Penryn RFC v
Plymouth Argaum RFC
www.penrynrugby.comPENRYN RFC
Cornwall’s Oldest Rugby Club • Founded 1872 •
After a fantastic win last week against Wessex, the boys are in high spirits as the season comes towards the end. The support that we’ve been getting is great, and we really appreciate it. Hopefully we can give the crowd something to cheer about today too!The coming weeks will determine our season. All we can do is to keep on winning, and the rest is up to Wellington and Saltash. So, fingers crossed as the boys have worked really hard this season to put themselves where they are.Enjoy the game. Ian Morgan, Coach.
Welcome to The Memorial Ground for our penultimate home game of the season, and we are delighted to have the visiting players, officials and supporters of Plymouth Argaum with us this afternoon. We hope they enjoy their time with us and have a safe trip back over The Tamar later. There’s everything to play for this season as The Borough continue their push for a spot in the Western Counties League next season – with your support we can hopefully get the boys over the line!

• The club are delighted to announce that full-back Aaron Simmonds has been called up by the England U18 Counties side for two matches against Ireland on 4th and 7th April. Both games will take place at HMS Temeraire. Prior to those games, the England Counties side will play a warm-up match against Championship side Ealing Trailfinders’ Academy on 10th March.• Penryn U18 Girls prop Mia Abbot-Smith has been offered a place at the Bristol School of Excellence after a recent assessment there. The news means that Mia is now officially an elite rugby player with a clear player pathway through to representing England Women. Mia, still just fifteen years old will still be playing for Penryn when possible.• Falmouth University student and club photographer Billie Fletcher’s new film about our Ladies side has been launched. The production, which will form part of an exhibition at Bethnal Green’s Oxford House venue over the coming weeks focuses on Penryn player Steph Trapp, her rugby story and the tale of the experiences of our Ladies side, featuring preparations and action from their game at Bideford. The five minute film can be seen online at: www.youtube.com/watch?v=5klciAdYSbY&feature=youtu.be• Michelle Buxton, our youth section secretary was recently diagnosed with a serious illness and as a club we would like to support her and her family through these difficult times. A fundraising disco will take place on 6th April in the clubhouse. Tickets are £5 a head, with kids free. We will also have a raffle on the night. Contact Helena Truen or ask at the bar for ticket purchase.• Our final home game of the season, against fellow promotion chasers Saltash on 14th April looks like being a huge game – tell your friends and family, and let’s get a big crowd here backing the Borough on the day in black and red!
