denial and physical suffering through spiritual agony. May

you benefit from the blessings of the sacrifice of God for the purpose of eternal

life with Him. You will experience the blessedness of the resurrection through

the power of the cross as you apply childlike faith to believe that Christ died for

your sins.

We welcome you to our church but invite you to share in our ministry. The

various ministries demonstrated here is designed to “bring people to Jesus and

membership in His family.” Our approach to God is simple; we believe that He

is sovereign and deserving of our very best in the world. His death for us

created the exchange of our miserable life for His abundant life. God calls us to

a place of agreement with Him and ask us to share in a great life. Will you

today make a decision to live a resurrected life? It’s simple, just acknowledge

that you are far from Him, confess your shortcomings and believe that His

death, burial and resurrection was full payment for your sins; forsake your

wrongdoing and you will be saved.

Enjoy the many families that make up our community of faith. We are white,

black, brown and every shade and hue in between. We are committed to the

values of salvation, the expression of sanctification and demonstration of

incomprehensive support, unfeigned love and inexhaustible fellowship.

May your family and friends find our house a place for the glory of

God and the fellowship of the saints. If I or any member can be of

assistance in further welcoming you, please do not hesitate to let us

know. “Mi casa es tu casa”
