For Action: 5-19-15 SUPERINTENDENT’S RECOMMENDATION: Travel requests summarized in Exhibit 13A be approved with the understanding that amounts listed are maximum. BACKGROUND: Current travel requests according to major fund source are listed in Exhibit 13A. These requests are submitted for approval in accordance with Board Procedure 6213 (Active Procedure 7250.1) and include all estimated travel costs except for conference registration fees. The budgeted and year-to-date expenditure figures are listed at the bottom of the exhibit. ATTACHMENT: Exhibit 13A

14 Facilities/Operations - Jack McLeod Agenda Item 14.1 Additional Architectural and Engineer Services – Old Newport Heights – Jing Mei Project

For Action: 5/19/2015 SUPERINTENDENT’S RECOMMENDATION: That the additional compensation for architectural and engineering services for the Old Newport Heights – Jing Mei tenant improvement project be approved in the additive amount of $54,587 with Sierra Martin Architects. BACKGROUND: On September 2, 2014 an Architectural Services Contract was awarded to Sierra Martin Architects for Phases 1 and 2 for the design, permitting, bidding and contract administration for the Old Newport Heights – Jing Mei tenant improvement project. This added fee was necessitated by City of Bellevue and the District for addition services not included in the architectural base contract. These services included: District request for the design of a point of contact security system; City requiring additional civil design services including off-site storm drainage reporting, turbidity monitoring/reporting and SWPPP report; printing and reimburseable expenses have exceeded the original $5000 allocation; District request for additional painting inspection services; and, District request for additional design services to accommodate the location of seven early learning classrooms that were not in the original scope of work for this project. For Action: 05/19/2015 SUPERINTENDENT’S RECOMMENDATION: That a contract in the total amount of $32,383,000.00, including base bid and alternates, be awarded to SpeeWest Construction for the Enatai Elementary School Replacement Project. BACKGROUND: On April 30, 2015, sealed bids were opened for the Enatai Elementary School project. There were five (5) responsive bidders (see Exhibit 14A). SpeeWest was the low bidder at $32,383,000.00. The accounting for the complete projects is as follows:

For Action: 5.19.15 SUPERINTENDENT’S RECOMMENDATION: Extended field trips listed in the Board Packet be approved with the understanding that amounts listed are maximum. 44B.1.1

Newport High School to Randle, WA A request has been received from Meagan Mangum, teacher at Newport High School, to travel with approximately 230 students from Newport High School on September 5, 2015 to September 7, 2015. The objective of this trip is a music retreat- rehearse and learn performance material. Meagan Mangum and approximately 35 chaperones will be accompanying the students. The cost of this trip is approximately $23,958 which includes transportation, housing, meals and registration. All costs to be paid for by families and scholarships. 44B.1.2

Interlake HS to Pullman, WA A request has been received from Tia Thiel, teacher at Interlake High School, to travel with approximately 19 students from Interlake High School on May 29th, 2015 to May 31st, 2015. The objective of this trip is the Imagine Tomorrow Science Competition. Tia Thiel and approximately 2 other chaperones will accompany the students. The cost of this trip is approximately $2,454.11 which includes transportation, housing, and meals. All costs to be paid for by families and from previous year’s winning teams’ matching funds awarded to school. 44B.1.3

International School to Stuttgart, Germany A request has been received from Mike Scott, teacher at International School, to travel with approximately 12 students from International School on April 2, 2016 to April 16, 2016. The objective of this trip is the acquisition and improvement of life skills in a foreign country and inter-cultural awareness. Mike Scott and approximately 1 other chaperone will accompany the students. The cost of this trip is approximately $38,700 which includes transportation, housing, and meals. All costs to be paid for by families, fundraisers and grants. 44B.1.4

Interlake HS to Tacoma, WA A request has been received from David Myers, teacher at Interlake High School, to travel with approximately 70 football students from Interlake High School on July 12, 2015 to July 15, 2015. The objective of this trip is to improve in football and to bond as a team. David Myers and approximately 9 other chaperones will accompany the students. The cost of this trip is approximately $20,950 which includes transportation, housing, and meals. All costs to be paid for by families, booster club, and scholarships. 44B.1.5

Newport High School to Olympia, WA A request has been received from Stephanie Lawrenson, teacher at Newport High School, to travel with approximately 18 students from Newport High School on August 3, 2015 to August 6, 2015. The objective of this trip is cheer camp to focus on technique and leadership. Stephanie Lawrenson and approximately 1 other chaperone will accompany the students. The cost of this trip is approximately $8,350 which includes transportation, registration, housing, and meals. All costs to be paid for by families and boosters. 44B.1.6

Newport High School to Central Washington University, Ellensburg, WA A request has been received from Steve Haizlip, coach at Newport High School, to travel with approximately 10-12 students from Newport High School on June 28, 2015 to July 1, 2015. The objective of this trip is team camp/ bonding/ college campus visit. Steve Haizlip will accompany the students.

The cost of this trip is approximately $3,795 which includes transportation, housing, and meals. All costs to be paid for by families and boosters. 44B.1.7

Date change for Bellevue High School to Fort Worden, WA

Field trip was approved on April 21, 2015 board meeting. Bellevue High School would like to notify Board that dates for the field trip was changed to August 28, 2015 to August 30, 2015. The field trip was initially approved for September 4, 2015 to September 6, 2015. The date change will allow for the water polo camp to occur after fall sports have started but before school has started. The purpose of the trip is for team building, water polo tactics and conditioning.
