Rest in Peace: Please pray for the souls of Mary
Watson, mother of Barbara Fields and Patti E. Hughes,
mother of Kelly Martin. May God grant them eternal
peace.
Dear parishioners,
The joy that came from seeing you all at Mass this last
weekend, and the two weeks of daily Mass, is simply
indescribable! Being able to celebrate Mass with you all
always has been, and will always be, a great source of joy
for me as your pastor. And of course the look of joy and
relief on your faces when you got to receive the Eucharist
does my priestly heart good, and I’m so happy you all can
be fed with the Bread of Life again! This has been a very
weird and trying time for so many people, and the faith
that we have in Our Lord has been, I’m sure, questioned as
we see everything unravel. However Our Lord is constant
in His promises and one of the last things He promised was
that He will be with us always, even until the end of the
age. So until that time comes, we know that Jesus is with us
and constantly watching over us and protecting us from
every moral and physical evil. As life begins to resume
some form of normalcy, it’s important to let our faith life
resume some normalcy as well, and possibly even trying to
deepen it. This Sunday is Pentecost, and it’s by the fire of
the Holy Spirit that our fears, our laziness, our
lukewarmness are burned away with the fire of the Spirit’s
love. We will be celebrating the sacraments of initiation this
Sunday, and I’m so excited to see the Holy Spirit come
down on our candidates and catechumens, the very same
Spirit that came down on the apostles in the upper room so
many years ago. How exciting! So let’s be sure to pray for
them as they receive this great gift, and let’s also renew our
own vows that we made at our baptism and confirmation,
namely, to despise what is evil and to love God and our
neighbor.
Switching gears just a little bit, I thought I’d let you all
know how last weekend went. We had 50 people at the
Saturday Vigil Mass, 60 people at the 8 AM, 80 people at
the 9:30 AM in Newkirk, 30 people at the 11 AM, 50
people at the 1 PM Spanish Mass, and 35 people at the 7
PM Mass. So in all, we had 225 people attend Mass at St.
Mary’s, and 80 attend Mass at St. Francis. Our average
Sunday attendance at St. Mary’s is around 600-620, so we
were operating at about 37% of our normal Sunday Mass
attendance. St. Francis averages around 100-120 on any
given Sunday, so St. Francis was at 72% attendance. We
still need to keep our numbers low, so please continue to
think about coming to a daily Mass rather than a weekend
Mass, for the time being, to help spread the population out
a little bit so we can keep up social distancing.
I wanted to congratulate St. Francis on making their goal
for the ACA! Good job guys! St. Francis had a pledge goal
of $7,000.00 and they ended up donating $8,705.00
which is $1,705.00 over goal, and 124.36% of their pledge
goal. 28 donors made this possible. Great job everyone! St.
Mary’s has a pledge goal of $96,000.00 and as of May
22nd
St. Mary’s has collected $92,375.00, which is just
$3,625.00 away from their goal and 96.22% of their goal.
187 donors have contributed thus far! Good job to St.
Mary’s! We are so close to making our goal!
I also wanted to say thank you to everyone who continued
to donate over the two month hiatus from public Mass.
Your contributions were so appreciated and it allowed
both churches to continue running with no interruptions in
our daily life. I’m so proud of all of my parishioners for
stepping up and continuing your donations. Thank you so
much!
Ok I think that’s about it! Know that you’re in my prayers,
and I hope you all have a great week! God bless!

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS Election of Officers Meeting!

All Knights participation is very much appreciated.
Sincerely, Ross Neely, Grand Knight
Annual Guild Luncheon has been officially
cancelled. After officers and program chairman
deliberated, it was decided to cancel the St. Patrick’s Day
Luncheon rather than reschedule it due to the pandemic of
Covid-19. We want to thank all our supporters for your
support throughout the years. Since the luncheon is the
only source of revenue for our charities that we serve,
which include NERA, Hospice of North Central
Oklahoma, Child Development Center and many others,
we are asking those who have already purchased a ticket
to consider donating the $10 luncheon fee so we may
continue to help these charities. We are especially
considering NERA at this time in need in our community.
If you wish a refund, please contact Pat Sipe at 589-762-
3223. We thank you for your consideration in this matter.
St. Francis Guild Officers and Chairman.
