VOLLEYBALL The Vikings are in action three times on the road this week, playing at Green Bay on Tuesday (Oct. 4) at 8:00 p.m., at Valparaiso on Saturday (Oct. 8) at 6:00 p.m. and at UIC on Sunday (Oct. 9) at 5:00 p.m. CSU is 10-5 overall and 3-1 in the Horizon League, just one-half game out of second place. After this week’s three contests, CSU will play seven of its final nine matches at home to close the regular season.
MEN’S GOLF The Vikings are at home this week, hosting their own invitational at Canterbury G.C. on Monday and Tuesday. The first two rounds on Monday were rained out with teams playing 18 holes on Tuesday. CSU has three players averaging under 75.0 per round, led by Andrew Bailey’s 73.9 scoring average.
WOMEN’S GOLF The Vikings, who hosted their own invitational at Pine Hills G.C. last week, are out of action until Oct. 10-11 when CSU competes at the MAC Preview in Fishers, Ind. CSU placed sixth of 11 teams at the CSU Invita-tional, led by Shelly Ford who tied for 11th place.
SWIMMING & DIVING The Vikings kick off the 2011-12 season by com-peting in the Michigan State Long Course Invitational on Saturday (Oct. 8) at 1:00 p.m.
MEN’S SOCCER Cleveland State steps out of Horizon League play for a match at Pittsburgh on Wednesday (Oct. 5) before returning home to host Loyola on Saturday (Oct. 8) at 7:00 p.m. The Vikings scored a season-high three goals in a 3-2 win at Milwaukee on Saturday to improve to 1-1-1 in the league.
WOMEN’S SOCCER The Vikings head to Indiana for two important Horizon League matches this week, playing at Butler on Wednesday (Oct. 5) at 3:30 p.m. and at Val-paraiso on Sunday (Oct. 9) at 1:00 p.m. CSU is tied for sixth place in the league standings with one point with only the top six teams advancing to the postseason tournament in early November. The Vikings enter the week at 7-4-1 overall, needing just two wins the rest of the season to tie the school record for most wins in a season, held by by last year’s squad.
MEN’S TENNIS CSU has one more fall event left, the ITA Midwest Regional Championship from Oct. 13-17 in Columbus, Ohio. The Vikings continued their fall slate by compet-ing at the Stan Drobec Invitational over the weekend. Matt Kuelker leads the team with five singles wins, while Yannick Goossens and Ali Shabib have gone 6-1 in doubles.
WOMEN’S TENNIS The Vikings will compete at the Marta Thorn In-vitational in East Lansing, Mich., this weekend (Oct. 7-9) in their final tune-up before ITA Regionals. CSU competed at the Kentucky Invitational over the weekend with Kara Sherwood winning the Singles “D” Draw and Maria Lazaris claiming the consolation title in the “A” Draw.

CROSS COUNTRY The Viking harriers head to the Shawnee State Invitational on Friday (Oct. 8) at 5:00 p.m. CSU was 22nd at the All-Ohio Championship over the weekend, led by Allison Craine’s 33rd place finish in 18:57, the second sub-19 minute time of her career.

Suljevic helped the Vikings to a 3-2 win at Milwaukee, CSU’s first league victory of the season. He notched
the assist on CSU’s second goal and scored what proved to be the game-winner in the 67th minute of
the contest. The goal was his team-leading fifth of the season. He leads the team with 11 points.
