These donations are then placed in shoeboxes that will be sent to needy children around the world. Principal’s Report Our School Captains and Vice-Captains for 2018-2019 have been chosen and it is my pleasure to welcome Renee Buggie (C), D’Arcy Slater (C), Georgie O’Brien (VC) and Samuel Abbey (VC) into these important positions of student leadership. The process for determining our leaders is quite rigorous, involving nomination, election, resume presentation and an interview with a panel of students and staff. I was extremely impressed with the quality of candidates this year and how well they have all lived up to our school values of Respect, Responsibility and Prosper. Congratulations to our successful candidates, as well as those who were not successful but are also outstanding young men and women who can still be great role models and representatives of our school. A big thank you to Ms Bramley, Ms Needham and SRC representatives Ellie Searl and Lachlan for the part they played in the process. Following from their success at our Showcase event two weeks ago, our CHS Metal band performed a 20-minute set at Goulburn Skate Park over the weekend as part of a gig set up by the Goulburn Regional Conservatorium. Despite very windy conditions, the boys did a fantastic job at high volume to a very appreciative crowd. Well done boys! Recently the Department of Education released a policy document mandating that all public schools include an option for shorts for female students as part of their regular school uniform. I have been working with our P&C to source a variety of styles and colours of shorts to discuss and seek feedback from our school community. Once this process is complete, we will ensure to have a supplier in place and stock available for purchase. We hope this will be completed this year. It is appropriate that we go through this process, and remind students that they must still wear the approved school uniform until other options are made available through consultation. At our assembly this week, we recognised many students for their great effort in demonstrating our school values of ‘Respect, Responsibility and Prosper’. Congratulations to all our recipients for their outstanding efforts and particularly to Ellis O’Brien who achieved a Silver Award. Congratulations also to our Science and Engineering Challenge participants who received a certificate in recognition of their outstanding result of third place earlier this term. Vero Joseph Principal Newly elected Captains and Vice-Captains for 2019. Georgie O’Brien, Renee Buggie, D’Arcy Slater and Sam Abbey. Recipients of awards at Assembly.
