Finally, the warm weather has arrived. I hope everyone has their cars ready to cruise this summer. I for one now have my ’67 coupe back together and running after two (2) years of motor restoration, engine bay and suspension rebuild. I’m not sure how it took me two (2) years to accomplish this rebuild when I have done total frame off’s in two (2) years, start to finish. I guess I am getting older and slowing down.

be a benefit to all chapters in our region. Congratulations Shannon!

On May 1st we held a Regional Planning Meeting at Columbia Chevrolet. I was impressed with the attendance and excitement about our upcoming event. We discussed who would be responsible for some of the jobs such as layout, parking and schedule times. Many slots were filled but not all. We will send out an e-mail soon for the rest of the membership to see if you can help out in any way. Even those who volunteered need extra bodies for relief during the day. We need people to work three days, from 8:00 AM until 4:00 or 5:00 PM in the afternoon. Also, we have decided to host a Show-And-Shine event on Saturday, April 13, 2019 in the rear of the parking lot at the Regional. This will include all makes of cars. If you have experience in these types of events, please contact Steve Barrett at [email protected] to lend a hand with the Show-And-Shine event.

We now have picked up Eagle Wire as a Regional sponsor. Please look at their prices before you buy any wiring. They are very competitive. Also, check out our web site for our other sponsors: Keen Parts, Discount Tire, Columbia Chevrolet, and InvizaShield/CarZmedics. Just click on the sponsor logo for a link to their web site. Thanks again to all sponsors.

Congratulations to member Tom Keen on his Driveline article. The piece highlighted Tom’s support of the corvette hobby and what his business does for this Chapter. Lookin’ good Tom.

At our April Meeting we featured Bruce Bursten’s ’57 Gasser. Last year Bruce won a Top 10 out of 2,000+ cars at the National Street Rod Show. Next, a national magazine did a feature on his car and it’s history. On a sad note, Bruce was doing what we all love, driving home from a lunch date and POWWWWW…….someone hit him coming out of a parking lot. Good news, Bruce was not hurt; bad news, the ’57 needed a front

end but that’s what we pay our insurance for. Bruce found a trusted shop and as of this report, the ’57 should be about finished. I am sure this mishap will not slow Bruce from driving his work of art. Next on our calendar is Bloomington Gold. Once again we have an air-conditioned suite above the judging concourse. Food and drinks will be provided by the club. The dates are June 21-23, 2018. A special display of L88’s are the feature this year. I hope all can attend. An e-mail will follow with the suite number. Enough of my rambling. Go drive your vettes! Save The Wave, Tom

April QCNCRS Mtg. Minutes

…… Tom Smith

Location: Tom James Garage

Tom James, Chairman, thanked everyone for coming, and the discussion turned to Regional Swap meet. We will be having a meeting in about a week or so for the regional at Columbia Chevrolet. The discussion will be to see who wants to handle what items.

Wayne McKee, Treasurer, reviewed our March financial statement, and swap meet revenue. Our Swap Meet gate attendance was down this year. A motion for acceptance was passed.

Tom James announced we are the number one chapter for donations in the country. Perhaps NCRS should recognize the chapter with the most donations.

Michigan chapter has copied our sponsorship concept for their regional.

Paul Oslansky, Regional Representative, has made the decision to step down from his responsibilities due to a conflict of interest with the national board of directors. One reason was the article 10 revisions, and the other is that our treasurer is now our business manager. The President of NCRS will have to appoint someone till the elections are held at the end of the year.

John Ballard, Judging Chairman, reported that South Carolina put on a nice regional, in a massive building. They had between 120 and 140 cars, plus a lift. John approved our date of October 20, 2018 for the chapter meet.

Dale Maris, Web Master, said our website seems to be doing well, we have had 2300 hits so far. He also reported Discount tire has become a sponsor.

Tom James mentioned InvisiShield did two cars from people looking at our web site. Tom James called Indianapolis Motor speedway to see if we can get the SS Corvette for the regional. He is waiting for them to get back to him. Tom Smith Secretary said Heart of Ohio, and

Tom Smith, Secretary, shared that Heart of Ohio, and the Indiana Chapter need judges for their upcoming events.

Joe Eyl, Tech Master, announced we are having a tech session at Joseph Alfa Romeo, on June 2, 2018. The address is 9848 Waterstone Blvd. Cincinnati, Ohio 45249. The session will be on Chevrolet small block engine rebuilding. Tom Smith and Steve Barrett will be the instructors.

Terri James is our temporary membership chair person. We are currently looking for someone permanent who is good with computers and organization.

This year we will again have a suite at Bloomington Gold … there will be food Friday and Saturday. The QCNCRS banner will be hanging outside.

Chris Rockenfield, Vice Chair, thanked Tom James, and Terri for hosting a great meeting.

Bruce Bursten made Hot Rod deluxe magazine with his 1957 corvette gasser, and received a Tri Five National award. Interestingly, considering the extensive modifications to the car, Bruce still has all the original parts.

Many of you may not know this, but I have been a fan of romantic children’s stories for years. I particularly enjoyed the story of Cinderella. Therefore, I thought I might do a little research to find out whatever happened to Cinderella as she aged. Here is what I learned.

When she was 95 years old, after a long life with the now dead prince, she happily sat upon her rocking chair, watching the world go by with her old cat named Bob. One sunny afternoon the fairy godmother appeared. Cinderella said, 'Fairy Godmother, what are you doing here after all these years'? The fairy godmother replied, 'Cinderella, you have lived an exemplary life. Is there anything for which your heart still yearns?'

One sunny afternoon the fairy godmother appeared. Cinderella said, 'Fairy Godmother, what are you doing here after all these years'? The fairy godmother replied, 'Cinderella, you have lived an exemplary life. Is there anything for which your heart still yearns?'

Cinderella uttered her first wish: ‘The prince was wonderful, but I'm living hand to mouth on my disability checks. I wish I were wealthy beyond comprehension.' Instantly her rocking chair turned into solid gold.

What do you want for your second wish?' Cinderella looked down at her frail body, and said, 'I wish I were young and full of the beauty and youth I once had.' At once, her wish became reality, and her beautiful young Body returned. Cinderella felt stirrings inside of her that had been dormant for years. 'You have one more wish; what shall it be?' Cinderella said; 'I wish for you to transform Bob, my old cat, into a kind and handsome young man.' Magically, Bob suddenly was a beautiful young man. . Then Bob walked over to Cinderella, He leaned in close, blowing her golden hair with his warm breath as he whispered... 'Bet you're sorry you neutered me.' Now you know what happened to Cinderella.

We all have developed our love for Corvettes coming from different backgrounds … mine was racing. Here are a few of my favorites.

Thank You Gary Griever

…… QCNCRS

Throughout the history of the QCNCRS we have had several Chevrolet dealerships as sponsors .. but the best by far has been Columbia .. and specifically Gary Griever. Thank you Gary.

GETTING ACQUAINTED

…. An Editorial

Lets face it, most of us have joined the QCNCRS because we wanted to get to know people that have similar interests to our own. Of course, there are a few who only come for the food… you know who you are.

Some members are more notorious than others and they are easy to get to know… but there are many guys who come that have a lot to offer, but never get a chance to be recognized. Our membership roster has names, but no pictures. So a lot of us say hello to you, but we forget your name. That is not what we want to do, but wouldn’t it be easier to remember everyone if we knew more about you?

Many years ago we had a section in our newsletter that told stories about members and how they found their first Corvette and what happened to them in their search, etc. It was fun and it made us know each other better.

We are going to begin these stories again… and run a few of the past goodies.

Don’t worry about volunteering for a story. We will find and expose you without any effort on your part.
