MPath'sreservoirtoolsaretheproductofPermedia'sthree‐yearresearchanddevelopmentconsortium(2005‐2008)todevelopasetoffullphysics,reservoirfillingandmixingsimulators.
PressureandTracersMPathPressureandTracersgeneratesapressureandvelocityfieldfromanyvolume(structuredorunstructuredmesh)withsourcesandsinks(typicallyinjectorandproductionwells).Dopefluidswithanynumberofnumericaltracerstotrackthemovementofthefluids.Typicalapplicationsincludeevaluatingdynamicconnectivityofgeostatistically‐generatedreservoirmodels,identifyingpressurecompartmentalizationandpre‐screeningreservoirmodelspriortofullproductionsimulation.
EvaluatingflowandconnectivitywithPressureandTracers
TwocomponentmisciblemixingMPathMiscibleMixingcantakeanytwoend‐memberfluidsandmixthemaccordingtotheirresponsestoconvection,diffusionanddispersion.Thefluidsareassumedtobemiscible,butmaybecompressible.Applicationsincludethemixingoftwodistinctoils,queryinggravitysegregationandconvectiondriveduringreservoirfillingandinjectingCO2intosalineaquifers.
N‐componentmixingAnextensionofthetwocomponentMiscibleMixingsimulator,n‐ComponentMixingintroducesn‐componentandmulti‐phasesupport.AbetaofthissimulatorwillbereleasedtoConsortiummembersinthefallof2007,withfinalproductexpectedtowardstheendofthefirstquarterof2008.
BlackOilMPathBlackOilisablackoilproductionsimulator.Currentlyindevelopment,whencomplete,modelerswillbeabletotakeMigrationoutput,chargedetailedreservoirmodelsusingtheMixingsimulators,andpasstheresultstoMPathBlackOil.

RiskinganduncertaintyAllofMPath'ssimulatorsaresupportedbyMPath'sriskingframework,whichallowsprobabilitydistributionstobewrappedaroundsimulatorinputs.Assignprobabilitydistributionstokeyvariables,sampledusingavarietyoftechniques,andexecutemultiplesimulationsusingdistributedprocessing.Simulationoutputsarerankedaccordingto“goodnessoffit”withobserveddata.
