Yes, we are all as sweet as apple cider! Wouldn’t you

like to bring one of us home? My name is Rum and I’m the grey Tabby

pictured on the far left. My brother, Captain, is beside

me. He has a gorgeous coat of silken black and

grey fur. Below us is our other brother, Morgan.

He’s a Siamese mix with blue eyes. We were found

on Oak Island when we were just 3-weeks-old.

We are now 13-weeks-old, neutered, current on

vaccinations and we each have a microchip. I love to

be with people and give kisses. Captain is the

most outgoing and adventurous, curious about

everything but very quiet. Morgan is loving and sweet and enjoys cuddling with us brothers. We know it’s difficult to choose amongst us,

but you can’t go wrong with whoever you pick! Call Furever Friends Animal Rescue at

910-383-2100 for adoption information. Now we’d like to thank photographer Dick Parrott for taking our Fall portraits. It was hard to keep our

balance on apples, but we managed to do it!

My name is Charlie and I am a 12-year-old Westie mix but I

act like I am 5. Other than being on a

special diet, I am healthy as a horse. I bonded very quickly with my foster mom

and I will do that with you, too. I love going

for walks, car rides and just hanging out. I am no trouble at all.

If you are looking for a mature, sweet, loveable dog - I am the one. Please call R.A.C.E. at 910-547-2839 or visit us on

the web at raceshelter.org.

Sponsored in loving memory of Roxy.

CUTE PUPPY ALERT!! Hi! The

‘cute puppy alert’ in caps was my idea. I am pretty cute,

don’t ya think? I am Sookie and I am a 10-month-old Pit

Bull girl who needs a new home. You see, I LOVE my

family and I even live with a toddler

who I am wonderful with but the reason I

am coming into rescue is because

my family just can’t spend that much time with me. I know they are just trying to do what’s best for me. I am a good

dog and I deserve the best possible home. I am just a baby and I can adjust to any family. I am very submissive and I like other doggies. You know what my fave thing to do is? Catch bubbles! I jump for joy and it’s a fun game to play.

Call my rescue about me at 910-538-0106. You can come meet me and don't forget the bubbles! See you soon!

I am sponsored by the loyal supporters of

Pender Perfect Pets. Thank you!

“Playing with bubbles...wheee!”

Hello! My name is Seaweed. I’m a 2

to 3-year-old female Beagle mix. I am an

extremely happy dog, not quite as serious as this

photo looks. I am small but I believe that I am six feet tall. I am a very

emotional dog, and all I want is to be

loved. I know many tricks, but my best is

that I am a pro at cuddling. Belly up and on your lap is the place for me. So I can’t wait to meet you. Come

and get me!!! For more information, email [email protected], call 910-297-1338 or visit

our website at www.montyshome.org. Written for Seaweed by her inmate trainer Cameron F.

I am sponsored by Connie at Dog Speak, who just

loves to help us shelter dogs get a new start.

Hi, it’s me, Dory. I’m a 2-year-old

Pit Bull mix. I have been waiting for my

furever home for soooo long now. It’s

been almost four months since I came

into rescue with Pender Perfect Pets

and I don't under-stand why it hasn't been my turn to be adopted! I am such a good girl. I go to the dog park often

and make many dog friends. I am crate-trained and house-

trained. I am a peo-ple-pleaser and will do whatever I can to

make you happy with me. I would be wonderful as a beach dog or running partner. Please, will you call my

rescue today? Come meet me and I assure you that you will LOVE me. Then I can be your furever fur kid and you can be my dream come true! Please call 910-538-0106.

See you soon!!

I am sponsored by the loyal supporters of Pender Perfect Pets with high hopes that it will

finally be my turn to be adopted!

URGENT, URGENT!

My Time Is Running Out!

I hope my sad eyes are melting your

heart! My name is Sandy (A008621)

and I’m a 3-year-old Lab/Boxer mix girl. My owners were

crying when they left me here, which

should tell you what a special girl I am.

They were moving to a place that didn’t allow pets, so I am

homeless through no fault of my own. It’s a real shame, because I’m a phenomenal house pet/family companion. I am already house-trained and leash-trained and I listen to commands. In my photo, I am shown demonstrating the

‘sit’ command. I take treats ever so gently from your fingers and am a loving, affectionate sweetheart of a girl.

My adoption fee includes all of the following: vaccinations, deworming, 30 day flea/tick treatment and spay surgery.

That’s a sweet deal! Please hurry over and adopt me so I can get back to being the best friend and companion I was

always meant to be. For adoption information or directions, call Pender County Animal Shelter at

910-259-1484 or email [email protected].

I am sponsored in honor of Kathleen M. Langone.

Hello up there! I’m Andy, a 1½-year-old boy

who is pos-sibly a mix

of Feist and Chihuahua. My weight is about 25 pounds and I have the cutest un-derbite. I was res-

cued from the shelter when my time was up. Unfortunately, due to

lack of prior medical care, including vaccines, I contracted a contagious respiratory infection and had a rocky road back to recovery. I seem to do well with docile female dogs and I love my people. During my hospital stay, I

became very attached to the staff and enjoyed spending time in their laps, resting my head on their shoulder. My nickname should be Scrappy because that does describe

me. I would do well in an adult household and I am house-trained, crate-trained, neutered, up to date on vac-cinations and heartworm negative. I will make a wonder-ful companion to a committed household! For info, email Sunburst Foundation at [email protected]

or call 910-622-0011.

I am sponsored in loving memory of Hank Harrington.

I’m a true story of amazing resilience and a testament to the abil-

ity to love and trust again. My name is Schultz, and I’m an

adult mini-Schnauzer weighing in around 22-25 pounds. I was res-cued from a horrible cruelty case where I was found in a crate with my deceased

Scottish Terrier friend. When I was being re-

moved from the cage of the back-yard breeder, I tried to remain true to my dead

friend and wanted to protect his lifeless body. No one can imagine the flash backs I must have from being crated for so long, but yet I still remain loving and sweet! I obviously prefer not to be crated and I am using the doggy door at

my current home. I would make a wonderful companion for a retired person or someone who is home the majority of the time. I am great with other animals and tend to fit in very well in almost any situation. I am the perfect laid-

back, loyal, understanding canine who will agree with eve-rything you say, keep all your secrets and believe that you are the most important person in the world! If this sounds like the description of the perfect friend you are looking for,

please visit www.schnauzerrescueofthecarolinas.org. There you can fill out an application or view other pets up for adoption. If you need an application mailed or faxed,

please call 781-799-4272.

FOSTER HOME

NEEDED!

My name is Baby Bear and I’m ap-proximately 1-year-old

and I weigh 27 to 30 pounds.

Southport Oak Island

Animal Res-cue (SOAR)

is looking for a foster

home for me. I’m a

precious but extremely scared Shepherd mix. Although I love and trust other animals, I am petrified of people. It will take a special person to foster and work with me. I

need someone with lots of patience and I need to be fos-tered with another dog or dogs. SOAR will provide you with all the information that they have on me. They will

also provide a consultation with their trainer. Please call SOAR at 910-457-6340 for more information!

I am sponsored by SOAR in loving memory of all

their wonderful, furry friends who made it safely to the Rainbow Bridge.

Hi, my name is Scully. I am a 3-year-old, mini Pit Bull girl. I was found on the side of the road al-most dead from starva-tion, my ears were cut off and I looked like I

had many, many litters of puppies. I was

brought to Pender Shel-ter where I was trans-

ferred to a vet for emer-gency care. I was on IV

fluids for over a week and no one was sure I

would even make it. Here I am today though, at a healthy 40 pounds. I have a few deformities, like out-turned legs, from lack of food for most of my life but hey, it doesn't stop

me from going for walks or doing normal dog things. I, however, have been so neglected my whole life that I do have a fear of other animals. I need to be the ONLY pet (no other dogs or kitties) and I need someone who will

understand that I need some training for my fear. Pender Perfect Pets will provide the training so that I can be the

best dog I can be. I will tell you, though, that I LOVE PEO-PLE. I am a people-pleaser and I will be the most loyal

dog. Please call my rescue about me at 910-538-0106. I can’t wait to meet you.

I am sponsored by the loyal supporters of Pender

Perfect Pets in honor of National Pit Bull Awareness Day which was October 26, 2013. Please consider

adopting this wonderful and loyal breed today!

Adopt-An-ANGEL

November 2013 www.facebook.com/PawPrintsMagazine 9

◄My name is Mongo and I am an exuberant, active girl. I am full of life and

lots of love that needs to be channeled. I am a Yel-low Lab mix with one blue

eye. I grew of age in a shelter which is always a

setback, but I respond really well to leadership and consistency, so this

can be overcome in time. I do well with other dogs but

not cats. I am crate-trained, but need a fenced yard with someone who can meet my exercise and mental needs. I am a mid-sized girl who weighs around 40 to 45 pounds.

You have to meet me to see how beautiful I really am.

◄My name is Red and I am a sweet, adorable

girl. I am well-balanced and have low to moder-

ate energy. I am an EASY girl. I am a 3-year-old Retriever mix who is great with cats, dogs and kids. I am crate-trained,

I know how to sit on command, I walk on a

loose leash and I would love a home and family to love. I did test posi-tive for heartworms and am beginning my treat-

ment soon. There will be no additional cost to my adopter, but it will cost my rescue organization

an additional $250. So if you can donate anything, it would be wonderful! Please mail checks to Adopt-An-ANGEL, P.O. Box 15095, Wilmington, NC 28408 or you can even

donate online at www.adoptanangel.net.

◄My name is Johnnie and I am a Walker Hound mix with probably some Basset Hound given my really long droopy ears and slightly bowed out

feet. I am a real sweetheart, very friendly and playful. I am neutered, heartworm negative

and have all of my shots. I weigh around 50 to 60 pounds. I am a goofy boy with a really unique woof (like to bay). In this picture, I have flipped my

ear back like a girl who flips her hair back over to the side! How

cute is that? I am gentle and do not have a mean bone in my body. I am just a typical hound

dog who is great with dogs, kids and cats - and I will remind you of Droopydog. I would

do best in a home with another dog to play with and a fenced-in back yard to run, romp and play in.

◄I’m a lovebug who will make you so very happy! Riley is my name and I’ll lay my head in your lap so sweetly it will melt your heart. I’m a 1-year-old boy who was found as a stray. Someone once taught me how to sit on command, though, and I’m already neu-tered. I love toys and will carry them around in my mouth. I’m very affectionate and want nothing more than to be your boy. Let’s go!

►My name is Sparky and I am a little spark plug! I am a 6 to 10-

month-old Chihuahua mixed puppy. My owners gave me up

because they could no longer afford to have a dog. I am fun,

energetic and very loving, too. I love to be held but I am super

playful, too. I do well with cats, kids and dogs - if they don't mind me annoying them a little. After

all, I think the world revolves around ME! I weigh about 8

pounds and I’ve already been fixed and vaccinated.

►Hi there, friends! My name is Tanya and I’m

an 11-month-old female Boxer mix who has been waiting for a family since

August! How can that be? I’m a wonderful girl

and I’m ready to join a loving, furever family. I

will be the best friend you could ever imagine -

I listen, I love and I'll probably make you laugh with my sweet, silly side!

Do yourself a big favor and hurry up and come

adopt me. I’ll be waiting to welcome you!

Page 10: PawPrints Magazine November 2013

Hi there! My name is

Hambone and you’ve heard my story a

million times. I was dumped

out in the coun-try and some-one found me wandering the

roads all by myself. Lucky for me, I didn’t have to go to a shelter! I was able to go to a very nice foster

home that is looking for the perfect home

for me. People tell me that I am a very sweet boy, about 1-year-old and

very much still a playful puppy! I love to play with my doggy foster brothers, so I would love to have another

doggy sibling or I’d be fine being an only child. I am neu-tered, heartworm negative and current on my vaccinations.

I am also house-trained and I don’t mind cats – what a plus! Please call my foster mom, Jeanna, at 910-524-4925 to learn how to meet me. I just know you’ll fall in

love with me and want to take me home!

My name is Clifford and I know I am not a Poodle, but the Poodles saved me. Besides, I'm a Border Collie mix so I

am smarter than they are anyway. I was just a year old the end of April. I am a very friendly boy and love to play fetch

with a tennis ball. I'm also learning to play catch with a Frisbee. I would like to find a forever home with another dog and/or person for me to play with to teach me lots of new tricks. I am a very busy boy! While I live indoors, I

would like to have a fenced area that I can run and play in. I am crate-trained, house-trained and walk very well on a leash. I have a very interesting history and story to tell.

If you go to the Carolina Poodle Rescue website at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org, look at my profile under the

available dogs and you can read all about me and see a video! I am truly a movie star! So go to our website or call

864-489-3559 for more information! Thanks.

I am sponsored by Cindy Meyers in loving memory of Harley and Murphy.

VOLUNTEERS and FOSTER HOMES NEEDED!!!

Call 910-792-9014 for more information. ◄Come a little closer and I'll drop this ball and give you

kisses, because I love everyone.

Great things happen when

people are around so I

loooove people! My name is

Jengo and I’m 8-months-old.

I'm not the kind of guy that will shy away when you have company over, no way! I'm going to show them some of the same love and affection that I show my perfect human mom and/or

dad. Now if you would just come and get me from Petsmart we can get moving on the social gatherings!

◄Sprout is kind of a silly name for an awesome cat like me, but perhaps my amazing foster mom chose it because I was a little timid when I first came to live with her. After I got comfortable in my new digs and my foster mom showed me how loving people can be, I came out of my shell and blossomed into a very playful and loving boy. Hey, I guess Sprout works after all! Please adopt me!

◄Did you know that black cats are the

greatest ever? Did you also know that statistically we are the least adopted

of cats? Well, I am Cooper, a 7-month-old boy, and not only am I incredibly hand-some and strapping, I also have a fantas-tic personality and

love to curl up in a cozy lap. Come visit me at the CAT adoption center at Petsmart in Wilmington and let me

show you I'll be the best cat ever for you.

◄I'm Francis, a unique and loving 4-month-old boy who enjoys being held and petted. I get along very well with other cats and dogs because I am a very refined little gentleman. I love sleeping quietly in bed with my people, too. But I'm sure you want to know what makes me so unique, yes? Well, I was born without a tail. That's right, no tail to knock over your wine glass and no tail to flick on your head while I'm lounging on the back of the couch and you are watching TV. Send an email to [email protected] to meet me. You won't regret it, because I’ll be your best buddy!

◄I'm Skeeter, a 2-year-old girl, and I'm constantly

hearing how beautiful I am. The problem is, my head is getting a little too big for my

cage here at Petsmart. I may look like a "wild cat" but in reality I'm just a sweet girl

looking for some sweet digs so I can be my loveable, cud-dly self with you, your other

cats and maybe your dog too! See, I'm not so wild after all.

Just like the other cats on this page, I’m fixed, vaccinated

and litterbox-trained. Take me home and I'll tame YOU!

◄Yeah, I'm that kind of girl, but you know that girls like me have special gifts to make their owners feel

special and I am no excep-tion - I am Mystique and I like to have a solo spotlight (no other animals) unless you have room for me to have my own personal

space. Perhaps your bed-room, hmmmm...lets get to

cuddling! Oh yes, a few more things, I’m 1-year-

old, spayed, vaccinated. Now let’s get back to cuddling.

very good with kids and love to be out-side with my Care-givers. I'm still a little nervous with new people, but once I know you

love me -- look out!!! If you are interested in adopting me, please see the application and the required specifications

before applying at carewilmington.org. If you have any questions, please call 910-256-2624.

I am sponsored by Atlantic Animal Hospital who

Cat Tails

◄I’m named after one of the founders

of Rome, Remus and as such, I am a dark,

classic Tabby with

white. I look like I am

wearing one of those Ro-

man hel-mets! I am very friendly

as any good ruler should be and am especially fond of kids and other animals. I am only 8-months-old and look forward

to a long and fruitful life with my new family.

►I’d like to be like my namesake Amelia

Earhart and fly right into your home. And like Amelia’s short hair, I

have a short tail. They tell me I’m a Manx mix. I

am a 19-month-old fe-male, brown Tabby mix. I don’t mind one or two other kitties, but more

than that and someone is going to get a good ‘ole

fashioned cat whooping. I have already been

spayed and I’m current on vaccinations, too.

◄They call me Froggie but who the heck knows why! I don’t sound like a frog, I don’t jump like a frog and I

most certainly don’t look like a frog! I am a 7-month-old, long-haired,

light gray and white female

kitty who gets along with other cats. My one flaw is that I like to suck on your fingers or toes, so if an occasionally wet finger is not to your liking, you best look at someone else.

◄Marco, Polo, Marco,

Polo. If you’re looking

for me, I might be

hiding. You see, I am a very timid

4-month-old, long-haired,

light gray kitty. I love people but it takes a little bit of time for

me to feel safe and secure. Give me that chance and you will reap the benefits: a beautiful, loving cat.

◄ Where’s Waldo? Well, I’m right here looking

for a home. I am a 2-year-old, long-haired, orange

Tabby. Right now I am a little embar-rassed because I had to be shaved. You see, my previ-ous owner never

brushed my beau-tiful luscious hair and it was pretty

matted. But it’s growing back out and I am on my way to being beautiful!

►How un-usual am I?

I’m an all black kitty with

two white whiskers. I keep asking

them to use a sharpie and color them,

but those hu-mans refuse to do it. For now they call me Dusty but I’m open to a name change. I am an 8-month-old male kitty and I’m on my way to being the size of an offensive guard. For those of you who don’t play football - a really big boy! So if you want a big pile of sweet lovin’ - I suggest you look really

hard at me!

Page 16: PawPrints Magazine November 2013

I’m John Boy - don’t you just want to hug me when you see this picture? I was found on Oak Island by a volun-teer by the name of John. That’s how I got my name.

Once here I was taken to the vet for a check up and got all of my shots and they discovered I am heartworm posi-

tive. My treatment will be started soon, so you won’t have to worry about that. Here are my other stats – I’m a Hound mix, neutered, approximately 65 pounds and was probably born in early 2011. The people here think that I am a smart, gentle soul – wise beyond my years! I know

how to open the gate, so even if you have a fenced-in yard, I probably shouldn’t be left unattended. I love peo-

ple and dogs. What do you say – will you give me a chance? My address is Paw’s Place. Come and see

me. If you have questions, call 910-845-7297.

I am sponsored by State Farm Rob Cutting Agency in memory of Molly.

Millie is my name and they say I’m a special needs pup. I

really don’t know

why. My rear foot is deformed,

but it doesn’t stop me

from play-ing and

run-ning. Con-crete and

stones can be a little hard on my paw once in a while. I have a little hearing problem too, but nothing stops me from being a

loving pooch! We think I’m a Bulldog/Boxer mix, just 1½-years-old. I’m spayed, vaccinated and 35 pounds. I love

being around people and other dogs that like to play. I am walking nicely on a leash and learning different com-

mands. I know that my “special someone” is out there. Hopefully, it’s you! If you’d like to meet me, simply drop

by Paw’s Place any day from 9 – Noon. You can also call the shelter at 910-845-7297.

I am sponsored by Grace Harrington. Thank you!

►My name is Precious (A293417) and I was dumped at a local veterinary hospital. My family left a note saying

that I am a loving, indoor-only, couch potato who needs a new home because someone in my family was allergic to me. I’m a super cute 2-year-old, gray

and cream Tortie girl. I’m very friendly, spayed, vaccinated, and ready for love. I enjoy exploring my surroundings,

watching TV and making bis-cuits. If you adopt me, I won’t ask for much in return...just food and shelter and to never be

viewed as disposable again!

◄Only loving families and toy filled homes need ap-

ply! My name is Kyla (A293751) and I’m a toy-loving bundle of joy. I’m just 11-months-old and I know how to sit and lay

down on command. I will also walk nicely on a loose leash. I was surrendered by my owners because

they were moving and go-ing through a separation. I am house-trained, spayed, vaccinated, and good with kids and other animals. If you are looking for an ad-venturesome, sweetheart of a Lab mix who is ready

to be by your side, I hope you’ll adopt me! ►Animal Control picked me and a group of my friends up as we were straying on Mid-dle Sound Loop Road. Now I am safely here

at the shelter searching for a forever family.

I’m a 2-year-old, Redbone Hound mix named Tori

(A294402). I’m happy and crave love and I will most definitely

make you feel loved, too. While I have the

energy of a young dog, I have the wise and caring soul of a senior. Life is too short to be alone and

unloved so let’s hook up! Call the shelter today...or better yet, drive on out here and so we can meet in person.

◄Hi! We’re Jack and Jill (A293004 &

A293036) and we’re just 2-months-old.

We might look related but

we’re not. In fact, we met here at the

shelter. Jack was a stray kitten born under someone's house. Jill was taking a nap in the engine of a car and ended up taking a

wild and crazy ride from Holly Ridge all the way into Wilming-ton. We’ve become great friends and playmates here at the shelter while we share a cage. You can adopt us together or

separately. We’re both fixed and current on shots.

►My name is Jonathan (A295584) and I’m homeless through no fault of my own.

The human child in my home was allergic to me so I was surrendered to the shelter

with hopes of having a second chance with a new family. I’m

5-years-old, I enjoy being rubbed, I like being near you and I really like kitty treats! I’ve already been neutered, I’m current on vaccinations,

I’m litter-trained, I’m good with children and dogs and I lived as an inside-only cat. Please give me the chance to make you feel loved! Sandpaper kiss provided at no extra cost.

◄I’m Ellie Mae (A294748) and I’m a 2-year-old Blue Tick Hound mix with a heart of gold. I was found as a stray be-hind the Harris Teeter on Oleander Drive. I know how to sit on command, I take treats gently, I like going for walks on a leash and I love being near you and sitting by your feet. A sweet girl like me shouldn’t be without a family!

▲I’m a 6-month-old kitten who recently arrived at the shelter, so I’m getting used to things. I love this kitty condo - it’s full of

cool toys and makes me feel safe. I’m a little boy who was found as a stray. I’m neutered, vaccinated, litterbox-trained and I get along with other cats. I am friendly and sweet and I’d love to meet you! Take some time out to come on over.

▲The person who adopts one (or both) of us will be very lucky! We are two very friendly brothers with social, well-adjusted personalities. We like everyone, simple as that, and enjoy being held and kissed. We’re still kittens at 6-

months-old. A lifetime of love is yours when you adopt us!

►I’m a stunning girl with long, silky

black and white fur. I’m a joy to

touch and caress! I’m also a joy to be around due to my loving nature and

friendly demeanor. My name is Missy and I’m a 2-year-old adult female

with pretty green eyes. I was found as a stray by some nice folks who kept me until space was available at the shelter.

I’m a very good girl who is vaccinated, spayed and litterbox-trained. Come on over and meet me, I’m waiting!

◄Hello! My name is Rocco and I’m a little boy, just 2-years-old. I once had a home but the other cat didn’t take a liking to me. It’s odd, because I get along great with other felines! In my photo, I’m relaxing in my kitty condo. Since I’m used to living indoors, I’ll be happy to do this at your house! I’m a very friendly and loving lap cat who is ready to make you feel adored. All you have to do is adopt me!

◄I’m a great girl who is ready to move right on in with my new family! After all, I’m house-trained, I’m great with children, I’m friendly to other dogs and I know commands such as ‘sit’. My name is Molly and I was once part of a family, but they lived in a place where dogs weren’t al-lowed. So this is your lucky day! Your new best friend is here! I’m such a loving, happy lady. Come get me!

►Looking for a sweet and friendly companion who is easy on the eyes? Well, I fit the bill! I’m a precious

6-month-old kitten who was recently found as a

stray. I haven’t yet been named so that you can do

the honors when you adopt me! I’m already

neutered, vaccinated and litterbox-trained. I get

along great with other cats and haven’t met a human I didn’t like. Come meet me

and see if we’re a match!

Hello everyone! I'm Rizzo, a 5-year-old

male kitty who is about as laid-back as they come! I have all the right ingredients to be the perfect side-kick because I’m relaxed, friendly and affectionate! I’m quite hand-

some, too, with my soft, medium-

length grey and white coat. So if you’ve been hop-ing to cuddle up this winter with a

loving fellow, come get me now! I have already been neutered and I’m current on vaccinations! If you would like to know more informa-tion about me, call Adopt-An-ANGEL at 910-392-0557.

You can visit us online at www.adoptanangel.net for more details.

Hi, my name is Skipper! I’m an 11-year-old Jack

Russell Terrier who has already been

spayed. I was relin-quished to my vet-erinarian because my owner could no longer take care of

me. I am a very sweet girl and love to run and play. I

am good with other dogs and cats. I

recently developed a skin condition that I am being treated for and have gotten a

lot better but I might require medications for a while to keep it from coming back. The folks at my vet have taken really good care of me, but I really miss being in a loving home of my own. If you are interested in visiting me or

would like to find out how you can adopt me, please con-tact College Road Animal Hospital at 910-395-6555.

ADOPT THE PRECIOUS PUPPY WHO STEALS YOUR HEART!

There are eight of us, seven boys and one girl, and we all look different – some black, some

tan, some gray. Our personalities are as differ-ent as our fur. Let’s just say our start in life

was a little less than ideal. We have been at Paw’s Place since we were 4-weeks-old – it was a little bumpy, but we are all doing very

well. Everyone is guessing that we are proba-bly Shepherd mixes. Some of us even look like we could be Lab mixes. We know that

Mom was about 35 pounds. Paw’s Place thinks that we could be about 50 pounds or more when we grow up. We’re eating very well and have had our first shots. Our appointments have been scheduled for us to be spayed and neutered, so by the time you read this, we will be ready for adoption. If you want to come play with us, drop by Paw’s Place any day from 9 – Noon, or

visit the website at www.pawsplace.org. Hope to see you soon!

I’m a Jersey girl who ended up in North Carolina! Now I’m looking for some of that famed Southern hospitality in the form of a new home. You’ll find I’m just as man-nerly and well-behaved as

any Southern Belle. Let me tell you my story: I was

found tied to a local building and when my rescuers got me checked out, a micro-chip was detected. The

microchip led them to New Jersey, where they were

told my owner had died. He had named me Princess (and my rescuers had been calling me Jessy.) It turns out my

owner’s family had given me to someone in North Carolina and from there the details get fuzzy. Suffice it to say that

I’m now homeless through no fault of my own and I’m look-ing for a new family who wants to share their life with a

SUPER girl. I’m a very small Beagle and I’m completely house-trained. I will let you know when I need to go potty.

I obey commands and will ’stay’ when asked. I’m also spayed, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention. I love all people and am the sweetest little girl. Remember, I’m

not a hunting Beagle, I’m a House Beagle! Cuddles come free with my adoption. To meet me and fall in love, call

Pender County Humane Society at 910-259-7022.

You would think when a couple of gals get adopted from Animal Control, that life would get easier, but that unfortunately is

not our case! We are Hannah and Halley, Husky sisters and littermates.

We have had an AWFUL time just trying to keep a roof over our heads! First, just let us point out that although we are good with children, big humans and other dogs

- we are not good with chickens. So if you have a big fenced yard, that would be

awesome as long as it’s not filled with chickens. The first thing we did after

leaving the shelter in Whiteville was to be boarded in kennels at a local vet for

nearly 2-weeks while a foster home could be found. So that was "home" #1. Then the chicken thing happened. Now we are in another temporary situation with a lady who isn’t able to properly care for us, so

we have Columbus Humane Society volunteers (thank Dog for them) who come by twice a day to meet our needs. We

are nearly 1-year-old, healthy, spayed and vaccinated but we need someone to work with us, love us and show us good

manners. Please give us a chance by fostering us or adopt-ing us! We are fast learners and are ready to have fun and make the most out of life! If you are interested in learning

more about us, would like to foster or adopt us, or if you have any ideas to help our rescue care for us, contact Columbus Humane Society at [email protected] or 910-619-3015.

Hi, my name is Caine and I am an 11-year-old

American Bulldog. Please don't stop reading this because of my age - I have a story to tell you! You see, my daddy who

has had me since I was a baby was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago and he had to go live with

his daughter. Unfortu-nately, I have never grown up with any other pets so

sharing a home with them was just not ideal for me. My dad’s daughter has cats therefore I couldn't go with my daddy. Thankfully, after hearing my story, Pender Per-fect Pets took me in to foster care. My foster mommy

describes me as a pure and beautiful gem and a gentle soul. I absolutely love people and all I want to do is be

by someone’s side. I am completely house-trained and I don't even have to go into a crate when you’re not home.

I know I am a little bit older, but I promise my loyalty, playfulness and spirit will make you forget all about my

age. After all, age is just a number! Please, will you call my foster mommy about me at 910-538-0106? She says that I would make someone the most wonderful compan-ion and that people have no idea what they are missing by not adopting me. I really hope you will call about me soon. I'm ready to spend the rest of my life by your side.

Love, Caine

◄I’m Bogie (A010310), a Boxer mix boy who has become a favorite around the shelter! At just 1 year of age, I’m a very sweet fellow who is ready to slide right into your home. You see, I’m already house-trained and I walk well on a leash. I know commands and am showing you how I ‘sit’ in my photo. Just think of the fun we’ll have and the love we’ll share!

◄I’m showing you how I sit on command! My name is Toby (A009959) and I’m a 1 to 2-year-old Walker Hound mix boy who is great with kids, great with adults, I ride well in the car and I’m al-ready neutered, up to date on shots and ready to go! I don’t like sharing my food, so I should be the only doggie at home, unless you can feed me separately from the others. I’m very affectionate and lov-ing. Please pick me!

All animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and treated for

fleas/ticks prior to adoption. Microchipping is also available for just $15!

◄Mr. Blue Eyes (A010009) is my name - come meet me and you’ll see why the name fits! I’m a very loving male Siamese mix who will actu-ally hug you! Yes, when you hold me, I put both my arms around your neck and bury my face against you. I just love being cuddled and am so happy to be given atten-tion. How I’m homeless is a mystery to all. I was found as a stray and am believed to be about 5-years-old. I’m such a handsome boy, too!

►There are LOTS of kittens at the shelter (at least twenty) and we are just two of them! I’m Joey (A010155) and

this is my brother Jacob (A010156) being held. We

are so sweet and adorable and we

love to receive attention from humans. If a kitten is what you’re

looking for, there is every size, shape and color imaginable here. Come pick one of us out!

◄I’m a super-awesome dog named Brutus (A010006) and I’d be a great addition to any home! I’m friendly to people of every age, sex and ethnicity and, of course, that includes children, too! I’m already house-trained and walk well on a leash. I’m easy to kennel, ride well in the car and I play nicely with other dogs. I take treats gently and I sit on command. At just 2-years-old, I’m a fantastic find! Hurry on over!

►Hi, my name is Bijou (A009025)! I’m a 2-year-old Tortoiseshell girl who has been wait-

ing for a family for far too long. I’m a sweet, affectionate kitty who

enjoys being held and will purr the entire time

I’m in your arms. I’m also spayed, vaccinated

and litterbox-trained. My adoption fee has

been paid by someone who knows what a jewel

I am and wants me to be noticed! Please let

me show you what a great companion I’d be!

Hey ya'll, I'm Suki - just a sweet little southern belle look-ing for a home and a family. I am a 1-year-old Walker Hound mix who was found starving and injured. A nice

lady saw my picture and said she would foster me. It didn't take long for my wounds to heal and for me to start gaining weight. I went from trying to survive in the woods to laying on a comfy bed in a house - and its great! I get to live in a house with other dogs (who love to play), a cat and even

guinea pigs (although they don't really like to play with me). I would love to find a family who likes to go on long walks or even runs, and a big fenced in yard for me to play in.

But I really want to find a human who will cuddle with me! If you want to give me the home I have always dreamed of, please contact 4 Paw LifeSaver Rescue at 252-531-0744

or email [email protected]. You can see more pictures of me and my friends looking for homes on our

Facebook page.

When will it ever be my turn to be adopted?? I am Pluto and I am way too

awesome to still be

up for adoption. You see, I am a 5-year-old

doggie mix who re-

cently lost my home due to my mommy having some severe medical issues. I really am sad to

lose my home but I'm trying to stay positive. I know some-where out there is someone who really wants a dog like me. I am a very sweet boy who will cuddle with you all

day. I am so smart that I actually alerted my mommy be-fore she had a medical problem! I have been a great ther-apy dog to my mommy's special needs daughter and I get

along with doggies and kitties! I am crate-trained and completely house-trained. I would make you very happy if you would give me a chance. Please, call my rescue at

910-538-0106. Hurry, I'm waiting!

◄Looking for a great companion dog? Well, here I am to save the day! My name is Parker and I’m a terri-fic medium-size Hound who is about 2-years-old and 45 pounds. I love getting attention but I am also content to relax on a nice blan-ket and chill out. I don’t jump up on you like some will, and I can sit and shake on command. I’m house-trained, too! Take me home, please.

◄Teddy Bear is my name, and it suits me perfectly! I was found as a stray, but at one time I had a family who taught me some man-ners and commands. My new friends are guessing I’m fairly young - under 2-years-old. I’m already neu-tered, vaccinated and on heartworm preven-tion. Do yourself a big favor and come check me out. I’m a gem just waiting to be found!

◄SMALL DOG ALERT! And boy, I’m as precious and sweet as they come.

I’ll roll over and let you rub my soft belly, then I’ll hop in your lap and let you cuddle me as long as you like! My name is Mocha and I’m a 4 to 5-year-old Chihuahua girl who was found abandoned

in a trailer with my best friend, Chanel. She’s a

Chihuahua, too. We can be adopted together or separately. Quiet,

friendly and gentle are words that describe us per-

fectly. Come out to the shelter for a kiss-filled meeting!

►Puppy Power to the rescue! We

can chase the blues away or make a happy

day even more joyful! No wonder everyone

smiles when we’re around!

We’re Sunshine and

Georgie, two Boxer mixes looking for loving homes. Sun-shine, a girl, is 8-weeks-old. I’m Georgie, the boy, and I’m just 6-weeks. We are cuddly bundles of fur who love life and peo-ple. Lucky is also available - he’s a 6-week-old Boxer mix, too.

►Purring, cuddling and lap-warming are my favorite things to do.

Melting human hearts is another one. In fact,

someone special has paid my adoption fee in advance because they want to give me every advantage in finding a

great home. That’s how wonderful I am! My name is Scottie

and I’m a healthy, friendly, affectionate

boy who will be a welcome addition to

any lucky family.

My Adoption Fee has already been paid!

◄Hello, PawPrints read-ers! My name is Tyler.

I’m a 1-year-old boy who loves to be petted and played with. I will show my appreciation for your attention by serenading you with hours of purring from my soothing motor. It’s music to a cat lover’s

ears! I am friendly to other felines and am

spayed, vaccinated and litterbox-trained. You

should come visit me as soon as you can. I’ll be

sure to welcome you and show you why adopting me would be a great choice!

I’m tired of being type-cast as the

homeless Basset Hound on the

small screen, I’m looking to show off my dramatic

acting chops star-ring in the Howly-

wood movie based on your life. You know the story, family meets Hound,

Hound rolls over for belly rubs,

there’s afternoon strolls, rides to the park and they fall in love. But she bat-

tles a dark secret that she has kept hidden all these years – she likes to sleep 20 hours a day. The secret is ultimately revealed, but you decide that a Hound as awesome as her is worth fighting for - she ultimately works her way to only sleeping 19 hours a day. You decide that’s good enough, accept her for who she is, and everyone lives happily ever

after. I like that story! My name is Bella and I’m waiting for my screen test. To make me a member of your family,

please call Carolina Basset Hound Rescue at 919-708-4247 or visit our website at www.cbhr.com. Also, we are always short on foster homes! If you have ever thought about fos-

tering, please contact CBHR for more details.

I am sponsored by Top Toad in the Cotton Exchange in Downtown Wilmington, NC. Thank you!

My life didn't start out the

greatest - but now I am happy and healthy and ready for my fur-ever home! My name is Allie

and I am a 4-year-old wire-haired Terrier mix girl. As a

puppy I lived in a shelter until

one day I thought I had gotten lucky

because I was able to

leave! But in-stead I went to a laboratory where they did tests on me

and other dogs that lived there. Fortunately for me, one of the lab techs fell in love with me and didn't want to see me have to stay there anymore. Somehow she talked them into letting me go - but sadly she couldn't keep me! So

now I am at SOAR, waiting for my new family. I play with other dogs and toys and have a sunny disposition. But

what would make me happiest is a cat-free home with lots of love where I could feel safe and stay forever. I promise to thank you every day with kisses and grateful cuddles!

I am sponsored by Netop, Ruby and Jacqueline in

memory of Lola Asti-Magarelli.

Onslow County Animal Services Celebrates Adopt-a-Senior-Pet Month

What Can a Senior Pet Bring to Your Life? “Think of a pet who is already trained and doesn’t chew or scratch every-thing in sight - a pet who will love you unconditionally,” said Alan Davis, Director of Onslow County Animal Services. “That’s what you get when you adopt a senior pet.” Some people worry that a senior pet comes with problems, but ac-cording to Humane Soci-ety of the United States,

there are no disadvantages. “In most cases they’ve had a home and they want one again.” One example is a pet owner adopted an 8½-year-old dog named Ellie, and has never regretted it. “An older animal is easier to deal with. And Ellie is still playful. She plays fetch and gallops all over the place.” At animal shelters and rescue groups everywhere, there are loving, healthy, senior pets like Ellie, looking for that one special home to cherish them for the rest of their life. They don’t ask for much: just a warm place to sleep, good meals and plenty of love. During Adopt-a-Senior-Pet Month (November), please take the opportunity to get acquainted with the older pets available at Onslow County Animal Services located at 244 Georgetown Road in Jacksonville. They are open to the public for pet adoptions from Noon to 6:30 pm Mon-day thru Thursday; Fridays Noon to 3:00 pm; and Satur-days from 10 am to Noon and 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. For more information, please call 910-455-0182, visit www.onslowcountync.gov/animalservices or to view adoptable animals visit www.petharbor.com.

Hello! My name is Denzel and I'm a 2-year-old handsome Boston Terrier mix. My foster mom thinks I'm

mixed with Boxer but we

both agree, I'm 100% loveable! Besides being handsome, I enjoy long walks on a leash and

games of fetch in the backyard. I adore my fos-ter furbrother

and we play all the time. In fact, I love all dogs and cats! I am a well-

behaved boy who knows to do my business outside and I love to sleep in my crate at night. I am very energetic and

would do best with regular exercise and another dog to play with at home. Sadly though, my foster mom says I have these pesky heartworms but fingers crossed - I’ll be all

cleared on November 1st! If you are interested in adding my loveable self to your family, please contact Boston

Terrier Rescue Team of the Carolinas at 828-778-2045.

I am sponsored by www.dog-mom.com, Dogmom Productions.

I'm Destiny and that means that you and I were meant to be together. Yes, that's right, just you and me. No other kitties. I love to give and receive attention - so I am all

the kitty you will ever need. I am a 1-year-old girl and I’m looking for a lap. I am also a very special kitty - I am a polydactyl...that means I have extra toes. Are you spe-

cial? Do you want to be? Adopt a special kitty (AKA me!) and you will be special, too! Oh yes, I’m already spayed, vaccinated and litterbox-trained so the only thing left for me to do is get acquainted with you and your lap. Come visit me at Petsmart in Wilmington or give Cat Adoption

Team a call at 910-792-9014. They’ll be happy to tell you how I can become a member of your family!

I am sponsored by Pine Valley Animal Hospital in honor of Sharon Harmon, who does so much

to save needy cats in Wilmington and the surrounding areas.

SOAR (Southport Oak Island Animal Rescue) Please call 910-457-6340 to adopt us!

◄I'm a lover, not a fighter, but they

tell me I’m a Boxer! (Or a Boxer mix.)

I am Lyla and I am about 2½-

years-old. I have been at SOAR since I was just a few

months old, and I just can't figure out WHY nobody has adopted me! Yes, I am a big girl and I have lots of energy, but I am the sweetest girl in the world! I am very pretty and very smart! I can sit, shake and give kisses! I am doing quite well with loose leash walk-ing. I love to play and get along well with most other dogs!

▲Don't they say that orange tigers are the best cats to have? Well, that's what I say!! I'm Sandy and I am 7-years-old. I'm a laid-back girl who gets along well

with most other cats. One of my favorite things is to be brushed - I just love it! Come by anytime and see me!

►Cute! Cute! Cute! That is me! I am full

of cuteness! My name is Bianca and I live at SOAR with

my sister Alana and my brother

Dominick! And we are all white! Our

sister Catarina was a tuxedo cat and has already been adopted. Now we are just waiting for

someone to take us home, too! We are about 3½-months-old and love to play. We are spayed/neutered, vaccinated

and litterbox-trained. Hop in the car and come see us!

►They say I am a little "chunky" - but I just say I'm "bigger

boned"! My name is Alee and I’m a lovely

girl who is about 7-years-old. I am quite fuzzy and I

have the most beau-tiful fur - it’s a combi-nation of peach and

smokey gray col-ors! I am a sweet girl and currently I

am in the open room with other cats, so I think I will be fine with another cat as long as we are properly introduced.

I can sometimes be a little nervous in new surround-ings, so please just be patient with me!

►Hi, I'm Madison. I am 11-years-old, and though

that may be old in cat years, in my heart I am still a youngster. I had been with my person my entire life, but then she got sick and passed away! I was

very sad because I knew I would miss her and also

because I didn't know what would happen to me. But the awesome people at

SOAR took me in and now I am just waiting for someone

to see how beautiful and loving I am. I have been around other cats all my life so don't be afraid to take me home

even if you already have another cat!

►Bonjour! My name is

Louie. As you can see – I am an extremely handsome

fellow! I like to be rubbed and

one of my favorite things is to sit in front of the window

and watch everything that goes on at SOAR! I live in the open cat area so I get along pretty well with other cats. I’m also neutered, vaccinated and litterbox-trained. I would love to see you! Call SOAR

for directions if you don’t know how to get here. You’ll have a great day meeting everyone - especially me!

snuggles and I'm right at home on a soft, cushy bed all my own....or better yet, on a

My only wish is to join a family who will truly love me for the rest of my life. My adoption

Looking for a friendly, loving, well-trained companion? Here I am! My name is Daisy and I’m a 4-year-old girl who weighs in at a perfect 44 pounds. Not too big and

not too small! I once had a home, but the landlord said I couldn’t stay. It’s a shame, because I’m such a smart and obedient girl! I will sit on command with ease, and I’m house-trained so you won’t have to worry about any accidents. I’m great with children and I play well with

other dogs. I’ve never been around cats. I love to ride in the car and I am familiar with a dog crate. I play nicely in a fenced-in area and am already spayed and vaccinated. Please come meet me and let’s see if I can be your new family member! Call the New Hanover Humane Society

◄Hello, my name is Tanner! I’m a

2-year-old English Set-ter/American Bull Dog

mix. I am quiet, gentle, house-trained and

crate-trained. My tail wags incessantly when I hear a familiar voice.

I am up to date on vaccines, neutered,

microchipped and heart-worm negative. I am a beautiful dog with strik-ing markings and will

make someone a won-derful companion. I love my people and am learning to

have more self-confidence around other dogs.

◄Hi, my name is Rusty! I’m a

2-year-old boy who appears to be a Jack Russell/Hound mix. I am very sweet. I’m also friendly to my

canine buddies and I love my people! I am somewhat shy, but my friends tell me obedi-ence training will in-

crease my self-confidence. I weigh

around 45 pounds, am up to date on shots and I’m crate-training and house-training well. Let’s get together!

◄Wheee, wanna play with me? My

name is Lola and I’m a 6-year-old Shep-

herd/Lab mix. I am a sweet-loving gal and I generally get along well with docile male dogs. I love to run and play in the yard and snuggle inside with my humans. I am house-trained, crate-trained, up to

date on vaccines and on heartworm pre-vention. I do take

glucosamine but, as you can see, I get around just fine! When you adopt me, I

will come to you with a microchip. Let’s go home!

◄I’m Kent, a 20-month-old Black Lab/Bull Dog mix who was found as a stray. I’m a favorite among the humans

who know me and I also received rave reviews at

two vet offices. I am up to date on vaccines, neutered, and doing well with house-training. Unfortunately, I’m heartworm positive, but I’m finishing up my treatment

and will soon be ready for a new family. Donations for my vet bill can be sent to

Sunburst at P.O. Box 10118, Wilmington, NC 28404. Donations can also be made via our website, www.sunburstfoundationofwilmington.org and

via Pay Pal. Thank you for your tax-deductible help!

Sunburst Foundation will be holding an

online auction for the Pender County Animal Shelter, starting on Monday, November 4 and ending on Friday, November 15 at 6pm. We are asking interested individuals/businesses to donate an auction item. For more info, email [email protected]. Of

course, we need folks to join in and bid on the auction items as well. The online auction

will be held on Facebook.

◄I’m Rosie, a won-derful, small-sized girl who would love to be part of your family! At a mere 35 pounds and 6-years-old, I’m a Pug/Chow mix who is smart and friendly. I adore children and am friendly to adult hu-mans also! I’m great with cats and I get along well with doc-ile male dogs. I’d even be a great agil-ity dog! I’m also spayed, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention. You and I could be a perfect match!

Hi, my name is Sancho. I was surrendered to

C.A.R.E. I was nursed back to health. I need

someone with pa-tience since it takes a while to warm up

to new people. The only people so far I have come to

be fond of are adults. Once I get to know you, we'll be best friends.

with any questions.

I am sponsored by Atlantic Animal Hospital who supports Coastal Animal Rescue Effort (C.A.R.E.).

My name is Dixie and I’m a Fox Hound mix.

“Beautiful!” That’s what people say when they see me. I have very pretty markings. I’m even in the 2014

Paw’s Place Calendar. I’m now a year old –

but still a puppy – and I’ve got lots of energy!

A family who would spend time with me

and play with me in a fenced yard or take me running would be per-fect. Paw’s Place has made sure that I’m up to date on my shots.

I’m heartworm negative and have been spayed. We think that I will be about 40 pounds once I mature. I really love

people and especially kids. Please stop by Paw’s Place to see if we are a match! For adoption information, call

blood for my heartworm test. I am negative, by the way. I would have been drop dead

gorgeous, but someone did a “home crop job” on my ears

and just about chopped them all off! However, my personality far overshadows this one blemish. I am great with other animals, but could play too roughly for a cat. I would do well with kids,

too. Since I am a Pitbull, I do not want to fall into the wrong hands so a home visit is required. If you would like to know more info about me, call 910-392-0557.

My name is Ollie and I am the sweetest, most fun loving boy

you will ever meet. I am a teen-age Pitbull pup who is about 8-

months-old. Someone did a “home crop job” on my ears so

now they are permanently disfig-ured, but my personality makes up for this one small blemish.

Since I am a Pitbull, Adopt-An-ANGEL will be requiring a home visit so that I don’t end up in the wrong hands. I am gentle, super

friendly and deserve the best home out there. I do really well with other dogs, but I could play too roughly

with a cat. My sister, Autumn, is also up for adoption. I am all black and she is solid white. If you would like to know more info about me or the adoption process, call

Adopt-An-ANGEL today at 910-392-0557.

Hi, my name is Lady and I am a little Ter-rier mix who weighs around 15 pounds. I was surrendered by my owner after living

with her for 15-years. Yes, I am 15-years-old now with no where to go. I

am sweet, quiet and no trouble at all. Quiet walks with a mature person is what I need. I would be best without small chil-dren. I do have some arthritis in my rear hip but other than that, the Vet says I am in very good

health. Please call R.A.C.E. at 910-547-2839 for an appointment to come and meet me. You may also

visit us online at www.raceshelter.org.

Hola, me llamo es Sparky. I am one cute, sweet,

healthy, male 13-year-old black and tan Chihuahua. I

was surrendered by my owner and now I am

searching for my forever family to let me live out the rest of my life feeling love - and not have to worry about being given away again. I am a true Lap Dog, that is what makes me the happi-est. I am 5 pounds of pure

love. Please let there be someone out there reading this magazine who thinks I am the perfect dog for them. Please call R.A.C.E. at 910-547-2839 or visit us on the

web at raceshelter.org. Like us on Facebook.

I'm Freddie and when I arrived at the shel-ter, I needed some help. I had an eye infection and some

hair loss. They gave me medicine for my

eye and for demodetic mange and I'm look-ing good now! I'm a 1 to 2-year-old Shep-herd/Collie mix with a

white, tan and black coat. They tell me I'm very handsome. I've been neutered, I’m up to date on

shots and I’m heartworm negative and on preventa-tive. I get along with other dogs. I'm a friendly, lov-ing dog who would love to have a family of my own.

Call 910-271-3101 for info on how to meet me.

I'm Hope and when I was picked up as a stray, I was so scared that I hid at the back of my kennel with my head down. The volunteers saw

something special about me that made them give me the

name Hope. Look at me now! I'm about a year old, a small Shepherd/Shar-Pei mix who weighs just 35 pounds. My foster Mom says that I'm the smartest and most loveable foster she’s ever had.

I've never met a stranger and I get along with kids, other dogs, and cats. I'm trained on an underground fence, great on a leash and house-trained. I'm up to date on shots and spayed. If you are ready for a very

special girl, call 910-271-3101 to meet me.

We love attention and would love to have a forever home. We get along well with other

cats and dogs, too. We would like to be adopted together if possible. If you are interested in adopting me, please com-

PENDER PERFECT PETS

My name is Sam and, boy, have I had a ruff year. I was adopted out almost a year ago to a won-

derful family but sadly it was found that my new (human) sis-

ter was allergic to me. I then went to live at a retirement facil-ity and I was doing great with all of my new human friends, but then one day someone left the door open a little too long and I really wanted to see what was

outside...after that I had to come BACK to my rescue again. I am an old boy at 10-years-old and I just want a relaxing retirement home. I am in great health for my age and I really won’t be a bother. I provide

great company and I'm a good cuddler, too. Will you please call Pender Perfect Pets at 910-538-0106? Take a chance on a boy like me, us old doggies make great pets.

4 PAW LIFESAVER RESCUE

I’m Justice, a 2-year-old American Staffordshire mix. My owner was a nice lady, but she was kind of older and couldn't take care of me. Now I live in a foster home and even get to cuddle on the couch. There's no

chain in the yard and I get to run and play with the other dogs as

much as I want. I go to adoption events and everyone gets to pet

me. I love all the attention and I’m really good while I sit patiently for

children to meet me. I am well-mannered, house-trained, crate-trained, vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and being treated for heartworms. To adopt me, please call 252-531-0744 or email [email protected].

Visit our Facebook page, 4 Paw LifeSaver Rescue.

My name is Roxanne. I was living at a local fish place and had gotten pregnant for the second time when Topcat

stepped in to take care of me and my babies. All of my little ones have found homes and now it is MY turn. I'm about

2-years-old and still young at heart. I’m a lover and like to cuddle. I may be shy for the first couple of days but will

warm up quickly. I like to use a scratching post or you can get me one of those cardboard ones that I can scratch on.

I like toys, too. I have been spayed and had all my shots so I am ready. Won't you give me a safe and loving inside

home? To find out more, please email [email protected] or call 910-200-0612.

ONSLOW COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER

My name is Teddie (A071414) and I’m one adorable guy who is searching for that forever home.

At a whopping 3 pounds, I’m a big cuddler! I also love to give kisses

as I lay my head against your chest to feel the rhythm of your

breathing. That makes me give a big sigh showing you just how

satisfied I am in your presence. The one thing I do need is to be around you constantly - I’m not a loner! I’m a long-haired Chihuahua/Papillon mix who is house-trained. If you will allow me, I’ll sleep in bed with

you. I do just fine around other dogs, but haven’t spent any time around felines. To adopt me, call 910-455-0182. The shelter is located at 244 Georgetown Road in Jacksonville.

ONSLOW PARTNERS FOR ANIMAL WELFARE

My name is Samantha and I am a young, beautiful girl

who is a smooth Collie mix. I have lots of energy for play-ing, I’m very sweet and lov-ing and I’m good with kids

and other dogs. I am about 1-year-old, a small 25

pounds, current on vaccina-tions, spayed, heartworm

negative and just groomed. I am house-trained and know how to sit and shake hands for treats. I will walk on a

leash, ride well in a car and respond to a whistle. I have

lots of love to give to a forever family. Please call my Onslow County Partners for Animal Welfare foster parents,

Joe or Helen, at 910-545-1846 or 910-545-1844.

PET FRIENDS OF DUPLIN COUNTY

My name is Dixie and I'm a sweet girl who has been over-looked for a long time. I'm be-

tween 3 to 4-years-old and I’m a Boxer and Lab mix who was

rescued just before my time ran out. I've been fostered as an

indoor dog and am house-trained and crate-trained. I've also been

fostered as an outdoor dog. I love to play with other dogs, so if you have a dog who

needs a companion, that would be perfect. I do well on a leash and love riding in the car. I get along with people of

all ages and love attention. I get a little excited around cats, so I probably should be in a home without them. I've been spayed, I’m up to date on my shots and I’m on heartworm

prevention. If you want to meet me to see what a great dog I am, call 910-271-3101. I'll be waiting.

COASTAL ANIMAL RESCUE EFFORT (C.A.R.E.)

Hello, Mickey Mouse is my name and I 'm a laid back girl! I get along great with other cats and love people. My weight is managed by a special diet. I am a very pretty kitty, as you can see from my picture, and I’m ready to fill your home with love. If you think I am a pretty kitty, then please see the application and the re-quired specifications before applying at carewilming-ton.org. If you have any questions, please call 910-256-2624.

PENDER ENDANGERED ANIMAL RESCUE

Hello, I’m a young lady named Khia, and I’m a beautiful Blue-Nose

Pitty. My original owner is in the military and was shipped out. Of course, I couldn't go. I did end up in a friend’s care and at that time I swallowed a

corn cob by accident and it got lodged in my intestines. PEAR took me in and had it removed. There were many other internal problems and

the vet bills piled up. I am also in need of heartworm treat-ment. I am a loving Blue Nose...and I need some help. If interested in fostering and/or helping out with donations,

contact PEAR at [email protected] or call 910-675-0867. I also am searching for a new forever family!

R.A.C.E. (Rescue Animals Community Effort)

Woof Woof!! My name is Trudy and I am a super sweet,

obedient, loving, 3-year-old Beagle. I was sitting in the

shelter for a long time because no one gave me a chance but I’ve since gone to a foster fam-ily. I am flourishing, happy and looking for my forever home. If you like Beagles, you can't go

wrong with me. I am not a barker or digger. All my vet work is complete and I can't

wait for my long journey to end - or should I say begin with

you. Come on and call R.A.C.E. at 910-547-2839 or visit us on the web at raceshelter.org. Like us on Facebook.

PAWSITIVE PARTNERS PRISON PROGRAM

Hello, my name is Watson. I’m one of the dogs in the

Pawsitive Partners Prison Pro-gram and have completed my time here but, because I was so fearful of everything, my training went a little slower

than most dogs. I have come a long way and would love a home with another dog as I

really love to play. I’d also love to be with a very patient hu-man who will give me time to

get to know them. I’m about 2-years-old and a Greyhound/Walker mix, have all my shots, have been through heart-

worm treatment and am microchipped, so I’m all set to go! To meet me, call Monica at 910-297-1338 or email

[email protected]. Applications are on www.montyshome.org.

Hi, my name is Beauregard and I am a male orange Domestic Shorthair

who is very spe-cial. You see, I don’t have any

teeth so soft food only, please.

Other than that, I am a healthy, 5-

year-old boy who weighs 14 pounds. I lived in a home so my house manners are quite good. I like everyone I meet and love cuddling but eating and sleeping are my favorite things. Oh, and a little playtime is good, too! To adopt

me, please call 910-383-2100 for more info.

SCHNAUZER RESCUE OF THE CAROLINAS CAROLINA BASSET HOUND RESCUE

“It was a dark and stormy night, a cacophony of dog

yelps bounced off the cinder block walls – a persistent re-minder of how dire my situa-tion had become.” It was a

terrible scene. Where was I? Yes, the shelter - clanging dog bowls and an apparent lack of upholstered furniture seemed to be my new normal. For the

first time in my life, being vertically challenged and long in the ear really paid off – CBHR rescued me! I am enjoying the good life at my foster home but I am ready to write the

next chapter in my life. Let us bask in the sunlight and snack on Snausages together – ask for me – Bazooka! To

adopt me, call 919-708-4247 or visit www.cbhr.com.

I’m Tori and I'm searching for a family that has a fenced yard and other doggies. I'm very timid, but I do so want to be loved! I need a patient family that I can give

kisses to and maybe get my belly rubbed. I am very healthy at

13 pounds, fully vetted, house-trained and micro-chipped. I

hang out with medium-sized dogs in my foster home. But what I really love is attention from my

humans! I love to ride in the car and walk around the block. To adopt me, visit www.schnauzerrescueofthecarolinas.org.

There you can fill out an application or view other pets up for adoption. If you need an application mailed or faxed,

please call 781-799-4272.

COASTAL CAROLINA BOSTON TERRIER RESCUE

I’m Bender and I came into rescue with two other Bostons.

All of us were seriously neglected and received lots of TLC and

medical care. I love running in the yard with my foster sisters

even though they are fast and I can’t catch them. I am not quite

house-trained or crate-trained but I am getting better due to obedi-

ence training and my great desire to please. I love walking on leash and can use a doggie

door. I have a cute little puckered lip that makes me a little different than your average Boson Terrier boy. I am now a healthy weight, neutered, microchipped, and am ready for a forever home. Don’t you want a Bender of your own? For more info, please contact CCBTR at [email protected] or

call 252-633-0987. Visit us online at www.ccbtr.org.

SHAR-PEI RESCUE OF VIRGINIA

I‘m Tucker and I’m a sweet male Shar-Pei. Life is good at my foster home and I am best buddies with the little boy. I follow my foster mom and our little guy everywhere and love to give kisses. I was quite neglected before

being rescued and was both heartworm and Lyme disease positive. The res-cue got me the veterinary care that I

needed, and I am all better and ready to go to a “furever” home! I would do

best with a family that has kids and I do well with other dogs. I am absolutely

lovely and any family would be lucky to have me! To learn more about me, see more pictures, or

fill out an application, please check out my profile at www.sharpeirescueofva.org. You can also call 609-494-0020 or email [email protected] for more info.

GREAT DANE RESCUE ALLIANCE

My name is Isabelle and I'm a wonderful

girl who is 3 to 4-years-old. I was

heartworm positive, but I recently had

my first treatment. I will also be receiv-ing eye surgery in both eyes and be

spayed. My foster family says I'm a true love. I'm currently living with another female Dane and doing well. My picture was taken by the wonderful folks at Ravenscry Photogra-

phy. I'll be available for adoption once my heartworm treat-ment and surgeries are done. To adopt me, please email

[email protected] or call 704-559-4121.

ECHO DOGS - White German Shepherd Rescue

I am Ollie, an all-around GRRReat gentleman. I am a loving and set-tled boy and I get along with every-one. They say I am reaching my

golden years, but I do not show my age. I still enjoy playing and get along fine with other dogs with a similar energy level. I even enjoy

the company of kitties. I have very good manners, I am house-trained, I’m not at all destructive, and I pre-

fer the security and safety of my crate. I am looking for a furever family who will let me enjoy my senior years in a

low-stress environment. I do not think I would do well with high-energy dogs (or kids). To learn more about me, con-

tact Lori at 910-431-6294 or visit www.echodogs.org.
