Waking up early the follow-ing day, the group had a bounty

    of food for breakfast. Family

No one ever won a chess match by making only forward moves. Just like in life, sometimes we haveto move backward to take a better step forward.

    Fireproof gave the viewers a

time to reflect on what is impor-

tant in a marriage relationship andhow to make it work. The activity

    ended with the parents listening

to the wish lists read to them by

    CH Guy Ceniza.

As the cold evening mist began

The day ended late as the

the kids. At the same time chil-

dren had their turn to express

their love for their parents as

    where man can really commune

    with nature and its Creator.

While setting up the tents andpreparing for lunch, dark clouds

    Sacrament of MatrimonyPart1

Matrimony or marriage has been part and parcel of humanity since the begin-

ning of human beings. Following the biblical account of creation (Gen. 1 26-27),

God made man and woman and joined them together into marriage, thus becom-

ing the earliest known account of matrimonial union of man and woman. From the

ages past till today all cultures and people of the world had been performing matri-

monial rituals, establishing taboos and sanctions around it for the purpose of pro-

tecting the sanctity of its institution. The union of man and woman in marriage had

been considered as the legitimate avenue where humanity participated in procrea-

tion, doing the work originally done by God in creating Adam and Eve.

That marriage is an act of God, made it a sacrament, as we understood it to be.

Sacrament is a mystery, hence it is of God who is mystery itself. If marriage is a

sacrament and from God therefore, we are only called upon to participate in that

affair which belonged to God. Marriage does not belong to us, so when two peo-

ple, man and woman wed, they entered into a covenant with God the Author and

    Origin of marriage.

Like in every other human desire and endeavors, marriage is also a vocation, a

call to give oneself for the good of the other. In marriage as a sacrament, Gods

love is poured out to those who participated in the covenant of marriage, and as a

vocation, the same love is shared among those who entered into covenant with

God in a holy matrimony. For a marriage to be, it must originate from God, lived in Gods presence with

holy fear and a complete willingness to sacrifice oneself for the love of the soul

mate with the fruits of it being the children that will be born as Gods blessing. Thetaboos and sanctions in marriage were primarily made to protect the institution of

marriage, to keep married couples faithful to each other, avoiding infidelity, unlaw-

ful expression of mutuality and to re-enforce the nurturing and care that come

with entering into a holy union. All these are essential components of being mar-

    ried.

Being a father or a mother is an invitation to love infinitely or as one wants, in

extending the love between husband and wife to the children, marriage completes

its uniqueness as a Trinitarian symbolism, pointing to the end of reality as Christ

    taught us, LOVE.

    Fr. Martin

If marriage is asacrament and fromGod therefore, we

are only called uponto participate in thataffair which be-

    longed to God.

    parents. But we press on,

    seeking Gods guidance

    along the way.

    And so, when in the

    depth of being awed by

    Gods love, I asked the

Lord to use me. He did.

I am still in awe at how

God had filled us with Hisgraces while serving Him.

    The latest was healing me

    of my cough and colds

we gave the last talk of

    Our Homes for God.

    Simply amazing!

bigger plan God has for us.

Although I did not see its

    purpose at the start.

    I wondered how we can

    provide for them. How we

    can make them the per-

    sons God wanted them to

be. But Gods plan is flaw-

less. He renewed our faithand brought us to the

    Brotherhood early on in

    our marriage. Through the

BCBP He taught us how to

    be Christian parents, how

to build a strong family of

    faith.

It is not an easy task.

    We have our struggles as

    Getting married at

the age of 32 yet blessed

    with five children is an

    amazing grace.

    When the children

    were still very young,

three of them are over a

    year apart from each

other, I had my handsfull. I had to give up my

    job to become a fulltime

    wife and mother. But I

    have no regrets. For

    only a big loving heart,

    that of a mother, can

    give as much.

    Blessing us with five

    children was part of the
