PORT Elizabeth-based property companyJust Letting was named best lettings agencyin Africa at the International PropertyAwards in London last week.

The company, which is a division of theJust Property Group, was nominated for theprestigious global award after winning theSouth African category at the Africa and Sa-udi Arabia regional awards in November.

According to Just Property Group chiefexecutive Paul Stevens, he was pleased toreceive recognition from his peers in the in-dustry but said it held more value for con-sumers from a credibility perspective.

“Most importantly, it means that people

can trust who they’re dealing with.”Stevens said the award also showed that

African companies could do business andcompete as equals at an international level.

He believed factors that set the groupapart were the size of the company, the spe-cialised focus of the letting and sales divi-sions, and unique products such as depositand rental guarantees.

With 102 franchise offices in South Africaand another in Namibia, Stevens said JustProperty was a young, dynamic and trulySouth African brand.

Just Letting was founded in 1999, with theofficial formation of the group followingeight years later.

“We started our sales division in 2010 butletting was, and still is, the core of our busi-

ness.“According to the Tenant Profile Net-

work, we currently hold more than 20 percent of the residential letting marketshare,” he said.

Stevens said the group was also aggres-sively expanding its residential sales andcommercial divisions.

“We’re about to enter an exciting newphase in the new year. We’re moving intoa whole new segment of the market that webelieve has been previously uncatered forin South Africa.”

In 2015, it received the PMR Africa GoldenArrow Award for excellent customer ser-vice in the Eastern Cape and was voted theBest of Pretoria Rekord Readers’ Choice inthe estate agency category.

jealous when she pays no attention to me and gives cud-dles and kisses to her daddy,” Flanagan said.The family will be spending Sianna’s first Christmas at

home inCharlo, togetherwith her grandparents, whowillcertainly shower Sianna with Christmas presents. Someother gifts shewill receive in her stockingwill be her firstbible story, a tea set, barbie dolls, a leap frog laptop, Bar-ney DVD collection and sing-along action songs, accord-ing to Flanagan.ShewasbornonMay1 thisyearandshestartedsleeping

sweet potato. “Her favourite snacks are her teething bis-cuits and jogolino cereal and biscuit yoghurt. Sianna eatsextremely healthily.”Her favourite toy is her walking ring. “Sianna is a little

fast and furious girl in her walker. She speeds around thehouse and also dances to every tune her walker plays.”Sianna’s parents believe she will start crawling soon.

“She is starting to crawl backwards, so I think very soonshe will be crawling around the floor like a busy worm.”For her parents Sianna is their “beautiful little prin-

cess.” “Shehas changedour lives in somanyways. Siannawakes up every morning with a pretty big smile and thenshe starts ‘talking’ non-stop.My daughter is indeed a veryhappy baby.“I’m very grateful for Sianna’s life; being her mother

is my greatest joy. She’s healthy, happy, pleasant, adora-ble, cuteness overload and so humble – she’s definitelySanta’s favourite princess.”

THE Bridge Shopping Centre donated 150HelpingHampers to brighten the day for can-cer patients at Livingstone Hospital Oncolo-gy Unit.

This handover was the culmination of acampaign that ran in October andNovemberin aid of cancer awareness and with the aimof offering a gesture of support to those in theEastern Cape who are fighting the disease.The campaign relied on the participation

of the public and entailed the filling of boxeswith the items on an enclosed shopping list.The boxes were available to collect from TheBridge Centre Management office throughthe course of October and November. The

public was encouraged to collect a box, pur-chase all the items on one of three shoppinglists, fill the box with the purchased items,write a note of encouragement to the recipi-ent, decorate the box and drop the completedHelping Hamper back at The Bridge Shop-ping Centre’s Management Office.Sonica van der Meulen, representing The

Bridge Shopping Centre, said that they aregrateful to the public for the support that thecampaign received and they are immenselyproud to be able to make a difference in thelives of the patients.Charmelle Mitchell, a nursing sister at the

Oncology Unit, said that the nursing staff ishumbled by the gesture and that she is grate-ful for the goodwill of members of the publicwho donated so generously to the patients.

We started this XXX – The 30th Anniversa-ry Tour in 2014 so we’re very proud that itstill goes on and can finish in style in 2016(when we’re actually having our 30th anni-versary!). The good, the bad and the ugly wouldhave been another way of putting it.

first Test at Durban’s Kingsmead from Box-ing Day to December 30.

AS the year draws to its conclusion it andthe 2015 Formula 1 season will soon be con-signed to the history books. As ever the sea-son’s intriguing battles were never solelyconsigned to the race track.

The engine debateEngines have been the subject of heated

debate for the entire season. From the costof manufacturing to performance levels tohow they affect the sustainability of thesport; all of it has been questioned andpicked apart throughout 2015.

After months of wrangling Renault andRed Bull have reached an agreement onpower unit supply. The public quarrel be-tween the two ended in what we thoughtwas a messy divorce.

However, when neither Ferrari norMercedes and not even Honda wanted tosupply a potential rival the team had toslink back to Renault. After smoothingover some sizeable differences the RedBull team will run the French engine butit will be branded as TAG Heuer.

Red Bull won’t have Renault’s undivid-ed attention though as the French manu-facturer has purchased the Lotus F1 Team.It’s a saving grace for Lotus who has beenin financial strife for a number of years.The most public example of this was thefailure of the team to pay then driver KimiRaikkonen’s salary. Venezuelan driverPastor Maldonado will be partnered by En-glish rookie Jolyon Palmer in 2016.

Mighty Mercedes and a Ferrari revivalEarly on in the season it was clear that

Mercedes had maintained its pace advan-tage. For anyone it would be too difficultto consistently beat the mighty Silver Ar-rows. The highly billed duel between NicoRosberg and Lewis Hamilton neverreached the heights or intensity of 2014.This time around Hamilton summarilyoutperformed Rosberg to the point wherewhen the German driver finally pitchedup the championship had already been-won by his British teammate.

In Texas Lewis Hamilton was crowned

a three-time world champion and luck hadvery little to do with it. Three years agohe made a move to Mercedes that was metwith a great deal of apprehension. Froma team with championship pedigree inMcLaren he went to Mercedes who wereseemingly condemned to the mid-field. Itdidn’t suddenly turn around in 2014 ei-ther. Rather it was the culmination ofyears of work put in by those behind thescenes of this team. It is never about oneyear in isolation and so to winning worldtitles for any driver is a culmination ofyears of work and dedication.

A complete reshuffle of personnel atFerrari resulted in a stunning turn-around for the Italian team. Three daz-zling victories and a slew of podiums re-sulted as they continue to push towardsthe front of the grid.

The arrival of Sebastian Vettel and therelationship between himself and team-mate Kimi Raikkonen brought a harmonyto the team. In 2015 Ferrari admitted thatthis driver-pairing and their ability to

work together have been a relief for theteam.

Rookie sensationDrivers that enter F1 for the first time

hardly make as big a splash as Max Ver-stappen has. Not even Lewis Hamilton’sfirst year, back in 2007, was met with suchunilateral hype. The teenaged Dutch driv-er, Verstappen, burst onto the scene withaudacious overtaking manoeuvres and aclear-as-day hunger to go racing no matterwhat he has to driver. Even the staunch-est of critics have to submit that Verstap-pen has huge potential. While one seasondoes not make a driver it is indisputablethat if Verstappen can keep it all togetherwe are all in for a quite a ride.

There was much more than mentionedhere which made up the 2015 season. Andin less than 100 days it resumes with dyna-mism that no other sport in the world canmatch. Until then I wish you and yourfamilies the happiest of holidays and aprosperous racing-fuelled new year.
