HAPPY NEW ROTARY YEAR fellow Rotarians. As this yearly cycle is repeated in Rotary Clubs across the rotary world it signals that start of rotarians looking at new opportunities for us to serve our community. To paraphrase from my acceptance speech, this Rotary year is going to be very challenging. Again, a distinguished member of our club is district governor. Also, we have been called upon to host the district conference. This, along with the many notable projects and programs that we do every year will keep us extremely busy, and also make our lives interesting, but I am certain that with your support we can achieve the lofty goals we have set for ourselves this year.

The first activity we undertook this year was the Joint induction of officers and turnover ceremonies of the Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro and the Rotary Anns of the Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro. It was truly a memorable event. The venue was full with an attendance of an estimated 120 rotarians and guests it was indeed a sight to behold. Kudos of course to our outstanding induction committee co-chaired by PAG Carlo Romero and PP Josy

Alinabon food was good and plentiful and you could see that everyone enjoyed it. the sequence of the parts program was also well planned and was executed very well. Our thanks also goes to our Guest Speaker Ms Ninez Cacho Olivares whose insight to Philippine politics was interestingly unique and at times humorous. And of course the amazing Raffle at the end helped keep the attendees glued to their seats and make the night truly memorable. A complete list of the induction committee will be written in the Kagayanon. My heartfelt thanks to all of you.

Our new board met for the first time officially last Tuesday evening at Sarraga’s residence in Lapasan to tackle the upcoming activities of RCCDO. This was attended by VP Popo Juarez, Sec Sonny Tiro, Treas. Norman Makapugay, Dirs. Neil Que, Dodie Lagrosas, Dante Sudaria, PRO Mike Banos and yours truly, we were able to address some of the more pressing concerns facing RCCDO and also we were able to fill some key committees that we need to run RCCDO well notably Attendance, Programs, Bulletin our thanks also to the Rotarians that volunteered to chair these committees.

Also notable was the acceptance of VP Popo to concurrently become the director of the newly created Youth Services Avenue of service bringing our total number of Avenues to six. Initially this avenue will now handle the New Gen Forum, Youth City Officials, Rotaract and RYLA. This is a big Job and VP Popo definitely will need our support. As i have said before this year promises to be an exciting one. And I encourage you to join RCCDO in Lighting up Rotary.

Treasurer’s Report

Page 4: ROTARY BULLETIN VOLUME LXIX NUMBER 01 7-2-2014

Last July 1, 2014, the Board of Directors (BOD) of RCCDO held their first meeting for RY 2014-15 at the Sarraga’s Residence in Lapasan. The meeting was presided by President Luigi Sarraga and attended by Director Neil Que (Membership), AG & Director Dodie Lagrosas (Service Projects), Director Dante Sudaria (TRF), VP Popo Juarez, Treasurer Norman Makapugay, Past Treasurer Julius Dulfo, PRO Mike Banos and Secretary Sonny Tiro.

The main areas of concern that were discussed during the meeting were the following:

President Luigi announced that the regular BOD Meetings would be held every first Tuesday of the month.

• However, It was agreed that for the first three months the BOD may need to meet more than once a month.

Turnover and change in signatories of club financial & organizational documents

• AG Dodie forwarded a motion to issue a board resolution assigning the signatories for the club for RY 2014-15. The motion was agreed on unanimously.

• Past Treas. Julius and Treas. Norman

agreed to discuss the turnover on July 2, 2014 at Sterling Bank. It was agreed that club Auditor Sammy Blanco will audit all the financial reports prior to the formal turnover.

Club weekly meeting venue

• The group was informed by Director & PP Paul Ferrer (who was absent due to health reasons) thru Sec. Sonny that SEDA was definitely out as it was clear that they did not want our business.

• Initial negotiations with VIP Hotel were positive but no facilities were available for RCCDO on July 3rd and the meal cost had also increased to P275-P325.

• Initial discussions with Mallberry Suites were also positive but the meal has to be negotiated down from P400/pax.

• Kagay-Anon Restaurant was offered by VP Popo as a possible venue with Buffet Lunch costing P300/pax. The location at KetKai Mall also offered ample parking space for attendees.

• Sec. Sonny proposed a motion to issue a Board Resolution to hold the Club Weekly Meeting on July 3, 2014 at Kagay-Anon so that the club members may evaluate the viability of permanently holding our weekly meetings there. The motion was carried unanimously.

• PRO Mike volunteered to contact the members of the Cagayan de Oro Hotel and Restaurant Association (COHARA) and ask their members to bid for our meeting venue. We need to emphasize that we offer a yearly commitment for a weekly lunch meeting during a slow day (Thursday) for at least 30 pax.
