Welcome from the General Manager of Baseball NSW to the 2013 Sydney Women’s Invitational
On behalf of Baseball New South Wales, I would like to welcome all players, coaches, officials, volunteers,
spectators and supporters to the 2013 NSW Women’s Invitational championships.
I open by extending my appreciation to our partners Manly Warringah Baseball and their major supporter Dee
Why RSL for showing such great support for baseball in New South Wales and recognising the importance of
women’s baseball in Australia.
Congratulations to all players for their preparation in the lead up to this tournament. We know the level of
play will be extremely high this weekend, and those now playing are paving the way for a bright baseball
future for all players today and tomorrow.
This annual tournament is being staged at the fantastic Aquatic baseball complex in the Warringah Council
area. This is the home for baseball in the Manly Warringah area and we thank Warringah council for their
continued interest in our great sport and their support in our efforts to deliver quality events for players both
domestically and internationally.
Preparing this calibre of event requires the hard work and dedication from a large group of people. To the
organising committee at the Manly Warringah baseball club I would like to sincerely thank you for your
collaboration and assistance in the preparation of this event.
To our Women’s League standing Committee, congratulations for driving this event and ensuring its
continued success. I would especially like to mention Brian Delavere and his team for the professionalism
shown in delivering this event.
To the supporting sponsors: Gary White’s Diamond One, Ashleigh Ross’ Red Stitches, Service With a Smile
Vending Co, Premier Awards and the Edwards Family, thank you. We look forward to long and prosperous
relationships with each of you and I encourage the baseball community to reciprocate the support that our
sponsors have shown our game.
I wish all participants in the 2013 Sydney Women’s Invitational the best of luck throughout the tournament.
Kind regards,
Tim Harradine
General Manager

Welcome
On behalf of the New South Wales Women’s League Standing Committee I would like to welcome
you to the 2013 Women’s Invitational. This is the 4th year of the tournament and it is fast becoming
one of the must play club competitions in Australian women’s baseball. I have been to all previous
Invitational’s and have witnessed some high quality baseball being played by players from all States
and even the odd sprinkling of overseas players coming to visit.
The tournament also gives opportunities for new friendships to flourish amongst the baseball
families along with the reunion of some friendships from earlier tournaments from parents and
players alike.
No other tournament in this country offers these opportunities. We are both proud and fortunate to
be given the opportunity to stage this tournament every year into the future.
I would also like to formally thank the Manly Warringah Baseball Club for hosting the event this year.
To the NSW Baseball Umpires Association and NSW Scorers Association thank you for your support
of this event. To the Tournament Organising Committee and their team of volunteers a big thank you
for all the work that you all have put into making this event a successful one.
This year the tournament enters a new era where there will be 2 separate divisions for the first time.
Division 1 which will be an elite competition and we are proud to introduce a Division 2 to give
development opportunities for our younger stars and also to give the young at heart player a chance
to take part in a tournament atmosphere where enjoyment is a priority.
Teams will come from NSW, Victoria and ACT to compete this year. We will also stage the annual
home run derby with some great prizes up for grabs in both divisions.
So for the spectators and supporters sit back relax and enjoy the weekend. While the rest of our
ladies put on a show which I’m sure you will enjoy.
See you on the diamonds
Steve Taylor
Chairman NSWWBL

To Our Sponsors.
The NSW Women’s Baseball League would sincerely like to thank our sponsors for their support of the NSW Invitational Tournament and women’s baseball in general. This event could
not be run without the contribution from these generous individuals and businesses who continually assist us every time that we knock on their doors. To Gary White at Diamond One, for you continued support of the Home Run Derby. Gary as you may well know is a former Australian representative and a member of the Australian Baseball Hall of Fame. Diamond One and Gary has been our supporter of the Home Run Derby section of this event since its inception 4 years ago. http://www.diamondone.com.au
To Ashleigh Ross from Red Stitches, for your donation of all of the match baseballs for the tournament. Ashley isn’t new to women’s baseball, being a current State Team player and NSW Junior Coach. Ashley’s venture into the baseball/softball retail area has given us a very welcome new partner in this tournament. http://www.redstitches.com.au To the Edwards Family and their business, Service with a Smile who provide professional vending machines, products and services, for the very kind donation of both cash prizes and the supply of bottled water for our umpires, scorers and volunteers.
http://www.servicewithasmile.com.au
Our major sponsor for the last three years , REMA Industries, experienced severe difficulties when their business premises was extensively damaged by fire in the latter part of 2012. They were unable to assist us this year but we again thank them for their support of all of the previous tournaments. From all of us involved in organising the tournament, the players and everyone in baseball, we wish you the very best for 2013 and may the new year see you back on your feet again.
We would ask that everyone please give back to our sponsors who go out of their way every year to get you onto the baseball field for this the NSW Women’s Baseball Invitational Tournament. I would ask you to “Support Those who Support Us” in women’s baseball. Brian Delavere
NSWWBL Invitational Tournament Organising Committee.

To Our Hosts, Manly Warringah District Baseball Association.
What can we say but a very big thank you to Jeff, Bob and all of the others working behind the scenes to make
this event an enjoyable experience for all of the players, officials, volunteers, families and baseball supporters.
Many people simply do not recognise the amount of work that is required to present the fields for play. The
tons of dirt that has been delivered, spread, raked over, flattened out so that you the players can get out
there and show your skills to your utmost potential. Credit must be given to the Manly Warringah volunteers
for their outstanding effort in presenting the playing surfaces that they have delivered.
Our Officials.
John Bailey and his team of umpires who have given up not only a normal working day on Friday, but also
their long weekend to come out and officiate the matches, a very big thanks to you and your team. John and
Trent have put in so much work leading up to the tournament with drafting of the rules, attending our various
meetings and never saying no to every last minute change that we have asked for.
Our Scorers Co-ordinator, Elaine Teasdale, who has prepared all of the results, drafted new paperwork to
make our running of the tournament so much easier. Elaine has been able to squeeze in our tournament
between State League and ABL commitments and we again sincerely thank Elaine for taking on this very large
task almost singlehandedly.
Our Volunteers.
To all of those too numerous to mention volunteers, we ask for your help and we have people coming from
everywhere to assist. This effort doesn’t go unnoticed not unappreciated. We simply couldn’t present an
event of this significance without your invaluable assistance. A special note to Lindsay Eden for the setting up
our Facebook presence, web site setup and update, checking of registrations and all of the many other tasks,
my sincere thanks for your help and support.
The Organising Committee.
Wow guys, would you ever put up your hands to undertake this amount of work again? I certainly hope so as
planning has already started for the even bigger and better 2014 event which just might see three (3)
international teams competing. To Sandy, Stan and Debra, thank you not only for the work that you have put
in to get this event in place, but also and more importantly, for you unquestioning support from our start a
few weeks back until the end of the tournament. Without your efforts the players would not be out there
showing us just what this game is all about.
Players and Spectators.
This tournament is for you. Hopefully you have all enjoyed participating and supporting the best of Women’s
Baseball in Australia. Thank you and hopefully see you back in 2014.
