CSU will travel to Loyola for an 8:00 p.m. EST contest on Tuesday (Oct. 18), before hosting Youngstown State at 7:00 p.m. on Friday (Oct. 21). Last week the Vikings split their contests, as they swept Wright State in straight sets and fell to Butler, 3-0. CSU enters Tuesday’s contest with a 14-6 overall record and a 7-2 mark in league play, ranking second in the league standings.

WOMEN’S SOCCER CSU returns home for the first time in three weeks with two matches this week. The Vikings host Youngstown State on Wednesday (Oct. 19) at 7:00 p.m. and Detroit at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday (Oct. 23). They are the final two regular season home contests for CSU. The Vikings dropped their lone contest last week, falling at Longwood, 1-0, on Saturday (Oct. 15).

WOMEN’S TENNIS Following a week off, Cleveland State concludes its fall season by competing at the ITA Midwest Region-als in Columbus, Ohio, from Thursday through Sunday (Oct. 20-24). Alex Power leads the team with seven singles wins this fall, while Maria Lazaris has five.

MEN’S SOCCER Thanks to 11 saves from Horizon League Player of the Week Brad Stuver and goals from Aaron Adkins and Admir Suljevic, the Vikings defeated UIC 2-1 on Friday (Oct. 14) to move into sole possession of first place in the Horizon League. MIDNIGHT MADNESS KICKS OFF HOOPS SEASON The official start of the 2011-12 basketball season took place on Satur-day (Oct. 15) with Midnight Madness in Woodling Gym. After a pre-event tailgate, patrons filled Woodling and watched as members of the men’s and women’s teams were introduced one by one from the stands. After changing into their uniforms, both teams did a few drills before five members of the men’s team participated in the slam dunk contest. Each player was paired with a member of the women’s team who assisted in a dunk. Marlin Mason’s dunk over Cori Coleman may have been the most im-pressive, but it was Ike Nwamu who won the competition, highlighted by his reverse 360 through the legs.

MEN’S TENNIS The Vikings closed out their 2011 fall schedule by competing at the ITA Midwest Regional Champion-ships in Columbus, Ohio, over the weekend. Jorg Van Der Vloet won two matches on day one in the qualifier bracket, while Yannick Goossens and Ali Shabib both competed in the main draw. Both Goossens and Shabib finished the fall sea-son with six wins apiece.
