This is the third part of a series on upcoming changes at St. Ann and St. Joseph Catholic Parishes.

Dear Friends in Christ, Welcome Back! It is hard to believe that it has been two long months since we gathered as a family of Faith in Church, but starting this weekend we begin to move forward towards a new normalcy. For those who are able to join us this weekend in person, please know how happy we are to celebrate the Mass with you. And for those who will only be able to join us through the power of technology, please know that we miss you, but know that you are with us in spirit. This has certainly been a difficult and trying time, yet our Faith has carried us through and continues to reinforce our hope for the light at the end of the tunnel. Prior to the start of all Masses this weekend the presiding priest will be reviewing the “Safety Protocols” and some changes with everyone present. This brief introduction should hopefully bring some clarity and better explain the changes and why they have been implemented. We realize this transition will be difficult, but we ask for everyone’s patience and understanding as we work through the changes and their implementation. We recognize that some things will not work well, but please be assured that we will review every weekend and troubleshoot to ensure the improvement of those areas we can adjust. It is fitting that we celebrate the reopening of public Sunday Masses on the Feast of Pentecost because this is the birthday of our Church. Just as the followers of Jesus lived in difficult and unsure times, God provided them with the Gift of the Holy Spirit to fulfill their mandate to transform the world. Now, 2000 years later, you and I live in difficult and unsure times, and God provides for us once again as He sends His Holy Spirit to help us in our efforts of transforming the world. This Pentecost, let us pray for a renewal in our Church and our World. Let us pray that the gifts of the Holy Spirit will empower us to boldly accept our mandate and courageously work for the transformation of our homes, workplaces, communities, and world. The mission of the early Church remains today and now it is our turn to continue the good work. May the Holy Spirit guide us, strengthen us, and equip us for His work! Welcome Home! In Christ, Fr. Michael Pastor

Rosary Walk at St. Ann & St. Joseph Cemetery on Saturday, June 6th, 7:30 a.m. We will meet at the main entrance Crucifix. All are welcome. For those who are unable to attend weekend Masses, we will continue to stream Mass on our Facebook and YouTube pages. Please know of our prayers and desire for your return to public Mass!

We would like to begin holding Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on Tuesdays at St. Joseph Church once again, but we need to ensure that each Holy Hour is filled. If you previously committed to a Tuesday Holy Hour or if you are interesting in taking one, please call Courtney at the St. Joseph Parish Office. This can be a recurring commitment or you may sign up week to week. Adoration will now be held in the main body of the Church. Many Saints speak of the power of adoring our Lord in the Eucharist, so please consider taking part of this beautiful devotion!

Rob and Kathy Boukissen are very social, welcoming, and active members of our Church Family, school and Fremont community! They raised their 3 children here in Fremont and they now have 5 rambunctious grandchildren. Rob is a member of our Homily Feedback team and al-ways a friendly face around St. Joseph. He is al-so well known for selling homes in Fremont with Wendt/Key Realty. Kathy is currently a CCD Catechist where she helps teach 3rd grade and she is a member of the Head of Schools search committee for Bishop Hoffman Catholic Schools. She has a deep connection with the Catholic School, as she used to be the Director of Development for SJCC. Kathy has recently retired from the Hayes Presidential Center where she dedicated many years. This dynamic couple is always an example of the Face of Christ to those they meet in our community! Thank you Rob and Kathy for all you do for our parish and school!

Today, as we mark the great arrival of the Holy Spirit, the season of Easter reaches its climax and conclusion. Today we celebrate and experience the powerful outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the whole Church and upon all of us who call ourselves disciples and followers of the Risen Lord. Last Sunday Jesus promised His friends that He would send them the Holy Spirit to encourage them, fill them with strength and to take away their fear. Their and our waiting is over; the promise of Jesus has been fulfilled. This very day, each of us are filled, blessed and anointed with God’s very life; the Holy Spirit. This is not just some historical event that happened two thousand years ago. It is happening today, right here, right now. Today, each of us are the ones, the disciples of Jesus who are filled with the power, energy and life of the Holy Spirit. The first friends and followers weren’t strong, courageous or even very faithful. They betrayed Jesus, they denied and deserted Him when He needed them the most. After the Resurrection, most, if not all them, doubted that He had even risen at all! They all lost heart and hope! Then, a most unusual thing happened to and for them. The house shakes; they hear wind and see flames and fire around them! These frail, frightened and fragile people are completely changed. Through the Holy Spirit, they are given new heart, new hope and new purpose. They are renewed, restored and refreshed; they become new people. They are given new courage and conviction. They leave their hiding place and they go out and boldly proclaim the Good News that Jesus is Risen. They are new people with a new mission and message. The missionary church is born. In reality, we today are no different than these men and women. Through our Baptism and Confirmation, each of us has been anointed and filled with the exact same Spirit. Just as they became witnesses to the Resurrection, we too are called to be missionary disciples today in our time and our own way. There is nothing gentle, calm or mild about God’s Spirit. The Holy Spirit is powerful, life-giving, energetic and very disturbing! St. Oscar Romero who was murdered in 1978 while celebrating Mass said, “The Spirit makes all things new; we are the ones who grow old and want to keep everything to our aged way of doing things… the Spirit is never old, the Spirit is always young.” Today, as we celebrate Pentecost and the birth of the missionary church, may we be encouraged and challenged by the words of Pope Francis. “Go out again and again, without hesitation or fear and proclaim this joy, this Good News which is for all people.” May the Holy Spirit continue to encourage and challenge each of us to be missionary disciples today, whenever and wherever we can.

- Brother Michael Moore, OMI

Come, Holy Ghost

LAMBILLOTTE/Louis Lambillotte SJ/Rabanus Maurus

1. Come, Holy Ghost, Creator blest,

And in our hearts take up thy rest;

Come with thy grace and heav’nly aid

To fill the hearts which thou hast made;

To fill the hearts which thou hast made.

2. O Comforter, to the we cry,

Thou heav’nly gift of God most high;

Thou font of life and fire of love,

And sweet anointing from above;

And sweet anointing from above.

3. Praise be to thee, Father and Son,

And Holy Spirit, with them one;

And may the Son on us bestow

The gifts that from the Spirit flow;

The gifts that from the Spirit flow.

Text: LM with repeat; Veni, Creator Spiritus; attr. to Rabanus Maurus, 776–856; tr. by Edward Caswall, 1814–1878, alt.

Music: Louis Lambillotte, SJ, 1796–1855

1. Come, O Holy Spirit, come!

And from your celestial home

Shed a ray of light divine!

Come, O Holy Spirit, come!

Come, O Father of the poor!

Come, O Source of all our store!

Come, within our bosoms shine!

Come, O Holy Spirit, come!

2. You, of comforters the best;

You, the soul’s most welcome guest;

Sweet refreshment here below;

Come, O Holy Spirit, come!

In our labor, rest most sweet;

Grateful coolness in the heat;

Solace in the midst of woe.

Come, O Holy Spirit, come!

RESPONSORIAL PSALM: Lord, send out your spirit and renew the face the earth.

Come, O Holy Spirit

HYMN TO JOY

5. On the faithful who adore

And confess you ever more,

In your sev’nfold gift descend;

Come, O Holy Spirit, come!

Give them virtue’s sure reward;

Give them your salvation, Lord;

Give them joys that never end.

Come, O Holy Spirit, come!
