I know I am constantly in need of spiritual guidance nowadays. I think perhaps this is a relevant message for me, for us, to put our faith in Jesus the leader of our flock and to turn to Him, to fill our hearts with His teachings, to listen to His word and answer Him when He calls. We will not be lost then, but will be safe and sound. Cynthia White (PLT)

REFLECTION What stands out strongly for me in today’s Gospel, is the line that says

‘Jesus had compassion on the people who were following him and his apostles. He took pity on them: on their state of being like lost sheep, shepherd less.’ He put aside all His tiredness and tended to them, reaching out to them, fulfilling the spiritual need in them, to fill their

hearts with His teachings.

We are in exactly the same position two thousand odd years later: we are

floundering like a lost flock in a world full of so many varied and

controversial beliefs and opinions and we don’t quite know what to think

of it all. I know I am constantly in need of spiritual guidance nowadays.

I think perhaps this is a relevant message for me, for us, to put our faith in Jesus the leader of

our flock and to turn to Him, to fill our hearts with His teachings, to listen to His word and answer

Him when He calls. We will not be lost then, but will be safe and sound. Cynthia White (PLT)

FIRST EUCHARIST: Preparation will commence Third Term for the this sacrament as a communal effort - family, parish, school. Parents have the greatest influence over their children and are the first and most important educators in the ways of faith. Schools have an important role to play in supporting parents in the faith education of their children. The resources we will be using for this programme is called “Becoming Catholic-Eucharist”. It is a colourful and practical workbook that is useful for both children & parents. Therefore, the core idea of this would be the conversation between parents and children. I would encourage parents to spend this precious moment especially during the course of their preparation process. Details will follow in the next couple of weeks. If any of your children wish to receive this Sacrament please call the Church office (9557 1165) or come to our meeting on Wednesday, 22nd July at 6.45pm. Thank you Matilde.

THE BELLS OF ST. PAUL’S: We thank Parishioners for the positive response we have had in relation to the Appeal for the repair of the bells. As the repairs will be a very expensive endeavour we are appealing to parishioners for help. Donation forms are in the boxes at the doors. We would be very grateful of any assistance, big or small. St. Peter’s School: Woolworths Earn & Learn is back and it is now easier than ever to earn valuable resources for your local primary school, secondary school or Early Learning Centre. Last year more than 14,500 schools and Early Learning Centres benefited from the program, boosting supplies in classrooms, libraries, music rooms, gymnasiums and science labs. It's simple to participate. From Wed, 15th July to Tues, 8th Sept. 2015, when you shop at Woolworths you can collect Woolworths Earn & Learn Stickers from the checkout operator or through an online order and place them on a Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker Sheet. There will be one Woolworths Earn & Learn Sticker for every $10 spent (excluding liquor, tobacco, and gift cards). Once completed, simply bring the completed Sticker Sheet to the School Office or just send your stickers in to be placed in the Collection Box. St. Peter's also has a Collection Box with our name on it at the Links Woolworths on the corner Warrigal & Centre Roads, Oakleigh South, so stickers can be put directly into our box as you are leaving the store.

Parish Visiting We ask parishioners to please let us know of anyone who would like a visit and/or communion at home or in a local aged care facility. We are relying on your response to keep us informed of those who need our care. Please let PA know at mass or office week days.

GOSPEL: Mark 6: 30-34

The apostles rejoined Jesus and told him all they had done and

taught. Then he said to them, ‘You must come away to some lonely

place all by yourselves and rest for a while’; for there were so many

coming and going that the apostles had no time even to eat. So they

went off in a boat to a lonely place where they could be by

themselves. But people saw them going, and many could guess where;

and from every town they all hurried to the place on foot and

reached it before them. So as he stepped ashore he saw a large

crowd; and he took pity on them because they were like sheep

without a shepherd, and he set himself to teach them at some

length.
