The achievement of sustainable steam system improvements can be realized through long term effective management of the steam resource and the tailoring of system improvements and component upgrades to achieve the lowest overall cost of ownership. As a first step in the process, Novaspect proposes to partner with your facility in the on-going management of your steam trap population. Our experienced testing crews will perform an initial survey of your trap population using TLV’s TrapMan steam trap management tool. The TrapMan is the only testing device certified by Lloyd’s Register to the ISO 7841 standard that makes an objective judgment of steam trap operation based on known data. Together, we will create a data base of condensate drainage points and begin to build a sustainable steam trap management system. We will work with you to map, number, tag and test the trap population; documenting trap performance and quantified savings opportunities. We will identify cold traps, allowing you to reduce the risk of damage caused by freezing and report low temperature traps that may indicate process improvement opportunities through complete condensate drainage. At the conclusion of the survey, you will receive a suite of TLV TrapManager reports as PDF documents and a copy of your survey data in Excel format. For the second and subsequent surveys we will also provide a historical Inspection History report to identify repeat failures, indicating the need for further evaluation of the specific application. Ten years of steam trap survey data indicates that of your total trap population: 59.8% are functioning correctly 2.4% are blowing at an annual loss of $1,835.19 per trap 11.1% are leaking at an annual loss of $495.52 per trap 16.7% are out of service 4.9% have a low temperature reading, indicating sub-cooled condensate 4.7% are blocked 0.4% are failed due to other miscellaneous causes Effective, accurate management of the steam trap population pays dividends through reduced steam consumption, lower utility costs and improved process efficiency, control and throughput; every steam dollar saved contributes directly to company profitability. Increased system safety and reliability is realized through the elimination of leak and / or freeze caused piping issues.

Ten years of steam trap survey data indicates that of your total trap population:• 59.8% are functioning correctly • 2.4% are blowing at an annual loss of $1,835.19 per trap• 11.1% are leaking at an annual loss of $495.52 per trap• 16.7% are out of service• 4.9% have a low temperature reading, indicating sub-cooled

condensate• 4.7% are blocked• 0.4% are failed due to other miscellaneous causes

Effective, accurate management of the steam trap population pays dividends through reduced steam consumption, lower utility costs and improved process efficiency, control and throughput; every steam dollar saved contributes directly to company profitability. Increased system safety and reliability is realized through the elimination of leak and / or freeze caused piping issues.
