Break Open the Tomb

Lord of Easter’s Promise, I live in faith of the Resurrection, but such is the nature of my faith that so much of me remains entombed. Break open the tomb. Where I’ve buried my compassion, break open the tomb. Where I’ve buried my sense of mercy, break open the tomb. Where I’ve buried my humility, break open the tomb. Where I’ve buried my humanity, break open the tomb. Where I’ve buried my love for my Heavenly Father, break open the tomb. Where I’ve buried my sense of joy, break open the tomb. Where I’ve buried my willingness to forgive, break open the tomb. Lord, in you I’ve found a Savior no grave can withstand. Help me to roll away this stone and find the miracle of new life. That I may live more fully in your saving grace. Amen

Dear Parishioners of Saint Francis Xavier, A blessed and joyous Easter to you and your families! A few quick updates on things going on around the parish. -We are hiring for three positions in the next few weeks. The Preschool Director position has been posted for a month and we have several strong candidates. We're about to post for two additional positions, Director of Evangelization who will oversee our efforts to invite all of Payne County to join the Catholic Church. This individual will plan events and help you and your families come to know Jesus Christ in a new and exciting way. The other position is a bilingual office assistant. Our Spanish speaking population continues to grow and our office is a busy place. Job descriptions for both positions will be available this week. -On Tuesday we closed on the sale of the Saint Francis Xavier classroom building and the land adjacent to it. This has been in the works since the fall. The new owner of the building is zoning it as an office building and already has three tenets. The new building will be called Xavier Plaza. -Discussions are underway of what to do with the Saint Francis Xavier church at 6th and West. Thanks for your patience as we explore numerous options including selling and also keeping it in within the parish for future use in ministry. We have funding to keep the building as is for the next 12 months. For insurance and maintenance, it's about $50,000 a year. -Representatives from Catholic Charities of Eastern Oklahoma were in town last month and will return next week to explore options to expand our outreach to the poor and vulnerable. Please pray that these efforts come to fruition! -Several areas of the building are still under construction. Thanks for your patience. We're most excited to get the Adoration Chapel finished and in use. The punch list is a long one but it's getting shorter every day. -Finally, we are working on parking! We are expanding both handicap parking on the Country Club side of the building and also we're saving spaces for those with mobility issues but who do not qualify for a handicap placard. We're also looking to expand parking for everyone. It is our first priority! St. Francis Xavier, pray for us! Fr. O'Brien
