Camso (formerly Camo-plast Solideal) announces a totally new day for its rela-tionships with its Construc-tion customers because they believe in selling more than a product and a price tag. They share knowledge.

Camso’s approach is simple: in a market com-posed of a series of niche markets, dealers need to understand the many as-pects of a tire or track sys-tem. “Otherwise, providing the Lowest Operating Cost Solutions (LOCS) is just not possible. This is why we developed our knowledge transfer system,” says Bob Bulger, Vice President and General Manager – Con-struction.

Camso launched its new name and corporate identi-ty this past July. Five years after the merger of Camo-plast and Solideal, the company felt it was time to bring it under one promise: the Road Free Company. “Camso puts 100% of its effort on 11% of the global tire and track market: the

off-the-road market,” Bulg-er adds.

The Camso Suite of Knowledge Transfer Tools

At the end of the day, Camso gives its knowledge to dealers to benefit end us-ers. The system has three components:• Camso.co – The compa-

ny’s new website, show-ing the most complete product selector in the OTR industry, combin-ing tires, tracks and track systems;

• Camso Learning intel-ligence (Li) – An online training centre for its dealers’ personnel that provides the necessary training on construction niche issues and product benefits;

• Camso Sales intelligence (Si) – A universal, self-updating, all-inclusive sales tool for its Con-struction, Agricultural and Material Handling products, available in 7 languages online at si.camso.co and as an iPad app.

The system allows both access to the information and training about the in-dustry in a virtual fash-ion. “We are committed to growing the business of our distributors and deal-ers. We believe that this suite of tools will make it easier for them to specify the right product for the right application every time for end users. Expert Appli-cation Assistance is only a couple of clicks away,” adds David Fleischhauer, Executive Director, and Market Development – Construction. The Si is also available to anyone who wishes to use it. End us-ers wanting to brush up on their OTR knowledge can download the APP for free.

Preliminary data shows that Camso’s approach is a great success. In the last two weeks, the company recorded 254 Li sessions – meaning that reps are ac-cessing this online centre for training – and about 13,000 page views on Si.

“On-line, fully acces-sible and self-updating knowledge to our custom-ers is definitely the way to go,” concludes Fleischhau-er. b

A year after oil sank into a bear market; the industry is still hunkering down for a long period of low prices, with Europe’s biggest pro-ducer seeing only the first glimpses of a recovery.

In the past five months, U.S. production sank by 590,000 barrels a day, or more than 6 percent. The bad news: Drillers are cut-ting costs with a speed and brutality not seen in de-cades, enabling many oil producers to maintain out-put even as prices remain low. Goldman Sachs Group Inc. sees crude falling a fur-ther $10 a barrel as storage tanks fill up in the coming months.

Royal Dutch Shell Plc is planning for a long stretch of low prices, Chief Execu-tive Officer Ben Van Beur-den said at the Oil & Mon-ey conference in London. While he sees “the first mixed signs for recovery,” the resilience of the U.S. shale industry and ample stockpiles suggest it’ll take

more time to rebalance de-mand and supply, the CEO said.

West Texas Intermedi-ate crude, the U.S. bench-mark, slumped by almost half in the past year and traded at $49.47 a bar-rel at 10:58 a.m. London time on Wednesday. The world has been awash with crude since the Organiza-tion of Petroleum Export-ing Countries decided last November not to reduce output, focusing instead on protecting its market share from rising shale supplies.

“We see some light at the end of the tunnel,” OPEC Secretary-General Abdalla Salem El-Badri said at the conference. With industry spending cuts totaling $130 billion, the market is now improv-ing and prices may rise in the coming months, yet the supply overhang means the current situation could last as long as two years, he said.

Total SA, France’s larg-

est oil producer, said the industry continues to en-dure “challenging” times amid volatile prices. Nev-ertheless, the company’s traders expect demand growth this year to beat the International Energy Agen-cy’s forecast of 1.7 million barrels a day, CEO Patrick Pouyanne said at the sum-mit.Shale Cutbacks

Oil companies world-wide will cut investments in oil exploration and pro-duction by a record 20 percent this year, which will eventually reduce or eliminate oversupply, IEA Executive Director Fatih Bi-rol said. The industry will defer more major projects again next year, according to Ali Moshiri, Chevron Corp.’s president of explo-ration and production in Latin America and Africa.

Cutbacks may be par-ticularly noticeable in the U.S. shale industry, ac-cording to Mark Papa, a partner at private-equity

firm Riverstone Holdings LLC. A price of $45 a bar-rel is too low to spur shale producers to invest in new production, according to the man who built EOG Resources Inc. into the big-gest U.S. shale producer as CEO from 1999 to 2013. “We are about to see a pretty dramatic decline in U.S. production growth,” Papa said.Iran’s Return

The world saw the first signs of reduced oil output in May and June, accord-ing to Shell’s Van Beurden. “This could entail higher prices, if OPEC at the same time can come to an agree-ment on how to accommo-date the aspirations of Iraq and Iran, in particular, to grow their oil production,” he said.

Iran is preparing to bounce back from sanc-tions that choked off in-vestment in its oil and gas industry. Successful imple-mentation of a July deal to curb its nuclear program would allow the country to ramp up production. The nation will pump 4 million barrels a day within a year of the end of sanctions, said Mehdi Hosseini, the chair-man of Iran’s oil contracts restructuring committee. It

produced 2.8 million bar-rels a day last month, ac-cording to data compiled by Bloomberg.

Iraq boosted crude pro-duction last month by 17 percent from a year earlier to 3.9 million barrels a day, according to Oil Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi. OPEC has pumped more than its 30 million-barrel daily out-put quota for 16 months, data on Bloomberg show.

Additional output from OPEC members Libya, Sau-di Arabia and Kuwait may also swell global supplies, according to Jeff Currie, head of commodities re-search at Goldman Sachs.$20 Oil

“Our baseline forecast is for $45 with a trough of $38 during the autumn,” he said Tuesday. The bank said last month that prices may even fall as low as $20. “What’s driving that trough, and what was the genesis of our $20 scenar-io, is essentially blowing out storage capacity,” Cur-rie said.

U.S. crude stockpiles are about 100 million barrels above the five-year average even after the nation’s pro-duction fell 5 percent from a peak of 9.6 million bar-rels a day in June. Invento-

ries probably expanded by 2 million barrels last week, according to a Bloomberg survey before U.S. Energy Information Administra-tion data Wednesday.

Total inventories in rich industrialized countries were a record 2.9 billion barrels in July and prelimi-nary data suggest they rose again in August, according to the IEA.

OPEC alone can’t clear this surplus because it was created by producers out-side the group, El-Badri said.

The supply adjustment involving canceled proj-ects, idled drilling rigs and fired workers has some way to run and more pain to inflict on the industry. Companies have already made the deepest cost cuts in 16 years, said Bernard Duroc-Danner, CEO of Weatherford International Plc, the world’s fourth-larg-est oil- services provider.

“The brutality of the cost side, I haven’t seen anything like that since perhaps 1999,” he said. “Although North America took the brunt of the pain, the pain is spreading inter-nationally fast.” b

John Deere announces new precision ag prod-ucts, including John Deere Harvest Mobile and John Deere Field Connect with a Gateway 3G upgrade and Wireless Radio Kit.

“These newest updates to our ISG products provide our customers with more functionality and service, resulting in higher levels of machine performance and decision-making in the field,” says Diana Reed with John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG). “We introduced John Deere Harvest Mobile – a performance and informa-tion enhancing system – and improved serviceabili-ty to Field Connect with 3G modems and the Wireless Radio option.” John Deere Harvest Mobile

John Deere Harvest Mobile is an easy-to-use tool that optimizes ma-chine functions to im-prove grain harvesting op-

erations. It also features data collection and trans-fer to help operators make timely decisions with a simple, usable interface that makes harvest infor-mation easily available to operators and trusted ad-visors.

“Harvest Mobile inte-grates with a customer’s equipment and technol-ogy, making the transition simple and easy,” says Reed. “Plus, the Interac-tive Combine Adjustment (ICA) function displayed in Harvest Mobile optimiz-es combine performance by guiding users to make adjustments when neces-sary.”

Aside from setting ad-justments, ICA helps to im-prove grain quality, which reduces docking fees with the clean grain optimiza-tion function. It also helps operators capture more grain and reduce har-vest losses. Harvest Mo-bile became available to

order on August 31st. The new Field Con-

nect Gateway 3G and Field Connect Wireless Radio option allows users a wider range of serviceability when in-stalled in the field for remote moisture and environmental sensing. All new units will be shipped with 3G mo-dems in the Field Con-nect Gateway. Current Field Connect users looking to upgrade units from 2G to 3G can do so at a low cost and with a quick turnaround.

Upgraded 3G mo-dems, available now for order, can reach more locations with faster connection speeds. In addition, the upgrade prepares field units for wireless connectivity, an optional feature that maximizes the use of Field Connect Gateway in remote locations.

The wireless option is compatible with existing Field Connect Gateway sys-tems, soil moisture probes and environmental sen-sors. b

EN 16228 is a new safety standard series introducing a number of new require-ments for surface drill rigs and associated equipment. The standard came into force on December 1st 2014 necessitating intensive product development. Due to Sandvik’s commitment to safety, these changes were warmly embraced with implementation work beginning in 2013 resulting in the first surface drill rig complying with the new standard, a Ranger DX, be-ing successfully delivered

to its customer on Decem-ber 8th 2014.

The new safety standard series has led manufactur-ers to look again at their drilling rigs, and to ensure that operational safety is notably improved. One of the major improvements in the standard is the revised requirement to protect op-erators, and other person-nel, better from the en-tanglement hazard caused by the rotating drill steel. Committed to continuously improving safety, Sand-vik’s solution to this re-

quirement was to develop and install a safety cage around the feed beam.

Another example of how the new requirements have been approached is in re-ducing the risk of fire in case of hose leakages. To accomplish this, protective sleeves have been fitted over hydraulic hoses in coolers and the power pack. These are just two examples of how Sandvik has, through its proactive collaboration and membership of the safety standards commit-tee, been at the forefront of

improving product safety, and vitally, ensured that all Sandvik drilling products meet the new standards on the day that they became operational.Safety - A basic value for Sandvik

Sandvik is proud of its endeavors in safety and continually invests in de-veloping drill rigs where safety is an inbuilt prop-erty. To this end Sandvik Construction drill rigs are internationally renowned for being at the forefront of technical safety. Fulfill-ing the requirements of any new safety standard is a challenging experi-ence; however, for Sand-vik Construction there are also many benefits. “Product standards are very important to us. From Sandvik’s point of view it is a definitive benefit to be able to bring high qual-ity products that comply with the requirements to all market areas. With the help of safety standards we are able to show the safety level of our drill rigs,” com-mented Päivi Kautiainen, responsible for the general development of drill rig safety at Sandvik.

Ensuring that Sandvik not only complies with safety standards, but is proactive in their develop-ment, Päivi now leads a global safety team which consists of 11 experts work-ing for Sandvik Mining and Sandvik Construction. This team is also responsible for the safety engineering during product develop-

ment. “We make sure that product development proj-ects have all the necessary information on the techni-cal and functional safety requirements for different market areas. They have to be taken into account from start to finish in every proj-ect”, Päivi explains. Requirements turned into solutions

One of the most im-portant functions of safety standards is to inform manufacturers of the cur-rent technical safety level required from their equip-ment. To this end drill rigs now have a specific European safety standard EN16228 – Drilling and Foundation Equipment - Safety. The preceding standard for drill rigs had become outdated due to technical and regulatory development, for example, since it was first published 20 years ago. The work for creating the new stan-

dard lasted several years, with the final requirements coming into force at the end of 2014. “We turn the requirements of the safety standards into technical solutions”, Päivi proudly states.

Standardization work is usually carried out over several years in continuous international cooperation between different manu-facturers and authorities. “Because drilling is one of our core businesses, it is very important that we are constantly involved in the development of related standardization. The new safety standard is a harmo-nized product type specific C-type standard, which provides conformity with European requirements. In addition to this, we certain-ly need to know about and adapt to the safety require-ments currently in force in other areas, because the

whole world is our market. Safety is important wher-ever our equipment oper-ates”, explains Päivi. “Safe-ty is also a priority to our customers. For example in the USA and Australia the level of safety require-ments concerning drill rigs is high.”Helping customers’ world-wide

As surface drills rigs operate in a variety of dif-ferent and demanding conditions, including land strewn with boulders, in blasting areas, or on slip-pery rocks, but always in dusty, noisy conditions un-der constant vibrations and often at great heights, solu-tions to the new require-ments have to accordingly take into account these di-verse operating conditions. This has led Sandvik to produce practical solutions which adhere to the new standards, but also benefit customers in other ways.

“Naturally we pursue development for com-petitive advantage in the market, of which safety is one of the most important ones. We focus on improv-ing safety all the time. For example, one of the most notable changes in the new

standard is the require-ment of covering the spin-ning drill steel. We solved the problem by building a protective cover to be in-stalled on the feed beam, which prevents the opera-tor from accidentally get-ting into touch with the rotating steel”, says Jarno Viitaniemi, Product Man-ager for surface drill rigs. “In addition, our 3D hole navigation system, togeth-er with the drilling pattern design program, signifi-cantly improves safety and productivity of the drilling-blasting process”, Jarno continues.

“In developing drill rigs we constantly pay at-tention to machinery and functional safety, which in turn helps our custom-ers to improve their own safety at work”, states Jarno. “Nowadays the customer is able to choose such items such as remote controlled drill rigs, dust sealing compound sys-tems and noise protective systems, as our custom-ers are increasingly seeing the benefits of profession-al safety design and safety solutions.” Jarno further explains how Sandvik ap-proaches the development and implementation of

new safety features: “We started a specific product development project for taking care of even the smallest changes required by the new standard. The standard came into force on the 30th November 2014 and all equipment manufactured after the date had to comply with the standard. We were so well prepared that the first product delivery with the new safety features - a Ranger DX - was com-pleted already on the 8th December.”

Jarno concludes by ex-plaining that European standards carry a great of importance even in coun-tries outside of Europe. “Though this is an EN stan-dard, we have a lot of cus-tomers in various markets who want drill rigs that are built according to EN standards, and therefore possess high quality safety solutions, even if their local legislation does not require them.” This means that wherever Sandvik Con-struction drill rigs are in operation in the world cus-tomers know that the drill rigs are built to the highest standards available. b

Natural gas production in the lower 48 United States averaged 72.3 bil-lion cubic feet per day (Bcf/d) in September, up nearly 0.4 Bcf/d versus the August average, ac-cording to Bentek Energy, an analytics and forecast-ing unit of Platts. On a month-over-month basis, September natural gas production was up less than 1% from August.

The U.S. Energy In-formation Administra-tion (EIA) won’t publish its domestic production estimates for September for a couple months. EIA was due to report data for August on or around October 30, 2015.

“The month-on-month U.S. natural gas production jump can be attributed almost en-tirely to the Northeast,” said Sami Yahya, Bentek energy analyst. “While most of the upcoming pipeline expansion proj-ects in the Northeast are slated for a November 1

Continued from page 8

release date, some proj-ects came online ahead of schedule. Northeast gas production shot to a record 20.8 Bcf/d in September, which marks a month-on-month in-crease of nearly 0.45 Bcf/d between August and September.”

Yahya said the North-east is helping offset declines coming from various regions in the United States. “Whether the declines are caused by maintenance events or shut-ins that are due to crumbling commodity prices, the Northeast is helping keep U.S. natu-ral gas production afloat. Between August and Sep-tember, production from the Southeast region dropped by more than 0.1 Bcf/d, while Texas shed about 0.05 Bcf/d. The remaining U.S. ba-sins were relatively flat during the same time period. Given that the Northeast is expected to add another 2.4 Bcf/d in

November, U.S. dry gas production is set to reach new highs and average a little less than 74 Bcf/d by year end.”

Bentek data analysis suggests 2015 U.S. natu-ral gas production will average approximately 72.2 Bcf/d, with growth occurring throughout the year. This will mark a year-over-year growth of 3.4 Bcf/d versus 2014.

The Bentek data anal-ysis is based on an exten-sive sample of near real-time production receipt data from the U.S. lower 48 interstate pipeline system. Platts’ Bentek production models are highly correlated with and provide an advance glimpse of federal gov-ernment statistics from the U.S. EIA.

This Bentek Energy U.S. natural gas produc-tion data estimate will be published every month covering the previous month’s output activity. Bentek’s dry gas produc-tion estimates are not ob-served data and are based on pipeline receipt nomi-nations and certain state production data. b

The combination comes into its own in the long haul segment, where the difference in terms of stability, precision and control is particularly no-ticeable during the long workday typical of this sector. What is more, steering is lighter and smoother at low speeds.

“The individual front suspension gives perfect road holding and the com-fort offered by Volvo Dy-namic Steering translates not just into an improved working environment but also a reduced risk of working injuries for the driver,” relates Kristin Signert.

Thanks to individual front suspension, the front wheels are not affected by each other, which results in smoother and more sta-ble progress on the high-way. The system’s rack and pinion steering offers more direct steering feed-back and gives a crisper feeling of precision and control.

Steering wheel move-ments caused by vibra-tions penetrating from the road surface drop considerably with Volvo Dynamic Steering. The result is not only lighter and smoother steering for the driver; it also causes less strain on muscles and joints in the long run.

“The fact that the driv-er can feel more relaxed and stay healthier means that this combination boosts productivity in the longer term,” says Kristin Signert.

The combination of these two systems can now be ordered on the Volvo FH and Volvo FH16.Facts - Individual front suspension• The system consists of

• The hydraulic power steering system gener-ates the force the driver needs to turn the truck’s wheels. Volvo’s system uses an electronically controlled electric motor located on the steering shaft.

• The electric motor works together with the hydrau-lic power steering and is regulated thousands of times per second by an electronic control unit.

• At low speeds the elec-tric motor provides add-ed power and at higher speeds it automatically regulates the steering, compensating for ir-regularities that make their way to the steering wheel, for instance side winds or potholes in the road surface. b

Lytx, Inc., the global leader in video-based driv-er safety, unveiled today a giant leap forward in safe driving innovation with its Lytx ActiveVision service available for select Lytx DriveCam clients immedi-ately, and industry-wide in January 2016. The Ac-tiveVision service will be publicly demonstrated this weekend at the 2015 Amer-ican Trucking Associations Management Conference & Exhibition in Philadelphia.

The ActiveVision ser-vice is a revolutionary and comprehensive safety solu-tion that helps detect and address, both in real time and over time, distracted and drowsy driving and following too close, all potentially dangerous and costly driving behaviors that often go undetected — behaviors that contribute to 6,000 deaths, 500,000 in-juries, and more than $175 billion in economic costs

each year, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The ActiveVision ser-vice uses advanced ana-lytics to identify patterns of behavior – such as lane departure or following too close – that are indica-tive of distracted and/or drowsy driving, and then uses video to help pinpoint the possible root causes. When combined with the Lytx DriveCam safety pro-gram, the ActiveVision service is a comprehensive program that can help driv-ers improve performance and help mitigate risk. Three Pioneering Ways to Address Drowsy and Distracted Driving and Following Too Close

Unlike other video-based safety systems cur-rently available, the service combines three technology advancements to address distracted and drowsy driv-ing and following too close:

• seamless integration with in-vehicle technol-ogy and Lytx DriveCam sensors for an extensive level of data collection

• advanced data analytics to form a holistic view of what’s happening on the road

• comprehensive coaching including in-cab alerts and prompts, and post-drive coaching to help drivers continuously im-prove their skills“The most sophisti-

cated technology in the cab will always be the human operator,” said Lytx Chairman and CEO Brandon Nixon. “So we created a system to aug-ment the natural strengths of the human driver that leverages vast amounts of data, understands what that data means – and what’s important, and how that data can be used to make the roads safer for everyone. The ActiveVi-

sion service is the latest innovation from nearly two decades of research and development, and the insights from expert hu-man review of more than 28 billion miles driven.”

The ActiveVision ser-vice executes sophisticated pattern detection to better surface and address other-wise hidden patterns, such as lane departures, improp-er fitness to lane, or follow-ing too close, which are top indicators of risky driving behaviors.

“Lytx, with the launch

of the ActiveVision service, is priming to deliver com-prehensiveness in the video safety market,” said Sathy-anarayana K, research manager for Automotive & Transportation for Frost & Sullivan. “With real-time driver alerts and feedback, the Lytx ActiveVision ser-vice can reduce the risk of potential collision through a collective understanding of drivers’ in-cab behav-ioral patterns and on-road driving style (i.e., lane de-parture, following distance, and fitness to lane).”

Open, Expandable Platform Helps Future-Proof as New Sensor Technologies Emerge

ActiveVision taps into many relevant data sources to inform both in-cab alerts and post-drive coaching feedback based on the overall environmental context for the purpose of providing more relevant feedback. Some driving be-haviors, for example, are safe in good weather con-ditions or when few cars are on the road, but are

hazardous when road con-ditions take a turn for the worse – the Lytx ActiveVi-sion service is also highly adaptable to allow for the ability to expand as sensor technologies advance and as understanding of road safety evolves. Lytx Insight-Driven Coaching for Long-term Driver Performance and Safety

Today, thanks in part to the proliferation of per-sonal technology, commer-cial drivers and the drivers around them are bombard-ed with even more non-road related distractions. Simple monitoring and interven-tion systems alone may help bring attention to immedi-ate, urgent safety behaviors, but they do little to improve driving for the long term. Furthermore, because these systems may generate fre-quent false alerts, they have the potential to contribute to driver complacency.

The ActiveVision service goes several steps beyond, pulling together a compre-hensive understanding of what’s happening in the cab and on the road leading up to and during a potential col-lision or other safety event. That information is then

used to alert the driver im-mediately and to help driv-ers proactively improve their performance to avoid colli-sions and similar events in the future.

The ActiveVision ser-vice provides compre-hensive coaching that in-cludes: in-vehicle alerts, when conditions require greater driver attention; in-vehicle prompts, when immediate action is recom-mended; and post-drive, video-based coaching to help drivers improve their skills in all situations.AutoTune: Continuous Feedback Loop Fine-Tunes Alert Precision

ActiveVision’s physi-cal component is housed within the new ER-SV2 Event Recorder, Lytx’s fifth-generation event recorder built for the future of video-based safety. The ER-SV2 collects video feeds from outside and inside the cab, as well as information from technology already in the vehicle (such as the truck’s Engine Control Module and third-party ADAS systems) to provide a broad perspec-tive on what’s happening when, and how perfor-mance can be improved. In addition to best-in-class camera technology, the ER-

SV2 includes an LED and audible user interface, Blue-tooth and Ethernet connec-tivity, components such as accelerometer and gyro sen-sors, and systems to alert lane departure warnings, and headway warnings.

The ActiveVision ser-vice is in part, powered by a one-of-a-kind, ground-breaking new innova-tion, called AutoTune that minimizes the likelihood of false alerts. The service’s pattern recognition algo-rithms, computer vision and machine learning tech-nologies help create a com-

prehensive view of what’s happening and how poten-tially dangerous situations can be mitigated.

Lytx’s 24-7 expert re-view operations provide human oversight of cap-tured events, creating a continuous feedback loop to fine-tune algorithms powering the in-cab alerts. The result is a constantly improving and updated service to capture more be-haviors and generate more precise alerts the more the system is used. b

Alexandria Min-erals Corporation (TSX VENTURE:AZX)(OTC PINK:ALXDF)(FRANKFURT:A9D) Com-pleted a new National In-strument (“NI”) 43-101 Mineral Resource estimate at its gold-rich Hudvam Copper-Gold-Zinc-Silver project in the world-class Flin Flon-Snow Lake Dis-trict, increasing the re-sources by up to 18%.

Highlights of the new resource estimate:• Indicated Resources: a

10% increase in ton-nage, and 5% increase in metal content, over the previous 2008 NI 43-101 resource estimate, now 930,400 tonnes grading 1.17% copper, 3.62 g/t gold, 1.71% zinc, and 13.23 g/t silver,

• Inferred Resources: an 18% increase in tonnage, and 15% increase in met-al content, over the 2008 resource estimate, now 612,000 tonnes grading 0.77% copper, 2.89 g/t

gold, 1.26% zinc, and 6.55 g/t silver,

• With a gold grade of 3.62 g/t in the Indicated Re-sources, and 2.89 g/t in the Inferred Resources, Hudvam falls into a class of notable, and large, gold-rich Volcanic Mas-sive Sulfide (“VMS”) deposits which are char-acteristic of the Snow Lake-Flin Flon District, but also includes other notable districts such as La Ronde-Bousquet-Doy-on District in Quebec, as well as the large Horne mine in Noranda.Eric Owens, President

and CEO, stated, “These results continue our re-source growth which since 2011 has quadru-pled through exploration and acquisition. Together with the nearby WIM de-posit in Snow Lake, we have shown the upside of our acquisition, which ef-fectively cost Alexandria $3.50 per ounce of gold and gold equivalent.”

Alexandria Minerals obtained the Hudvam VMS deposit, located in Flin Flon Manitoba, and the WIM project in Snow Lake, Manitoba, when it acquired Murgor Re-sources in March of 2015 in an all-share transaction (see Press Release, March 10, 2015). As reported on May 20, 2015, the Com-pany provided updated resources for the WIM deposit which showed a 64% and 40% increase in the tonnage, respectively, of the Inferred and Indi-cated Resources.

Resources at Hudvam come from two near-sur-face zones (Zone 1 and Zone 3) located about 400 m apart on the same stratigraphic horizon. The majority of the mineral-ization lies within Zone 1, averaging 10 m true thick-ness, and extending from surface to approximately 600 meters below sur-face and 300 meters along strike. Zone 3 extends 200

m along strike, dips verti-cal and extends to a depth of 110 m.

The deposit remains open at depth and along strike, and there are a number of as yet untested geophysical anomalies that warrant drill testing.

Mineral Resource is based on the application of cur-rent long-term metal pric-

ing, projected production costs, recoveries and ex-change rate to under-ground stope optimization analyses. As a result, man-agement considers these estimates to be more ro-bust, and current, than the prior estimates.

The 2007 and 2008 dia-mond drill programs by Murgor were used to con-firm historical diamond drill data, increase con-fidence in the estimate, and expand the resource, and is supported by a req-uisite QA/QC program of blanks, standards, and pulp and coarse dupli-cates.

Other than the recalcu-lation of the Copper Equiv-

alent, the Mineral Resource estimate methodology and block model remains un-changed from the 2008 Technical Report, and uses grade variogram analyses for the Ordinary Kriged in-dividual estimates for Cop-per, Gold, Zinc and Silver in Datamine Studio.

For this estimate, a Cop-per Equivalent percent (“CuEq %”) has been cal-culated, which incorpo-rates the values and recov-eries of the metals (copper, gold, zinc and silver) in the resource. A cutoff of 1.35 % CuEq was determined for the underground re-sources. b

Diesel Technology Forum.“A complete transfor-

mation of diesel technology in the U.S. has taken place in the last 15 years that has virtually eliminated partic-ulate (soot) emissions from

new diesel engines across the board,” Schaeffer said. “For example, emissions from heavy-duty diesel trucks and buses have been reduced by 99 percent for nitrogen oxides (NOx) - an ozone precursor - and 98 percent for particulate emissions, which include black carbon.

“Today, clean die-sel technology with near zero emissions is standard equipment in nearly all cars, trucks, off-road die-sel vehicles and equipment such as construction equip-ment, agricultural vehicles, stationary generators, lo-comotives and marine ve-hicles.”

International Communi-ty to Seek Major Emissions Reductions

President Obama has pledged the U.S. will cut emissions by up to 28 percent by 2025. Several nations this week pro-posed reducing emissions of greenhouse gases, in-cluding methane, and of the soot, or black carbon, from industry, automobiles and open fires. Additional emission reduction initia-tives are expected to be proposed at the United Na-tions summit in Paris this December.

“Because diesel power is the overwhelmingly dominate source of mov-ing cargo both on land and sea, the benefits from this new diesel technology will be vital for the U.S. and international community in reducing black carbon

and greenhouse gas emis-sions,” Schaeffer said.

Schaeffer said that since 2000, the leaders in clean diesel technology and the EPA have worked coop-eratively in establishing a regulatory pathway that brought about the intro-duction of an entire new generation of clean diesel engines for both on- and off-road applications.

Diesel Moves 90% of the World’s Cargo

“No technology can match the role of diesel en-gines and equipment today or in the future. More than 90 percent of the world’s cargo is moved by diesel-powered engines. In the U.S., over 95 percent of the heavy duty trucks and more than two-thirds of all farm machines and construction equipment are powered by diesel. This is why the ma-jor transformation to clean diesel technology will have a significant global impact in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.”

As examples, Schaeffer said studies indicate the 3.9 million light duty new clean diesel cars and light trucks sold in the U.S. be-tween 2007 and 2014 have saved 9.7 million tonnes of CO2 and 1.5 billion gallons of gasoline;

President Obama’s Cli-mate Initiatives to Benefit From Major Advancements in Clean Diesel Technol-ogy and Fuel- Clean diesel commercial trucks sold between 2007 and 2014 have already saved 21 mil-lion barrels of crude oil and eliminated 9 million tonnes of CO2, which is equivalent to removing almost 2 mil-lion passenger vehicles for one year.

“To accomplish these emissions reductions on a global level, all nations must work for high-quality ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel and renewable diesel fuels. These are the foundation that enables the use of low-emissions technology like particulate trap upgrades to engines and equipment,” Schaeffer said.

“Here in the U.S., the emission reduction ben-efits been realized the most in the fleet of heavy duty vehicles,” Schaeffer said. “Almost 21 percent of all medium and heavy duty commercial trucks registered in the United States today – 1.9 million of 8.2 million trucks - are deployed with these tech-nologies that have saved at least 880 million gallons of

fuel while reducing carbon emissions by nine million tons and substantially re-duced other emissions by hundreds of thousands of tons.

“Today diesel engines are responsible for less than six percent of all par-ticulate emissions in the U.S.,” Schaeffer said.

Black Carbon to Decline by 86% by 2030 “Largely Due to Controls on New Mobile Diesel Engines” – U.S. EPA 2012 Black Car-bon Report to Congress

Schaeffer said that ac-cording to the U.S. En-vironmental Protection Agency’s 2012 Report on Black Carbon to Congress, the U.S. currently accounts for about eight percent of the global black carbon emissions, with 52 percent of that coming from mobile sources, and 93 percent of the mobile sources attrib-uted to diesel engines. On top of the 32 percent reduc-tion from 1990-2005, EPA projects this percentage will decline by 86 percent by 2030 ‘largely due to con-trols on new mobile diesel engines’.

“Over the last decade in particular, the diesel in-dustry has invested billions of dollars in development of cleaner diesel fuels, ad-vanced engines, and emis-sions control technology. The efficiency and environ-mental benefits from these new technologies will con-tinue as increased numbers are introduced into the population.” b

Rafael Muñoz-Carpena of the University of Flori-da, Gainesville, has been named the recipient of the American Society of Agri-cultural and Biological En-gineers (ASABE) 2015 Ad-vanced Drainage Systems, Inc. (NYSE:WMS) (“ADS”) Soil and Water Engineering Award. The ADS-sponsored award recognizes his out-standing research, meth-odology and educational contributions in the devel-opment and advancement of integrated hydrologic and water quality modelling.

Muñoz-Carpena has established an internation-ally recognized research program that focuses on different aspects of hydrol-ogy processes including chemical fate and transport, water management for envi-ronmentally sustainable ag-ricultural systems, plus the development and applica-tion of hydrologic and water quality computer simulation technologies. He has also been an active member of ASABE for 22 years, and

elected a Fellow this year.“Mr Muñoz-Carpena’s

work in storm water run-off control is widely-used as an industry best practice around the world,” stated Bob Klein, executive vice president, sales at ADS. “His work has been and continues to be extreme-ly important for natural resource management, which mirrors one of our company priorities.”

His numerical model for evaluation and design of vegetative filter strips (VFS) is a common best management practice used for surface runoff pollu-tion control. The model, used by environmental managers in the U.S. and abroad, provides objective engineering-based design criteria for VFS implemen-tation. He also developed modelling tools for the sys-tematic analysis of complex environmental problems.

Muñoz-Carpena has au-thored or co-authored more than 350 peer-reviewed journal articles, research

technical publications, a book, and is frequently sought worldwide as a speaker. He has built a very active and successful graduate and post-graduate program as a major advisor to Ph.D. and M.S., as well as postdoctoral students. He regularly hosts inter-national scholars and has taught graduate level short courses in Spain, France, Belgium, and Mexico. He is also a member of four honorary societies.

Sponsored by ADS/Han-cor since 1966, the prestigious ADS Soil and Water Engineer-ing Award is given annually in recognition of noteworthy contributions to the advance-ment of soil and water engi-neering in teaching, research, planning, design construc-tion, management or materi-als development.

“Our long-term part-nership as the sponsor of this award gives us an opportunity to honour ex-ceptional contributions to water quality and water management solutions,” Klein commented. “We are pleased to recognize Mr Muñoz-Carpena and his many accomplishments in this important field.” b

Though parents and youth say they believe ca-reer opportunities in the skilled trades to be limited, the Canadian Apprentice-ship Forum (CAF-FCA) published a new national report today indicating the opposite is true.

With insights and ob-servations from 754 certi-fied journeypersons across Canada, “The Benefits of a Skilled Trades Career: Journeyperson Perspec-tives and Experiences” sheds new light on career progression in the trades. Journeypersons point to benefits including good pay, interesting work, full-time employment and the job satisfaction that comes with building or creating some-thing. Based on a national survey with tradespeople at various stages of their ca-reer, 50 per cent of respon-dents reported making more than $80,000 annually.

“In recent surveys to gauge parent and youth un-derstanding of the skilled trades, we were disap-pointed with the perception that skilled trades’ careers are ‘dead end jobs,’” said Sarah Watts-Rynard, CAF-FCA’s Executive Direc-tor. “This study reflects a much different reality, one of broad opportunity both in the trades and in related

occupations. Tradespeople often transition into differ-ent fields, including teach-ing, training, management and business ownership. We need to share that story with young people.”

When asked what a skilled trades career brought him, one respon-dent said “Massive adven-ture. I bought my first house at 21 and had a suc-cessful business by 24. I travelled around the world, became a professor by age 30... [all while] my univer-sity buddies were still eat-ing Kraft Dinner.”

Another respondent said, “I would question the notion that front-end programs, like degrees and diplomas, are equivalent or superior to an

apprenticeship as they often lack the most critical compo-nent-social interaction in the context of the workplace. No one ever learned how to be a senior executive at school. They learned it at work.”

The survey found that the majority of journeypersons valued their Red Seal en-dorsement because it made them more employable and enhanced their labour mo-bility. Many had also be-come mentors themselves, expressing satisfaction in becoming leaders who pro-mote a positive work envi-ronment, model good safety practices and facilitate team collaboration.

These findings will sup-port conversations with youth, parents and educa-tors, and be included in fu-ture updates to CAF-FCA’s career awareness resourc-es. b

Doosan introduces its first safety training videos for heavy equipment own-ers, operators, rental com-panies and dealers who own or operate articulat-ed dump trucks (ADTs), crawler and wheel exca-vators or wheel loaders.

“The goal is to help ed-ucate owners and opera-tors about the importance of safety and increase their knowledge of proper operation and mainte-nance of the products,” says Shawn Warkenthien, director of product safety for Doosan.

The videos demon-strate proper operating

procedures and mainte-nance tips to help end users better understand their machines and be-come more productive. Each video is approxi-mately 20 minutes and can be viewed in English, Spanish or French, on one DVD.

These videos are avail-able for purchase on a sin-gle DVD from your local Doosan heavy equipment dealership. The English versions of these safety training videos are avail-able to watch online at www.doosanequipment.com.

It is important to note

that the safety training videos are not a substi-tute for the machine’s Operation & Mainte-nance Manual, which is provided upon delivery from a local Doosan deal-ership. The manual is the primary guide for proper and safe operation and maintenance. Addition-ally, operators should be familiar with safety and instructional decals pro-vided on heavy equip-ment prior to operating, maintaining or servicing the machine.

Doosan also recom-mends the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) safety manuals for operating and maintain-ing off-highway dump trucks, wheel loaders and excavators. b

G. Cooper Equipment Rentals Limited (“Cooper”) of Toronto announced a definitive Share Purchase Agreement today to ac-quire SMS Rents, a divi-sion of SMS Construction and Mining Systems Inc.

The transaction is expected to close by December 31, 2015.

Cooper, backed by Ca-nadian private investment firm, SeaFort Capital, based in Halifax NS, is the leading compact equipment rental

company in the Greater Toronto Area, operating six full service equipment rental locations from Bur-lington to Scarborough. SMS Rents, a member of the Sumitomo Corporation Group, is a division of a

major Canadian construc-tion equipment business. SMS Rents employs over 200 people and operates 15 branches located across Ontario and Quebec.

Announcing the pur-chase, Darryl Cooper, CEO of Cooper said, “By combining SMS Rents and Cooper, we are creating a strong Canadian business with considerable scale. Each of our 21 full service branches employs a highly skilled and knowledgeable team and offers a special-ized fleet comprised of category leading brands.” Doug Dougherty, President of Cooper, added, “SMS

Terramac, a leading manufacturer of innova-tive rubber track crawler carriers, recently held a successful exhibit at the record-breaking 2015 Inter-national Construction and Utility Equipment Exposi-tion (ICUEE) in Louisville, KY. The event took place September 29th – October 1st at the Kentucky Exposi-tion Center and set a new record of over 18,000 reg-istered attendees and 950 exhibitors.

Terramac invited its dealers to Louisville prior

to ICUEE for an Inaugural Dealer Meeting. The meet-ing was a perfect transition to kick off the company’s ICUEE 2015 exhibition with a press event, unveil-ing Terramac’s largest and most powerful crawler carrier yet, the RT14. The dealers were able to in-teract with the media and share firsthand stories about their satisfaction with Terramac’s units.

Built entirely of premi-um components, the new RT14 unit offers the high-est torque in its class and can accommodate taller aerial lifting devices and 55% more weight than the company’s popular RT9 model. The company also showcased its latest RT9 customization with the ac-claimed Terex digger der-rick as well as future devel-opments.

Terramac’s booth stood out from a sea of cranes and attachments as the company had a 14-ft. bass fish hang-ing from its RT9 specialty unit with a Terex digger der-rick serving as the fishing pole. In addition to both im-pressive models on display and an eye-catching bass fish, the Terramac booth featured an engaging fish-ing game designed to raise money for the Pat Tillman Foundation (PTF). In the game named “Cast for a Cause,” participants tested their casting skills with the objective of landing a lure into ponds of different dollar amounts. Many participants also added their own dona-

tions and the game raised a total of $3,678 which Ter-ramac donated to PTF in an effort to support the organi-zation’s mission of provid-ing academic scholarships for military veterans and their spouses.

“Terramac is an active supporter of the Pat Till-man Foundation,” says Andrew Konopka, Presi-dent of Terramac. “We are humbled by the amount of visitors who were drawn to our booth to enthusiastical-ly participate in the game as well as their generosity in helping us support an important cause.”

As a special tie-in to the PTF “Cast for a Cause” fun-draiser, TV celebrity fisher-man and 9-time B.A.S.S. Angler of the Year, Roland Martin, spent Wednesday, September 30th at the Ter-ramac booth. Standing atop the RT9 unit, Martin shared casting tips and stories with attendees and invited them to “Cast for a Cause” with him. He hap-pily signed autographs, took pictures with fans and handed out Terramac-branded fishing lures. Visi-tors of the Terramac booth also registered for a daily $150 Bass Pro Shops gift card giveaway.

“ICUEE 2015 was a huge success for Terramac,” says Konopka. “It was an excellent way for us to showcase our rubber track carriers to the utility mar-ket and connect with our dealers as well as poten-tial customers while sup-porting a great cause and having fun. We are thrilled with the positive outcome despite the rain and look forward to exhibiting again in two years.” b

Established in 2003,

SMS Rents has built a loyal customer base across sev-eral industries, including building construction, in-frastructure development, demolition, landscaping, industrial maintenance and mining.

The two branch net-works will continue to op-erate under their current business names for the im-mediate future and through a transitional phase in the New Year. Dougherty notes that the service areas of the 21 locations have al-most no overlap and does not anticipate any store closures. “This is a positive move for both companies,”

says Dougherty. “This agreement was a collabora-tive effort between com-panies that share common values and a common vi-sion. Our people, facilities, and rental fleets are highly complementary. We expect the integration of our busi-nesses to result in an ex-cellent stable platform for future growth.”

The leadership team at Cooper was also con-gratulated by the Presi-dent of SMS Rents, Marcel Langlois. “Cooper has a proven reputation in the industry for integrity and fresh thinking. The SMS Rents ‘Job Ready’ ap-

proach blends well with Cooper’s established cul-ture. The Sumitomo Cor-poration Group has en-joyed its time as it built SMS Rents, and was for-tunate to come together with a strong Canadian or-ganization at Cooper that recognizes the value of our enterprise. Now, with our combined resources, the Cooper/SMS Rents network is uniquely po-sitioned to deliver smart equipment solutions to customers throughout On-tario and Quebec.” About Cooper

Operator comfort and greater productivity high-light new enhancements to the 2016 Case IH line-up of high-horsepower trac-tors and combines. Led by significant updates to the Axial-Flow 140 series combines, the 2016 line also features innovative new offerings across the iconic Steiger tractor series. The company’s AFS Con-nect advanced farm man-agement system also has received a number of up-grades, including two-way wireless data transfer and some of the widest cover-age available.

Axial-Flow 140 series combines help producers harvest more of what they grow.

“The redesigned Axial-Flow 140 series continues a

tradition of delivering supe-rior harvesting and thresh-ing performance,” said Nate Weinkauf, manager, Cash Crop Marketing, Case IH North America. “We’ve added several productivi-ty-enhancing features re-quested by producers to put more higher-quality grain in the tank.”Key 2016 Axial-Flow 140 series enhancements include:• Improved transmission:

New two-speed elec-tronic shift transmission increases efficiency and allows producers to har-vest more acres per day. Operators can simply select a gear or speed range by the button for a smoother, more produc-tive ride. When chang-ing gears, the electronic

shift provides quick and seamless control, higher speed ranges and greater traction.

• Lightweight concave design: A new concave design lightens the work-load. At just 38 pounds — less than half the weight of previous mod-els — six lightweight concaves make it easier to tailor the combine to different crop and field types. Plus, the concaves are even more accessible thanks to a repositioned tailings elevator.

• Enhanced CrossFlow™ cleaning system: Built to handle greater capacity at higher speeds, the im-proved CrossFlow clean-ing system automatically detects when the com-bine is manoeuvring on

uneven terrain. Side-hill compensation reduces grain loss and boosts productivity by up to 20 percent. The system also features a six-auger bed system designed to in-crease cleaning capacity by up to 5,000 bushels per hour.

• Higher capacity grain handling: A larger clean grain elevator and im-proved delivery auger complement the higher-capacity cleaning en-hancements. For better grain unloading efficien-cy, a new pivoting spout allows adjustments from inside the cab. The re-mote camera kit makes monitoring and control-ling the unloading pro-cess even easier.

• Better residue manage-ment: The completely redesigned residue man-agement system includes a chevron blade-mount-ing pattern for more consistent distribution and better quality. A new single point “quick latch” system with ser-vice lock-out also allows more convenient mainte-nance.

• Intuitive user interface: A user-friendly interface provides greater produc-tivity in real time and on the fly without getting out of the cab.

Comfort and productivity fuel 2016 Steiger tractor

enhancements. With a strong history

of setting industry records, Steiger tractors deliver un-matched fuel efficiency, best-in-class comfort and proven track technology. Model year 2016 enhance-ments set the bar even higher for performance, operator experience and bottom-line improvements.

“Producer input drove every design change,” said Mitch Kaiser, Steiger trac-tor marketing manager. “Our engineers spent time with producers, collecting their feedback to fine-tune these tractors to make our customers even more com-fortable and productive.” Key 2016 enhancements to Steiger tractors include: • Efficient transmission:

20 percent faster shift-ing transmission speeds increase overall tractor efficiency and productiv-ity, boosting horsepower savings by 2 percent to 5 percent. Shuttle shift-ing now takes 38 percent less time and provides increased productiv-ity while maintaining a smooth change of direc-tion.

• LED lighting: Factory-installed LED lighting packages provide day-time visibility during night-time operations. Brighter, whiter lights re-duce operator fatigue.

• More control with less input: An advanced steering system and au-tomatic differential lock provide greater control with less input — in the field and on the road.

• Automatic line acquisi-tion: Optional advanced line acquisition adds to the Steiger series guid-ance system for precise end-of-row turns with less overlap.

• Split-image wide electric mirrors: Building on the reputation of Steiger trac-tors for industry-leading visibility, new split-im-age wide electric mirrors improve rear visibility.

Upgrades to AFS Connect maximize productivity.

Available across the entire Case IH tractor and combine offering, the latest upgrades to AFS Connect maximize productivity — from planting to harvest.

“Especially as margins tighten, we’re focused on continuously improving our AFS Connect system to provide producers with better decision-making tools,” said Leo Bose, Ad-

vanced Farming Systems marketing manager.

AFS Connect offers a comprehensive suite of fleet management and machine monitoring that provide long-distance, real-time control. From yield mapping to machine performance data, AFS Connect gives producers on-the-go access to every machine in their fleet. Key updates to AFS Connect include:• Industry-leading cover-

age: Tapping into CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access) and GSM (Glob-al System for Mobile) networks, a new modem provides superior cover-age with access to 180 carriers — automatically selecting the best signal available, seamlessly without operator inter-vention.

• Two-way file transfer: Data transfer is easier thanks to the system’s new two-way file trans-fer. Yield maps, prescrip-tions or guidance lines seamlessly move from the machine to the portal and from the portal back to the machine.

• Additional enhance-ments: Expanded sup-port of ISOBUS imple-ments through the Advanced Farming Sys-tems ISO Task Control-ler. Plus, a new Multi-swath capability works in tandem with Ac-cuGuide for improved guidance line patterns — especially when ma-noeuvring around field obstacles such as stand-ing water. b

Redesigned Axial-Flow 140 Series Combines And Steiger Tractor Updates

Equipped with Tier 4 B/Final SCR-only technology, the redesigned Case IH Axial-Flow 140 series combines feature industry-leading AFX single-rotor technology, plus more standard features to easily adjust to different crops and field conditions.

The Case IH Steiger Quadtrac and Rowtrac tractors put four points of contact on the ground for increased flotation, more traction and less compaction.

Major changes are un-derway at Caterpillar Inc. as restructuring and cost-reduction actions are ex-pected to help lower oper-ating costs by as much as $1.5 billion a year, accord-ing to company officials.

“We are facing a con-vergence of challenging marketplace conditions in key regions and industry sectors – namely in mining and energy,” Caterpillar Chairman and CEO Doug Oberhelman said. “While

we’ve already made sub-stantial adjustments as these market conditions have emerged, we are tak-ing even more decisive ac-tions now. We don’t make these decisions lightly, but I’m confident these addi-tional steps will better po-sition Caterpillar to deliver solid results when demand improves.”

Changes will begin by year-end and reflect cur-rent market conditions. This year’s sales and rev-enues were down as much as $1 billion and are not expected to surpass $48 bil-lion. Next year, sales and revenues are expected to be about 5 percent below 2015.

But revenues are not the only thing down this year, as the number of Cater-pillar employees has also shrunk over the years.

Since 2013, Caterpillar has closed or announced plans to close or consoli-date more than 20 facilities, impacting 8 million square feet of manufacturing space. The company has also reduced its workforce by more than 31,000 em-ployees since mid-2012. b
