The PCR Mycoplasma test kit is designed to detect the presence ofmycoplasma contaminating biological materials, in for example cultured cells.
Mycoplasma detection by the direct culture procedure istime-consuming and some mycoplasma species aredifficult to cultivate. PCR testing gives results within a fewhours, since the presence ofcontaminant mycoplasma can beeasily detected simply by verifyingthe bands of amplified DNAfragments in electrophoresis. Thereis no need to prepare probeslabelled with radioisotopes, or tocalculate enzyme, dNTP’s or bufferconcentrations. Instead, a ready-to-use, optimised PCR mix issupplied.
The primer set allows detection ofvarious mycoplasma species (M. fermentans, M. hyorhinis, M.arginini, M. orale, M. salivarium,M. hominis, M. pulmonis, M.arthritidis, M. bovis, M. pneumoniae, M. pirum and M. capricolum), as well asAcholeplasma and Spiroplasma species, with high sensitivity and specificity.
