letteratura, poesia, storia, filosofia, musica e alchimia.
natura morta, o still life, si rivela come uno strumento semantico nell’opera di Nicole Gaulier e negli
esplicitata attraverso pose, atteggiamenti e abiti.
It is with pleasure for me take care of the second edition of the Project Room, an interactive cycles
exhibition in 3D created to pay homage to the color and the protagonists of the art, and that traces -
through references, symbols and alchemy - the history of art from beginning to the present. Through
the use of the works of contemporary artists (which in turn are followed in a set of colors and the
other), past, present and future lose their temporal coordinates giving way to the three-dimensional
vision and total immersion in an environment created to computer, celebrating the encounter between
literature, poetry, history, philosophy, music and alchemy. This second round of the online exhibition
pays homage to the BLU SAPPHIRE, color loved in the fairy tales and art: from Giotto to Orazio
Gentileschi, from Vasily Kandinsky to Marc Chagall, from Picasso to Matisse, Blue’s color has inspired
artists and scholars of all generations. Defined by Goethe in his “Theory of Colour”s as chromatic
harmony absolute, for the romantic the blue, was associated with poetry, to dream and melancholy.
Arthur Rimbaud, attracted by the alchemy attributed to the blue the alphabetical letter O, as round
shape, full and maternal meaning. In contemporary art, the color blue is used for its spatial qualities,
for being index of emptiness, loneliness, and the distance to its depth perspective.
Points of contact with German expressionism are found in the work by Kohlene Hendrickson, who
she represents the sense of malaise typical of our time. Tending to surrealism and perspective
distortion are the works by Oronzo De Stradis, while a sense of metaphysical distance that covers the
work by Giorgio De Chirico, dwells in the work by Maya Nival Borgia. From the landscape in the
manner of Gaspar D. Friedrich with the photographic work by Andria Santarelli to romance visionary
by Hyemi Cho and by Fie Tanderup, while the anguish of a decadent world pervades the
atmosphere of the photographic by Xavi De Juan-Creix that predicts that only the strong people can
survive. The reproduction of everyday objects that continues the tradition of still life painting, is
revealed as a tool in the work of semantic by Nicole Gaulier and in the kites by Maria Irene Vairo that
privilege both of them the texture. Anonymous and frenetic masses pervade the works by Christel
Sobke and we conjure up the vocation epic and narrative of painting by Kostabi.
The idea of trompe l'oeil is at the basis of the works by Mirta De Simoni because she manipulates
informal tecnique and pigments working on the surface of the image. Composition, decoration,
fragment in the works by Andrea Mattiello that he recurring to the lotus as a center of creative energy
from which everything takes off. The blue reigns supreme in the work by Cor Fafiani, reminding us
another work known by now entered the collective imaginary, and I talk about the video "The
Swimmer" by Studio Azzurro, in which the viewer is apparent in conditions to attend the event,
entering into a real pool rebuilt. At a time like the present, in which architectural and urban
transformations follow each other with great rapidity the works by Giulio De Mitri fit in terms of formal
results in that vein and rationalist aesthetic of the Bauhaus that took shape in Germany in the years
20s and that prefers bare and bright surfaces, based on the relationship between industrial design and
manufacturing, light and space, between inside and outside, but in our skilled artist, the predominant
use of blue that accentuates the Mediterraneanness of its entire production. The artwork as a pure
simulacrum, copy no more original, are the characteristics of a work of art in the age of postmodernism
according to the French art critic Jean Baudrillard. A logic according to which the web is a huge
repository of images from which contemporary artists draw with total freedom as with the digital artist
Gerard Frances, which mixes real images and color effects with computer art.
The ability of contemporary art to make contact with other creative industries such as film and media,
allows it to expand dramatically its scope as a tool of artistic manipulation of reality, intertwining
collective and individual stories with Sofi Basseghi creating a short circuit between communication
and evocation. The nostalgic film by Wim Winders dwells in pictorial landscape by Isidora Ficovic.
Post human and relationship between identity and metamorphosis quote Jeffrey Deitch in the stylistic
research by Massimo Festi, he is oriented t social identity, through explicit poses, attitudes and
clothes in his works. One of the main features of the evolution of photography in contemporary art of
the last twenty years is the narrative dimension of the images captured by the urban space, that
artists such as Sam Taylor-Wood interpret as a storyboard of a vanishing and decadent world and well
find ourselves through the personal search by Kadie Schmidt Hackenberg or about the landscape by
Beat Streuli through transition between light and shadow in the landscape interpreted by American’s
artist Steve Lewis, whose attention on the horse transported on the race track as an enigmatic
object, brings us back to the dreams works by Dalì.
This series of 3D exhibitions are for the artist an experimental gym and for public a new way to
interact with contemporary art, with access 24h / 24h non-stop for the duration of each event. I
conclude with the words of Hugo von Hofmannsthal: "People need to start to see pictures, real
pictures, not oleographs handpainted: must be able to remember that their matter is a writing magic
with splashes of color in place of the words, conveys an inner vision of the world: the mysterious and
wonderful world. "
