Best Technical Campus in Delhi NCR by Education Expo TV
Samalkha Group of Institutions (SGI) has
been awarded by the research team and man-
agement of Education Expo TV with the
award of Best technical campus in Delhi
NCR. The name of the event in which they
gave this award is South Asian Academy
award – 2012. The aim behind the South
Asian Academy awards is to celebrate the suc-
cesses and achievements in educational field
of South Asia, Mainly India.
Samalkha Group of Institutions is one which qualify for Management
(Best Institution & Best Placement), Engineering (Best Technical Infra-
structure & Best Placement) & special awards (Best industry interaction &
Global Exposure) category.
Education Expo TV is the India’s largest and still expanding Education
Branding and Research Company. The Research and Branding solutions
have an impact on more than 0.5 million decision makers spanning from
the industry, professional, academician to students. Education Expo TV is

Students of Samalkha Group of Institutions participated in the
well known show „Gadget Guru Conclave & Awards‟ 2012 on
12th March 2012 at Kingdom Of Dreams, Gurgaon. The
Gadget Guru Awards are the biggest the country has seen in the
field of Consumer Electronics, Gadgets and Technology and
provide a unique opportunity for experts from the industry to
ideate, discuss and analyze latest trends. The event was hosted
by NDTV's Tech Gurus Rajiv Makhni and Vikram Chandra,
the duo behind the flagship tech show Gadget Guru, brought
the latest technology related news and reviews to the consumers.
The star studded event was attended by Kapil Sibal, Honourable
Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Rishi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Jacquline
Fernandes, Asin and Sajid Khan and Gul Panag amongst others.
The Program was coordinated by enthusiastic students of SGI, Sonu Kumar Jha, Aditya Bali, Nikhil,
Dheeraj, Prince and Sarthak, under the guidance of Mr. Vikas Nain, Faculty in Management Depart-
ment.
Samalkha Group of Institutions organized a presentation at Campus
by Mr. Gaurav Mendiratta on 16th March 2012. The presentation fo-
cused on “First orkut, Now Facebook… What’s next? Learn the latest
in Social Media!” Gaurav Mendiratta is a seasoned technology profes-
sional with experience in Internet Applications, Marketing and online
Video. Prior to starting AKG Technologies Inc.(The parent company of socio square) he was working
with a major cable and internet service provider of US for over 4 years. In this short span, Gaurav has
risen to the position of principal engineer at the office of the CTO. In his work, he has led several suc-
cessful projects and products of their inception to a nationwide deployment. Gaurav also worked with

the Asian Plastic Company, India where he led a team of 7 people who designed a circuit of a transducer,
currently being used by the India Railways. Mr. Gaurav Mendiratta holds masters in telecommunications &
networking in Electronics and Communications, from University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Engi-
neering in Electronics and Communications, from Barkatullah, Bhopal, India.
During his presentation he told about Social Media. Social media is a phrase being tossed around a lot these
days, but it can sometimes be difficult to answer the question of what is social media. Is it social network-
ing? Is it social bookmarking? Is it wiki? After that Mr. Mendiratta gave his views on following contents.
All the faculty members in Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Management, Teaching Support Staff, Techni-
cal and Library Staff attended the Seminar. Complete Programme was coordinated by Mr. Vikas Nain and
Ms. Preeti Dhingra, Assistant Professors, Faculty of Management with taking the help of four student coor-
dinators.
A Technical Fest-“NASET 2012” was organized at Electronics Science Department, Kurukshetra Univer-sity,on March 16-17, 2012.National level Symposium on Electronics Technology [NASET] is a National Level Technical Event focused on the fields of Electronics and Computer Science & Engineering. The fest promised to be a complete experience for learning, innovation and out of box thinking in an entertaining way.In that Fest there were following Categories- Paper Presentation, Quiz, Hardware Representation and Poster Making. Students of various colleges participated in the Technical Fest. Some Students of our Col-lege -Samalkha Group Of Institutions(SGI), Samalkha also Participated in the Technical Fest in the event named –“Hardware Representation”-Name of the students are -MohitChhabra, Avinash Kumar, Varun Ojha, Raghvendra Mani Yadav, Manu Dipesh, Harmeet Singh. They made “Bomb Squad Robot” and “Waste Sorting Machine”. Among them Mohit & Varun Secured 3rd position in the “Bomb Squad Ro-bot”. But among self financed Institutiuons the position was 1st. The Robot was designed to Save the life of human being, animals etc. from the man made disasters . Our robots is that one which saves human life for this kind of attacks . It detects many bombs and under ground blast mines, So that our army works regulary and moves forward consistently . Pure robot works in any conditions and in any weather .
The Robot was made at ERDC SGI under the guidance of Ms. Priyanka Sharma and Ms. Preetika Bhasin Research associate at ERDC.

Presentation on “To lend valuable information & knowledge on TEAM WORK” By Mr. Aashish Khanna
Samalkha Group of Institutions organized a presentation at Cam-
pus by Mr. Aashish Khanna on 17th March 2012. The presenta-
tion focused on “To lend valuable information & knowledge on
TEAM WORK” Mr. Aashish Khanna is a bachelor of Manage-
ment Science along with Master of Management Science pro-
gramme in Marketing. He has an experience of Sales & Market-
ing professional with over 13 years of working in various industry segments which include infor-
mation technology, Internet services, corporate trainings and Telecom. Currently he is working
with Nokia India Pvt. Ltd., as Head of Customer Marketing, Location and Commerce Vertical.
He created a PAN India sales network with all the mobile service operators for handset building.
He also increased the distributor count by 50% by acquiring new distributors and penetrating the
market. He got multifold increase in volumes of handsets sold and revenue generated.
During his presentation he told about Team Work. Teamwork is an action performed by a team
towards a common goal. A team consists of more than one person, each of whom typically has
different responsibilities. A team also includes seven common elements: 1. Common Purpose; 2.
Interdependence; 3. Clear Roles and Contributions; 4. Satisfaction from Mutual Working; 5. Mu-
tual and Individual Accountability; 6. Realization of Synergies; and 7. Empowerment. The Semi-
nar was very interactive and Excellent.
All the faculty members in Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Management, Teaching Support
Staff, Technical and Library Staff attended the Seminar. Complete Programme was coordinated
of Faculty of Engineering. This visit was organized by Electrical & Electronics Engg. Deptt.
SGI team presented a memento as a token of thanks to the management of the company. The Sr.
Manager of the company appreciated the interest of students and faculty and the steps being taken
by the SGI management to enhance industry exposure amongst their students. The students were
also told about the scope and opportunities in the industry. The students were very happy with the
exposure and awareness gained through this visit.The visit was well organized and coordinated by
the students of EEE 6th sem Gurudayal & Anil Kumar Thakur and Ajay Verma & Puneet Khurana
of EEE 4th Sem along with two faculty members Mr. Sager Bhasle & Hemant Chugh under the
guidance and support of the Head of the Department of EEE Mr. Vijayendra Kumar.

Students of SGI participated in “National Robotics Challenge” at
SBIT
by Mr. Navneet Jindal and Ms. Anupam Mann, Assistant Professors in Faculty of Engineering
with taking the help of four student coordinators Prerna Bhasin CSE 2nd Semester, Aditya Bali
MBA 4th Semester, Kirti Batra CSE 4th Semester and Dheeraj Kumar BBA / 4th Semester.
A “National Robotics Challenge”was organized at
SBIT, Sonipat on 22nd March 2012. NRC was or-
ganized by Building Blocks, in collabora-
tion with IEEE student branch, Computer Society
of India (CSI) student chapter and Indian Society
f o r T e c h n i c a l E d u c a t i o n ( I S T E )
student branch and sponsored by HCL. NRC is an
Indian Premier Robotics Competition that brings
the genius under one roof. The competition was di-
vided into three main cadre - Robo Race, Robo War
and Line Follower. More than 100 students from various colleges participated in this Competi-
tion. Students of our College, Samalkha Group Of Institutions(SGI) also participated in this Com-
petition. Varun Ojha(1st Year ECE), and Mohit Chhabra (1st Year ECE) participated in the Event-
“Robo Race”. They Secured 3rd Position. It is a Great Achievement for our college. The robot de-
signed was a pick and place robot that can pick the balls and drop them in a bucket, the robot
made by SGi students was unique in design because no other robot was there to pick the balls.
Students of SGI were guided by the engineers ERDC Ms. Preetika and Ms. Priyanka for making
robots. Also students are working very hard for achieving their goals. This type of activities help
students to shape their career.
The Training and Placement cell of Samalkha Group of Institu-
tions (SGI) has organized Open Campus Placement Drive for
placement for iYogi and VoiceFone to hire Graduates (BA/B.
Com. /BCA etc.) & MBA students on 23rd March 2012.
More than 300 candidates from several Institute/colleges in Pun-
jab, Haryana, Delhi, Rajasthan, Himachal and Chandigarh regis-
tered for interviews on both days. The selection process con-
sisted of Pre Placement Talks, Written Tests, Data Interpretation
and then HR talks. The selected candidates have been offered packages ranging between 2.5 to
4.3 Lacs/Annum. The candidates were hosted very well and all the arrangements for the basic re-
quirements were taken care by the institute’s management. Students of the SGI have also taken
active participation in the fair to manage the event. The event was Coordinated by Mr. Vishal
Doora, TPO at SGI campus with students Sudhir (EEE-1st Year), Amit (ME-1st Year ) and Vikas (ME 2nd year).

WORKSHOP ON ROBOTICS BY TECHTRONICS
A Robotics Workshop was held on 24th March 2012
in Samalkha Group of Institutions by Techtronics. Techtronics Education (India) Limited has been a
pioneer in promotion of 'learning by doing" concept
and has established itself as a leading importer and
distributor of Robotics development platforms and
hands on learning aids. Techtronics Education
(India) Limited is exclusive distributor with LEGO
Education and PITSCO for their entire range of
products in India.
The workshop was an initiative to enhance practical knowledge among the students and the fac-
ulty members. Robotics helps us to open our minds and enhance our creativity as it covers every
branch of Science and Engineering –Mechanical, Electronics, Computer Science etc. This work-
shop was on the basics of robotics. The participants were taught how to build and operate simple
manual robots during the course of the workshop.It was attended by our Embedded Research &
Development Center members -Ms. Priyanka Sharma, Ms. Preetika Bhasin & Mr. Ashwani Dhi-
man(Head of ERDC ), also by other faculty members- Ms Ritu Pahal, Ms Priyanka Saluja, ,Mr.
Anil Sharma, Mr. Ashish Dawar, Mr. Dinesh Jain, Mr. Gaurav Bhatia & by some students of our
college- Varun Ojha, Mohit Chhabra, Manu Dipesh , Harmeet.
Students of Samalkha Group of Institutions, Samalkha par-
ticipated in the Inter – college Technical Fest “TECHNO
SPARK 12” organized by BITS (Bharat Institute of Tech-
nology, Sonepat) on 26th & 27th March 2012. Vijay Dagar,
Dheeraj Ghalayan, Ashish Tawar, Dheeraj Kumar, Pri-
yanka, Neetu, Jatin, Rohit, Arvind, Vicky and Harish, Stu-
dents of Samalkha Group of Institutions have been
awarded 1st Prize for Best Team in SKIT Competition .
The skit was on the theme entitled “Female Feticide and
Trafficking among Women, as Socio-economic empower-
ment of women is essential for making informed decisions and for change of the mind sets. The
tale of the play revealed dark secrets of the Indian society-female infanticide in outstandingly
thought provoking way. The theme of play is set on the angle of those unborn babies and their
imaginative perspective. The unborn children have their own world where they all share their sto-
ries, sorrows and dreams which could not be fulfilled. Female feticide is a scary truth of India.
This sick and gruesome practice still exists in few rural places of India like Rajasthan & Madhya
Pradesh. There were many colleges participated in the competition. Vijay Dagar student of
Samalkha Group of Institutions has been awarded 1st Prize for the Stand up Comedy. Students of

Samalkha Group of Institutions have been awarded 2nd Prize for Retro dance in the Inter – college
Technical Fest “TECHNO SPARK 12”.
The Program was coordinated by Vijay Dagar student of M.Tech under the valuable guidance of
Ms. Preeti Dingra, Asst. Professor.
The Training and Placement cell of Samalkha Group of

process consisted of Pre-Placement Talks, Written Tests,

students Rahul Kaushik (CSE 3rd Year), Gaurav Goel (CSE 1st year), Prerna Bhasin (CSE 1st
year), Priyanka (BBA- 1st year), Sudhir (EEE-1st Year), Amit (ME-1st Year) and Vikas (ME 2nd
year).

Final decision was depend upon research and marketing team. Firstly, research team shortlisted
20 applications out of 1000 nominations, which qualified for the awards.
Sh. Ajay Goyal, Chairman, SGI got this opportunity to attend the event along with Prof. (Dr.) Ra-
jesh Goel, Director, SGI. The Prestigious award was received by Sh. Ajay Goyal from the Chief
Guest Hon’ble Sh. Shashi Tharoor, Member Parliament and former Minister of State for External
Affairs. All the members of SGI family were highly motivated and encouraged by getting this
award.
