Syllabus: The Ministry Of Prayer This course shall cover the theory and practice of prayer, with a special emphasis on the teachings of Jesus Christ and on the believer’s position and authority in the heavenly realms. Each lecture shall be 3 hrs long with the first half being teaching and the second half being a ‘handson’ practical prayer workshop and discussion. Textbook Prayer Reader – different articles compiled by John Edmiston Assessment: Prayer Project, Book Review and Final Exam Prayer Project (30%): Keep a journal of your prayer requests on each topic that we cover e.g praying for the lost, praying for governments etc. Record the nature of the request, the date you prayed, and when it was answered, as well as any impressions you received as you prayed. Type or write neatly. Journal to be submitted at the end of the semester but may be inspected before then to check you are keeping up to date. Journal must always be brought to class. Book Review (30%): Submit a twopage (1000 word) book review of The Prayer Reader– due in week 8 Final Exam (40%: A 60 question take home exam will be given in the final week of the semester and will be due two weeks later. Topics: 1. What Is Prayer? Theology of Prayer 2. The Believer’s Authority In Prayer 3. The Puzzle Of Unanswered Prayer 4. The Lord’s Prayer 5. Praying For Wisdom & For Spiritual Growth 6. Praying For The Condition Of The Church 7. Praying For The Lost 8. Praying For Christian Workers Such As Pastors, Missionaries and Evangelists 9. Praying For Governments And For Those In Authority 10. Praying For Israel And For The Peace Of Jerusalem 11. Praying For Your City 12. Praying To Break Demonic Strongholds 13. Praying For Healing 14. Praying For The Persecuted Church & For Situations Of Injustice & Poverty 15. Praying For Christian Unity (In The Spirit)
