The Knight Light March 2, 2020 Volume 5, Issue 6

TMSCA On February 22, the TMSCA Math and Science Meet took place at City View Middle School. Students competed in mathematics, calculator, number sense, and science events. LISD students have been studying very hard. Congratulations to every-one who competed. Several students qualified for state after only the first meet, includ-ing Jaret Dulock, Alana Sharp, Brax-ten Ice, Sarah Hess, Raegan Neu, Luke Rieter, Brandon Sharp and Mady Blanton. More will qualify this Saturday when we attend another qualifying meet in Tioga. Good luck! Fifth grade had more students than ever before attend the City View meet. They performed wonderfully and will be able to qualify for state next year. Way to go Knights!

Ready for Spring Break?

Spring Break is just around the corner and everyone

is excited. It is always an enjoyable time for children

and their parents. Think about a week of relaxation

spending time with family and friends. How fun! We

interviewed two 4th grade students, Claire Manhart

and Dani Jo Fleitman, and asked them about their

plans for Spring Break.

Claire was thrilled to share with us that her family is

going to Broken Bow, OK. She can’t wait to spend time

with her family and jump in the hot tub. She also said

she would like to take a dream vacation to Colorado to

ski and snowboard someday.

Dani Jo is going to Colorado with her family and

aunt and she is really excited.

Boy’s Basketball The Lindsay Knights bas-ketball team has had a success-ful season so far. They have won district and have made it through the first round. We interviewed Tyler Yanc-ey, point guard for the Lindsay Knights. He's been playing bas-ketball since he was four and has great confidence in the k Knights. He said that the key to success was teamwork, hus-tling, and dedication. We asked him what he would recommend to the next group of basketball players. Valentines Day

Valentine’s day originated in 496, when they called it Lu-percalia and it was a Roman festival held in mid-February. At the end of the 5th century, Pope Gelasius replaced Lu-percalia with St. Valentine's Day.

Valentine's Day is an an-nual festival to celebrate love, friendship and admiration. Some schools celebrate and allow students to give out candy and cards to their classmates.

Mrs.Dulock’s Class We are spotlighting Mrs. Dulock’s computer class this month. Her classes are current-ly learning about computer science and how to code, as well as learning how to make their own games, and even how to use certain apps on their computers such as Google slides, sheets, and docs. She has also been teaching stu-dents proper typing eti-quette. We are thankful for what Mrs. Dulock does for our school and our community. By Aiden Eischeid

It’s warming up!!!

Mrs. Shue established a choir for the 4th- 6th graders. Thirty-two students began practice on February 24th. Students are practicing by learning to sing and performing motions to accompa-ny their songs. We are so thankful for Mrs. Shue and her great fine arts pro-gram at Lindsay ISD.. By : Kadyn

Best Places to Fish in Cooke County Outdoor fun always includes a great fishing hole.

In Cooke County, there are many places to fish such as Elm Creek, Lindsay Park, and Moss Lake, depend-ing on what you like to fish for at the time.

The best places to catch bluegill are everywhere! Bluegills are fish that eat almost any thing. You may be asking what you should use as bait. You can use a small cricket and a big hook.

The best place to catch largemouth bass is Moss Lake because bass will eat bluegill, crayfish, liz-ards and many more species. Most bass are hitting crank baits hard. Pro anglers down size there jigs and spoons for the clear water spooky fish

In Elm Creek, it is best to catch catfish like shad which are running. If you have a cast net and happen to catch a shad, cut him up into 3 pieces and cook him.

6th Grade Girls Basketball

The girls basketball teams per-formed beautifully this year. The team made it to the semi finals, and had a hard loss against Callis-burg. Nevertheless they tried hard, did their best, and had fun out there on the court. Developing team work and spirit is what really matters. By: Callie and Cutter
