MESSAGES FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents,

Maria Churack and Diane Verson attended a 2 day course on making Wellbeing visitable in our school. The PD included latest data, research and strategies in assisting our students and ourselves as adults to rethink and understand more deeply about our approaches that promote wellbeing.

Wellbeing is the combination of a person’s mental, emotional, physical and social health. At St Anthony’s we foster a firm belief that everyone belongs and that everyone has something valuable to contribute. To promote this culture, we are undertaking a Wellness Week focus in week 5.

Throughout the week we will be involved in daily mindfulness relections, physical activities, buddy time and making a mindfulness jar.

Wednesday is Casual Wednesday where the children, staff and parents are encouraged to wear a bright top to symbolise happiness throughout the school. There will also be a coffee van available from 7.45am for parents and staff to enjoy.

To end our Wellness Week we will gather together to celebrate Grandparents Mass.

Please be aware that staff will be involved in Wellness activities after school hours for next week.

Once again a note will be going home asking for some specific donations for the various stalls from the school community.

There will be all our usual stalls with some new ones to delight the children and our favourite ‘glow products’ will be back and much, much more so please come along and join in the fun.

CLASSES FOR 2020

Over the next few weeks the staff will commence the process of planning for 2020. The current class teachers have the initial responsibility of splitting the classes for the following year. The class teachers know the children best and have seen how the students interact with others, both in the classroom and playground. The teachers consider the social groups of each child and take these into account when determining class composition. This is achieved in collaboration with the other year level teacher. Teachers divide each class of children into two even groups with approximately the same number of each gender in each group and mixed ability levels.

2020 ENROLMENTS As the school undertakes the enormous process of preparation for the upcoming school year, it is important that we are aware of possible movements both in and out of the school community. The end of any school year is a busy time for many families in so far as transfers due to work or other personal circumstances. With position vacancies in some year levels quickly being filled and with waiting lists already resulting for particular areas of the school, it is essential that we are made aware as soon as is practicable of either new enrolments or of families who may be transferring.

SCHOOL CAR PARK

Parents, Grandparents and Carers are reminded that the school car park is “One Way ONLY”. Please ensure that you follow the direction of the painted arrows in the car park and abide by the “No Entry” signage. If we all work together this will ensure that the car park will run smoothly and safely for all families. We would like to remind families that the “Pick up and Drop Off Zone Only” area is a drive through area and parents should NOT park or leave their vehicles unattended in this area. Parents are also reminded that it is unsafe to let children out the car in the “Pick up & Drop off Drive Lane”. Children should NOT be allowed to exit vehicles in this area at any time. Please also note that it is a NO PARKING ZONE in the driveway areas – please refer to the diagram below which have the NO PARKING areas highlighted. By eliminating the parking in these areas, this should help with the flow of the traffic especially in the afternoons at pick up time.

2020 BOOK LISTS – Chair Bags and Homework Bags

An email with links for the children’s book lists for 2020 was sent home on the 28th October 2019. Booklists are also available to view on the school website: https://www.stanthonysgreen.wa.edu.au/parent-information/ If your child requires a Chair Bag or Homework Bag for 2020 they will not be available to purchase until the beginning of Term 1, 2020. If you need to purchase a replacement Chair Bag or Homework Bag for your child for 2020, please contact the office with your details and we will advise you when they arrive.

RE CORNER with Mrs Potts & Ms Vranjes

ST VINCENT DE PAUL HAMPERS

As we approach the end of the year, we turn our thoughts to those in need. Calling upon your generosity, we are asking for donations for our annual St Vincent de Paul appeal. This Catholic organisation provides hampers to families who would otherwise go without, the most vulnerable in our society. Class teachers are currently sending home notes and we are asking each child to bring in an item to create a food hamper. Over the next week check your child’s homework folder for a note outlining a specific request. Please send your item by the 29th of November. Thank you for your support in helping those in need.

PARISH FETE

Salvatorian Fathers St. Anthony’s Parish Greenmount, W.A. Dear Parents and Students, On Sunday, November 17th, we will be holding our annual Parish Fete/Bargain Bazaar commencing after the 9.00am Family Mass, i.e. 10.00am until 1.00pm. The Fete is the only major fundraiser for the Parish and it desperately relies on the proceeds to help out financially with many things required in and around the Church and School. This is a very important event in our Community calendar where the School and Parish can work together as one. We hope you will all endeavour to once again give your very generous support. Once again we are asking for help in the way of small donations from the school community. Each class group will be asked to bring along particular items (see below) and it would be appreciated if each family could donate. Those families with more than one child at St. Anthony’s, need only choose one of the items to donate. Listed below are the classes and items required ….. Kindy classes Lollies for Lolly Stall Pre-Primary Novelty gifts ($3 - $7) for Chocolate Wheel (children’s toys) eg. Matchbox

car packs, little ponys’ items, hair accessories, stationery, sports kits, balls, assorted toys, gardening, etc.

Years 1, 2 & 3 Filled Bottles or Jars for Bottle Stall i.e. jams, chutneys, fruit, sauces, etc. plus… novelty items such as small toys, hair bits, pencils, etc (no lollies) Years 4,5,6 CAKES for Cake Stall - to be bought along on the Classes day before or the morning of the Fete. It would be appreciated if the above items, other than the cakes, could be sent along to school anytime before but no later than Wednesday November 13h, 2019.

Once again we cannot stress how important it is for your continued support towards our Parish so hopefully together we can make this a very profitable event.

Many thanks for your help and co-operation.

St. Anthony’s Parish Fete Committee.
