Control Discharge Toilet System

About CDTSControlled discharge toilet units are fitted to avoid soiling of track in station and inhabited areas. Waste is stored into an immediate tank, which is closed off by microprocessor-controlled slide valves. The slide valve for waste tank outlet opens automatically at speeds above 30 km/h. The toilet units are fitted with button operated flush valves that flush with water, which is pressurized using compressed air. The tanks have a capacity of storage of material for 15 flushes and must be emptied before use.

AIR BRAKE SYSTEM

1. In Air Brake system compressed air is used for operating the brake system. 2. The locomotive compressor charges the feed pipe and the brake pipes throughout the length of the train. 3. The feed pipe is connected to the auxiliary reservoirs and the brake pipe is connected to the brake cylinders through the distributor valve. 4. Brake application takes place by dropping the pressure in the brake pipe.

LHB COACH

LHB stands for LINKE HOFMANN BUSCH. It is a railway Coach Manufacturing unit Situated at Germany.The coaches manufactured by LHB/Germany are called LHB Coaches. These coaches are now being manufactured at RCF Kapurthala after getting the transfer of technology from GERMANY.

Page 17: rcf training

Why LHB Coaches?Indian Railways have been transporting passenger traffic mainly

through coaches of ICF design.These type of coaches are having limitations in terms of

Speed potential;Heavy corrosion;Poor riding comfort;Wearing of parts in the under gear;

To overcome these limitations, Indian Railways entered into supply and technology transfer contracts with M/s. ALSTOM LHB/Germany to initially supply 24 coaches.
